Diner Reviews
  • "With the variety of menu options and the excellence of the food preparations the Med is consistently a family favorite, especially if we have out of town guests. The service was very good and the kitchen very accommodating."

  • "Every time I go here I have a fantastic experience. The tapas menu is the best and there is always great energy in the place. Highly recommend."

  • "I have never had a bad meal here and the service is always wonderful!! The tapas is outstanding! The scallop special was to die for!!"

  • "Our first visit, and definitely not our last. Menu showcases the full circle of Mediterranean cultures; the food is fresh, skillfully prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious."

  • "Honestly the whole experience was overrated in my opinion. I thought the place was pretentious and the service poor. The food was mediocre, and being Middle Eastern, I would know. I am originally from the OKC area and we have much better food here. Everything was over priced, even at happy hour. The best thing I consumed was the White Sangria. If you are in the mood for unauthentic, mediocre, over priced food, then The Med is the place to go. The waiter was nice enough, but our service was watered down... perhaps there was not enough staff on duty? I was shocked to see how busy the place was considering my dissatisfaction with the food. However, I suppose the ambience and happy hour is good enough to draw in a crowd."

  • "We visited the Med for our 55th anniversary. I requested a table in a quieter area of the restaurant (by phone a day before) and was very well accommodated. Our waiter was excellent, and most helpful with suggestions and timeliness in filling our order. In all it was a great experience that we would be delighted to repeat."

  • "We always enjoy the Med. This time, tapas were good, arugula salad not so much. Too much cheese & could not find the pear. Would not have again."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "Had a business dinner there and ordered chicken kabob. It would be nice if there had been more than two, tiny pieces of chicken. Perhaps they are saving money"

  • "We have been there many times and consistently have superb food and service! It probably is our favorite restaurant overall"

  • "I was looking for a romantic place to take my lovely wife to celebrate our 4th anniversary and was hopeful when I booked with The Med. I made my reservation online then followed up with a call to the restaurant to confirm my request for a romantic table and some acknowledgment when we arrived of our special occasion. When we arrived for dinner I was not disappointed! We were seated at a more private table for two, the wait staff congratulated us on our anniversary and brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne, and I was even allowed to use the little candle I'd used for one of our first dates for our table that night. My wife and I were treated great and loved it. Thanks Met folks, we'll be back soon!"

  • "I recently took a young friend and her 2-year old daughter to the Mediterranean for lunch. I had taken my niece and her young daughter for Tapas a few weeks earlier. The Tapas menu was also available for lunch, which was fine with me. I love the Tapas choices. But, what I also love about the Med is that children are given very special attention and families with children are treated by the staff with great respect. From the booster seat that came out immediately to a special water cup with straw to taking our picture before we left, our waiter was wonderfully attentive. After two great experiences bringing families with children to the Med, I will think of the Med first in the future when adults and children will be dining together."

  • "Super Happy Hour Tapas with a wide selection of small plates and choices. Tasting the different tapas plates of skewered shrimp, lamb, hummus, mushrooms, flatbreads, and salads created a fun experience. The menu has something for everyone and those that want a full dinner or pizza can enjoy that as well. The wait staff was professional, providing quick and caring service. I particularly enjoyed the sunny outdoor patio with umbrella. The Med is casually sophisticated with a warm engaging atmosphere."

  • "We needed a large table so I immediately thought of the Med. I requested outdoors and we got just that. It was perfection!! Until it started raining...our server immediately appeared and asked if we wanted to move. Since its Boulder, we thought it might pass in moments so we asked to wait. It didn't pass and in minutes she was back and said she was already saving a table for us inside so we could move right in. It was seamless, painless and a real joy to reconnect with an old friend and her huge family with such ease. Thank you!!!"

  • "We returned to the Med on our way to Estes Park and once again really enjoyed the food variety and quality. Their Tapas portions were great to share. Happy hour menu was well priced, good variety, served hot and lots of flavor. House wine was much better than many places. Staff was friendly, professional and perky. We will definitely be back."

  • "I have been here on a number of occasions for lunch dates. It has always been very good. My last time, I had the most wonderfully delicious entrée. I'm surprised it didn't catch my attention before. It was the cannelloni with chicken. It is not a pasta dish. The cannelloni itself was made from a rolled tortilla. It was absolutely scrumptious. This place will continue to be on my fav list."

  • "Very lively atmosphere, Their Tapas are the best, never got to the entree'."

  • "Although the Med was very busy, the staff did a great job of filling orders promptly and correctly. Pizza, sandwiches and salad were all excellent. The patio was lovely."

