Diner Reviews
  • "We ended up at Melting Pot at the last minute. As usual, the food was good and the dining style allows for lots of conversation. Our server was very sweet and accommodating. The only downsides were that it took about 20 minutes to get a drink I ordered from the bar and even though I don't mind shelling out money for a good meal I still feel like this place is overpriced. Fun for an occasional evening out though. We had a great meal and will definitely be back!"

  • "Three hour dinner with the wife on our anniversary. Food was awesome, great service and great company. The cost of dinner was less than I expected!! Will be back with the kids in tow soon!"

  • "Nice to be able to spend 3 hours at dinner and really visit while eating fun food."

  • "Took my significant other for a romantic night out. Food was awesome. The whole experience takes a good amount of time so plan accordingly. Allow atleast 1.5 hours. We weren't aware of this and had another event to attend so our wait staff was awesome at getting us out a bit quicker. Noise level was very high with not many customers in. Mostly due to some employees talking extremely loud a few tables away. Defiantly will be back."

  • "As usual I was impressed by the melting pot food, staff, and the overall dining experience. they were helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly and the food was delicious! This wasn't my first visit and it won't be my last."

  • "We took advantage of the "Fairytale Fondue" special weekend event to introduce our two boys to fondue (esp. the chocolate course). The grown-up costumed prince and princess was a lot of fun, as were the kids' parade and the toy swords and crowns our boys received. The food was great, but we wish the kids were allowed to choose which of the four kids' entree items they wanted. We knew they would not want spinach & artichoke ravioli, and one does not like beef, but our waiter told us very cheerfully that they'd get all four items (chicken, teriyaki beef, ravioli and shrimp). We didn't like wasting unwanted food. The other tough part was that service, though pleasant, was very, very slow (2 hr. lunch). This doesn't work well with kids."

  • "My experience here was beyond words. It was the best romantic spot ever. The meal was good, the mood was right. Definitely a keeper spot for me!!"

  • "Have eaten at melting pot multiple times and this time the service was the worst we have ever had. Waitress was rude and put out. Left cheese on table cold and unmixed. Did not want to be serving us."

  • "I was at The Melting Pot in Austin Monday night with a girlfriend, and while the food was great as usual, and our server brought us everything we requested, his service was at a snail's pace. We waited too long between courses, and would have a course 1/3-1/2 finished before we would get the additional items we had requested. I am not sure if he had too many tables? or if he just wasn't efficient in his movements. Either way, we were there for over 2 hours, and only had a 3 course meal."

  • "Hard to find the restaurant as its kind of hidden in a strip mall. Our waitress did a very poor job of explaining how the process worked. I'm sure we ended up ordering/spending way more than we needed to. For $45 a head had better meals but it was nice to have 2+ hours to visit unhurried through the meal."

  • "Nothing like a big pot of melted cheese to soothe the soul. Include lots of fresh bread to dip, fruit and veggies, then follow with a great house salad and then chocolate fondue for dessert. Just the best. The wine was also great, and the waitress was superb. She was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Good job all around!"

  • "Our server was very slow. I think he was new and kinda felt like he could not handle serving us. Both of our drinks ran out twice and we finished each course and it took over 15 mins for our plates to get picked up or the next course to come out even thought we put our whole order in together at the start. We knew exactly what we wanted. It was a little upsetting for our 4 year anniversary dinner. At the end of the night on our check we gave the waiter 40 dollars in cash and our card to cover the rest of the amount. He kept the 40 dollars and applied the whole amount to the card. We had to flag someone down to get it fixed because that is not what we asked him to do."

  • "Our experience was amazing! I picked the Melting Pot for my partner's birthday and knew it would be a special occassion. Everything was perfect and the service was more than I could ask for. Thank you so much!"

  • "Having been to The Melting Pot in other states, the Austin Melting Pot was disappointing. First we waited for 30 minutes between the appetizer and the meal. Next, the chocolate portion of the meal was skimpy on the chocolate. We will go back because we love the fondue experience. Just wish there was another restaurant in Austin that did fondue."

  • "Had a good time without the vultures around :) Can't wait to see the full-fledged wine list!"

  • "Ok, maybe fondue style is a "thing", but this is not really what we expected when we visited the restaurant. It was my wife and I and it took us over 2.5 hours for a full four course fondue meal. And for the price, I honestly would have expected more. For the price, I prefer my steak grilled (a-la-Brazilian) rather than boiled... They weren't even really that busy when we started dining at 3pm, and it seemed like it took forever. (We waited 25 minutes just for them to clear main course and set up Dessert). So, IF you're a fondue lover, that's great and I'm sure this would be perfectly in your style, but it just didn't appeal to us."

  • "This is a place to go if you want a more interactive experience with your food. We chose the four course and truly enjoyed mixing and matching the veggies and the different meats. It was simple, fun and tasty! Our waiter, Michael only elevated the experience further, as he was professional, personable and allowed us to really take our time. We will definitely go back!"

  • "I have always enjoyed The Melting Pot, but this location is getting dated. The wood finishes and seats in the dining booths were worn and cracked, the hostess gave us menus with crusted food on them and there was crud on the seats. The service and food was excellent as always, but their prices are spiking and they are trading out more expensive items with cheaper alternatives while raising the price. For instance, they claim they are now making their bread in-house. It's ok...not as good as what they had before but it's likely saving them money. Also, they cut out the cheesecake on the desert plate for a blondie brownie and pineapple. Another cost cutting measure."

