The Melting Pot - Atlantic Citya different kind of diningThis was a unique dining experience because you are the chef. The entrees you select are cooked by you tableside in the cooking broth of your choice. At first it seemed that the portions were small but if you order the 4 course meal it winds up being a lot of food! I have read other reviews from diners who complained that the service was very slow but I think it is all a matter of timing. The servers actually spend a great deal of time at each table explaining the menus, preparing the fondues and broths, and bringing any additional items you request. Looked at several of the area restaurants and this was the perfect romantic spot. We loved our private room. The service was outstanding. The food was excellent. It's a dinning experience. The concept of the restaurant is fun, with the appetizer course and dessert course being fondue. I was a little nervous about the main course--we cooked our own choices of meat in a pot of "cooking style." But, our waitress was fantastic and assured us that we couldn't undercook or overcook anything as long as we used her cooking guidelines. Everything was delicious. Our service was wonderful and turned out our server was from our town and went to school with our daughter. It was nice to talk with her and see what she's doing. The food was wonderful and just enough and not too much. Both my husband and I loved the curry sauce and we tried the new lettuce wraps and dark chocolate w/ dolce. Both were wonderful. The Mojo cheese fondue was wonderful as well. We would go back and enjoy again. Wish it wasn't so pricy but understandable when you're there for 2 hours when doing the 4 course option.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFondue effectOnly problem I had was the fact that I made 8pm reservations a week ago, I showed up 5 minutes early and my party was not seated until 8:07, a couple that walked in after us and a party that didn't have reservations was seated before us. The two hostess seemed very confused and did not show much sympathy for seating us late. I am a VIP diner I make my reservations for a certain time I exspect to be seated at that time. Dinner was good as always our server was a little on the slow side when I asked for an additional condiment. I was almost basically done my meal when he finally brought it. At 15, my daugher's pallette is limited but the ability to make a wide range of choices and the desire to experience how the food was being prepared enticed her to try new things. The service was great, along with our server Jake, who made our experience very pleasant. The food was also very good. I love everything about your dining experience although I have to suggest that if you are in a party of 4 or more, 2 cooking pots are a must. We were seated in a private booth, which was awesome. Our waiter, Jocksan, was amazing! He was very pleasant and well-knowledgeable of the Melting Pot menu. We ordered the four course meal specials. The cheese fondue - Wisconsin Trio, the salads - California / House Salad, the main course - Steak Lover's with court bouillon, and the chocolate fondue - The Flaming Turtle was absolutely delicious. Jocksan really went above and beyond to make my sister's birthday celebration special. I highly recommend this Melting Pot location.