  • "Our waitress was also the bartender and she was clearly not having a good day. There seems to be plenty of staff available but we our service left a lot to be desired."

  • "The service was a bit detached. I had to retrieve my own silverware for our appetizer. Overall experience was great."

  • "The Med is an excellent downtown Boulder restaurant. A vibrant, casual scene. Inside is quite noisy, but the patio is cozy and comfortable, unfortunately, there is no mountain view. Tapas are outstanding."

  • "We took my niece, her husband and their 7-month old baby to the Mediterranean for Tapas last Friday, late afternoon. We only made a reservation for 4, but they gladly added a high-chair and a table for 5. We had tried to make a reservation for 5 at 5, but were told none was available. But, when we arrived they graciously set up a high chair for the baby. The food was terrific and our waiter was wonderfully and cheerfully patient as we added dishes and the baby dropped food on the floor! In fact, all the diners around us enjoyed along with us how much fun the baby was having! We will definitely take the extended family back to the Mediterranean for Tapas."

  • "The Med remains among our favorites, not just in Boulder, but all of Denver Metro. The small, tapas-style plates are other-worldly good, with the pastas and other entrees consistently terrific. Our favorite remains the paella, which is so good you remember what it tasted like a week later. Yes, it's noisy. But it's also reasonably-priced. Great cocktails and wine list, too, with outstanding but not cloying service."

  • "The food is always good and consistent. While the restaurant is noisy the patio is lovely on a summer evening. I love their happy hour with half price tapas. Its popular so get there early. Lunch and dinner has always been good. Great selection of vegetarian and gluten free"

  • "Always a good choice for out of town friends . The med was excellent, impeccable service, and everyone ordered something they enjoyed due to the extensive menu. Loved my visit to the Med !"

  • "My wife and I ate at the Mediterranean for our third anniversary. We have eaten there a couple of times before, and the tapas are always fantastic. We did have a miscommunication with our waitress over a beverage order, but it was taken care of quickly and politely. The atmosphere is fairly spacious, and when it is nice outside there is pleasant outdoor seating. Even though it is a large restaurant, it is usually busy, so I would strongly recommend making a reservation first. Open Table is very convenient for this purpose, and you can cancel/modify your reservation at any time."

  • "bacon wrapped dates... just go with it and give it a try. Happy hour is a great way to be introduced to the Mediterranean , do small plates , salad and a drink. Before you know it , your belly will be happy and your taste buds will be spoiled with delight of awesome flavors. As an added delight we had a desert and OH MY !!! We went with the recommendation of the waiter, nicely done."

  • "After several great dining experiences we took a friend from out of town here on a Fri. night. We chose to sit outside & were seated immediately. The ambiance was great. The inside of the restaurant was super noisy so I was happy to get away from the noise. Our waitress took our drink & food orders quickly & both arrived fairly soon. Our waitress pretty much disappeared after that. We all completely finished our drinks & never even had a chance to request seconds. I had the baked eggplant dish which was quite good. My husband would have liked dessert but we were a bit irritated with service at that point so we opted to leave and get dessert elsewhere. I think it was probably just an off night. We will most likely try again."

  • "Mediterranean is an excellent restaurant in downtown Boulder. We ate there on Thursday evening and it was packed. The space is fairly modern and quite nice yet casual. Our server, Bryant, was wonderful. The food was excellent. When they named the restaurant, they meant it - Spanish, Italian, Greek - it's all there and well executed. Our table shared some tapas and then ordered main courses. There was one problem. My hangar steak was supposed to be medium-rare, but it came out medium-well. When the waiter asked, I told him that my steak was not done properly. They not only replaced it with a properly cooked steak, they took the main course off of my bill. That is the kind of response I expect from a fine restaurant."

  • "Sat at a lovely table that was not too noisy, fabulous server named Larry who had some great information about the wines we were looking at, and every bit if good that came to our table was delicious."

  • "The tapas we shared were generally good, but perhaps over salted. The Chocolate Tower desert was outstanding."

  • "I want to start off by saying the food was better than expected. Let's move to the crying/running around/1000 of children that destroyed any dining experience that a human could have. After dinner we went to a McDonald's playland for some peace and quiet. I understand you make more money off families and maybe even more money off really loud families. Stick with it and don't worry about the rest of us. "

  • "Great place for a lively gathering. This place was hopping Memorial Day weekend. The tapas menu is wonderful, and easy - like ordering sushi! Just check off what you want and the quantity. Nice option for a large group that wants to share dishes."

  • "With poor management and questionable service our first sip of wine came 44 minutes after our 6:15 reservation for which we arrived early. The evening was only saved by the excellent food. "