  • "We always enjoy coming back to The Melting Pot in North Austin. This location has maintained the excellent service, great ambiance that is perfect for couples to share a special occasion. We tried the featured cheese fondue, Garlic and Herb Quartet Cheese, and loved it. We did stick to our favorite dessert, however, the Flaming Turtle Chocolate! "

  • "The Melting pot was great for 1 person. Most places do not cater to a singleton, but this place was perfect. They were attentive but not too often letting me read my nook and take in the atmosphere of a quite evening out. This place would be nice for special occasions and half price cheese and dessert fondue happy hour is awesome!"

  • "Everytime I go to the melting pot, it's amazing! We just discovered brunch there. It's a but cheaper and there was really no need for a reservation at noon. The waitress was very very good!"

  • "It's our 1st time & it's my b'day. The booths are private, which we like, but the bench was sunk in & I felt too low & the table too high. The hostess greeted us, the waiter was attentive & the manager came by to welcome us. They seemed to care & were all great. We got the 4 course. The cheese & dippers.. all delicious. The salad was amazing! We all 3 got a diff one, delish. The entree was our least fave. We ordered 2 Classics (lotsa diff meats) & a Vegetarian. It was beautifully presented but the meat was tough & you have to cook your dinner in the pot instead of dip. None of us enjoyed this. The potatoes were hard, we didn't know how long to leave in & it took a long time. The chocolate & dippers ..excellent! Very generous portions."

  • "After making a reservation, we arrived a few minutes early and then sat and waited to be seated for about 10 minutes. They also seated a large group who came in after us before my party of 2. The restaurant was far from busy. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily our server did a decent job and the food was good."

  • "Used to be me and my wife's favorite restaurant. We haven't been there though in about 2 years, and we noticed this time out that the food quality, amount, and choices (including sauces) has been stripped down. In doing this, you have also stripped down the experience. Trying to save money by taking short cuts with the food is NOT a good idea when people are paying over $100 already to eat at your restaurant. At that price, we expect nothing but the best, and now it is disappointing. Whoever made this decision is taking a risk, the risk that me and my wife, and discerning people like us will stop going to the Melting Pot and find a fondue restaurant that still has the food as its top priority. The 2 hour drive is no longer worth it."

  • "We had a fantastic experience celebrating our 2nd anniversary. The food was excellent, all 3 courses. It was very romantic and made us feel very welcome. They even brought us champagne at the end. Thank you Melting Pot"

  • "I came here for restaurant week and they had a set menu which was amazing. We had the spinach and artichoke cheese fondue as an appetizer followed by the cajun and classic entree options and finally for dessert the bananas foster. The server was extremely knowledgable and friendly and there was soo much food. I couldn't believe we could get that full from fondue"

  • "Brought our daughter here for her 6th birthday. First time for all of us. The appetizer of the cheese was good, the food..not so much. Had fillet, shrimp and ravioli's. The waiter said that it was large portions and what came out was definitely small! I picked 3 things for $21.95 and there were 4 bite size pieces of each meat and maybe 5 shrimp. My steak was tough and everything just tasted very bland. The "melting pot" should be 1 for every 2 ppl cooking. 4 ppl on 1 pot is just too much. Our food kept falling off in the pot. Food was way overpriced for the amount and quality. People were nice and the atmosphere was good. The manager brought us a champagne toast and soda glass for my birthday girl at the end which was very nice. "

  • "This was our first visit to the melting pot and it was average. Our waiter was the only thing that was exceptional. I can not say the food was bad, because it was not at all. It was fresh slightly above-average quality meats and vegetables. I just felt like it was something I could have done at home. Now, that being said, we were also there for the experience :) and we do not have a hot plate or fondue pot at home. So, that part was definitely fun! We will most likely not return to the melting pot for dinner because it is a bit pricey. However, we both agreed it would be a neat place to meet for happy hour and/or drinks with friends over a pot of chocolate fondue!"

  • "I was told before I ate there that I could get a military discount. Then when I went to pay my bill I was told "oh sorry, that is only on Sundays". Make sure your staff knows these details and informs the patron when they ask."

  • "We were looking for something different and were very satisfied. Our server made it his mission to keep us comfortable and the food experience was fun and delicious. We wil be bringing the kids next visit."

  • "I have been to this particular Melting Pot MANY times. That is the only reason I would still recommend this restaurant. My problem was many fold this time. First, took over 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at our table. Second, when my beer was served, it was warm (with a warm glass). I took it to the bar (because I never saw my waiter), and she told me that is how they are all "Chilled". So I gave it back to her and had it removed from my tab. Third, the amount of food prepared at the table. Usually, my wife and I go alone, this time with my two kids (age 4 & 5). The exact same amount of food and dippers were given to us as if we were there alone. I felt like I paid double for the same food. 4th, worst service we've ever had!"

  • "Made reservations and took my bf to this restaurant for his Bday. We had such a great experience all around with the staffs customer service and everything i asked for on the reservation was what we had at the restaurant. Food was amazing. I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends."

  • "I would recommend anyone in a hurry, NOT to go to the Melting Pot. It is a leisure, no rush dinner & atmosphere. The service was outstanding by Brian. As this was my first visit to a Melting Pot, I did not know what to expect. The food, surf & turf was ok, nothing to write home about, but it was quite fun with the Artichoke/Spinach cheese fondue & cooking veggies & meats. Of course, the best part is the chocolate fondue at the end. Very yummy. Because it was my daughter's birthday, the champagne at the end was a lovely touch. "
