Those things are addictive! We also ordered the burrata appetizer, which consisted of a very small, melted piece of cheese in a tomato sauce. Not evidence of truffle oil, but the waiter brought some for us when we asked. I think the current version of the dish and the menu description differ, so consider yourself warned. :) I also had the Eggplant Parmesan, which was fine, nothing to write home about. The bread was divine. My friend had mussels Provençal with frites and enjoyed the dish very. much. Did I mention the fried artichoke hearts are addictive? Tapas were very new and we've never had a bad one. Eating lunch at the Med is always fun! If anything, the Med has become TOO popular! You seem to be busy all the time which is only bad because when the restaurant is very full, it's very noisy. But our most recent lunch was at 1:30 pm on a weekday afternoon and it was just wonderful! Quiet and homey and the service was great!
P.S. They offer a tapis menu as well as lunch/dinner, so Mediterranean food according to your pallet and serving size. The salmon with my salad was grilled to my specs, medium rare. My husband's swordfish kabob was delicious. He really enjoyed it. The bread basket is fresh. This is a more noisy restaurant and the tables are close to each other, but not so noisy to keep us from returning to one of our favorites in Boulder. Great place to migrate to, sit down and enjoy outstanding food at reasonable prices in a most pleasant, flower-bedecked atmosphere. I think they offer the best pizzas in town, having tried them all. The Tapas menu was a real treat, although you have to watch yourself or you'll get carried away with too many of those delectable little morsels before dinner. They have an amazing Tapas selection and the desserts are to die for. I usually get one of the Paellas and they have all been outstanding. The Paella this time was good but not as good - a bit dry and undercooked.
Service is very spotty. Our server started out well then ignored us as soon as we got our food. She walked by over a dozen times while we sat waiting for boxes and to order dessert. We finally got someone else's attention when we walked up to the table with the water pitcher and refilled our own. A couple of times, near the bar it was a bit too noisy for chatting with friends. This time we were away from the bar and the noise level was very pleasant.
My husband wasn't sure about a wine so they asked if he wanted a sample before ordering. This was very helpful. All 4 of us ordered different meals and the waitress recommended the Vegetarian for ME, the vegetarian of the group. It was wonderful with just the right amount of feta cheese. We were having such fun that we splurged and split 2 desserts between the 4 of us. Also splurged on wonderful 8 oz. lattes! too much food but it was SO Worth it!! It's always busy and noisy, but there are plenty of places to sit where you can carry on a conversation. The bustle lends energy to the restaurant that is welcoming and friendly. Wait staff are well trained. The menu is so large that there definitely will be something for even the pickiest eater. Prices are reasonable and the food is consistently good. There is a large selection of reasonably-priced wines that complement the menu well. You need a reservation since the Med is one of the most popular restaurants in Boulder and often there are people lined up outside waiting to get in.
