The MarrowGood foodI was looking forward to eating here. The food was good, not exceptional. It is a nice, plain setting, and good service. I believe that, if I lived in the neighborhood, I would go there more often. However, it is not worth the trip.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first dinner at Marrow. Our first dinner at Marrow. A very good first impression! The menu is a little limited, but what we ordered was nicely prepared and was delicious. The staff was exceptional! From when we entered the restaurant we were greeted warmly nd given excellent service. Our waiter was not only well informed on the menu and various wine option, but was very attentitive. Checked in throughout dinner to ensure we were taken care of, but done in a way that wasn't intrusive to our conversation and enjoying the evening. He was outstanding. Recommend this restaurant. We will dine there again5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest I've had in a whileI've been in New York for almost a year now and this is definitely one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. I cook a lot myself and I thoroughly enjoyed the extensive and interesting options that The Marrow provides. Everything from start to finish was great. The service was impeccable and the ambiance great in a spacious, beautiful nook of the west village. The bone marrow appetizer was the best bone marrow preparation that I've ever had and the Ginger beer cake did not disappoint (Reason I first heard about the restaurant). Definitely recommend to any foodie who likes to have a menu with an array of out-of-the-box options.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMoutstanding service .. bothoutstanding service .. both at the bar and at our table!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, excellent cocktailsWe started off with Herr Pamplemousse and a glass of bubbly. Tasty—everyone wanted another cocktail! We had the crispy duck, hen of the woods, halibut...followed by the Berliners and chocolate cake. So so worth it! My German colleague.wouldn't stop eating the cake, it reminded him so much of home!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMeat-centric, all goodWe had a great meal of mostly meat at the Marrow. The "slightly saurbrautened" ribs were incredible, and I greatly enjoyed my duck schnitzel. The roast chicken -- a throw away at many restaurants -- was actually incredible and stole the show. Cocktails, especially one made with sage, were impressive. And they have some surprisingly comfortable round booths (a rarity in the west village) that can easily accomodiate 4 to 6, and seated our party of 3 spaciously. All in all a great addition from Harold Dieterle (perilla, kin shop, and the first season of top chef). I've been eating at Perilla for years, but the Marrow is now his top shop in my book.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bone marrow was amazing. The bone marrow was amazing. Short ribs were also delicious.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, but the serviceGreat food, but the service is what made the whole experience wonderful. They split our entrees without us having to ask, and our server was excited and knowledgeable about the menu. The wine list is great as well, with a nice range of prices and regions.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service was amazing. The food and service was amazing.
From begging people to come, we ended up sitting at the table for 4 hours with one amazing dish and bottle wine after the other.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here was very goodThe food here was very good and the service was great.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new restaurantVisiting from London I was eager to try this new "hot" opening and it did not disappoint. The menu is interesting and the food delivered looked and tasted great. Well-priced and varied wine list.
Excellent service from start to go.
Vibrant and lively ambiance without being too noisy.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at The MarrowThe food was good, but I wasn't blown away from anything. We had the Lardo w. sturgeon caviar, very good just wish I could have received more than one bite for 15$. But none the less very good. The bone marrow was delicious and my sole reason for going to this resturant it needed a bit more uni but really a very buttery and delicious dish. We had a bunch of other starters all of which were good but the main courses seemed very flat compared to the starters. BUT I have to say that the gingerbread dessert with ice cream was fantastic, I was very pleasently surprised.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time visiting in aSecond time visiting in a weeks time. First time was at the bar and the service, food, drinks and patrons were all exceptional. Second visit was with a date at a table and once again everything was top notch. I highly recommend this spot (don't forget to fill your wallet with cash).4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great new additionWhat a great new addition to the West Village!
Adorable location and such a warm & friendly staff.
Had the duck liver pate with gooseberry compote. It was incredible. The staff couldn't be any nicer, as when I inquired that my mother was having the toughest time finding gooseberry jam anywhere, the chef sold me an actual pint of his stock for her!
We also had the grilled romaine salad, which was phenomenal and the duck schnitzel, which was good, too. Topped off our meal with the salted caramel and vanilla gelatti. I ordered a lovely pinot noir rose, which was light and perfect for a warm spring night.
I will definitely be back for brunch!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery accommodating service.Very accommodating service. When I called the day of the reservation to confirm it I said that we would also have a toddler with us because of a babysitter cancellation and they said it was no problem. Then almost the entire party showed up late due to traffic but it was again no problem. And of course it only got better with the incredible food, definitely need to have three courses to try as much as possible on the menu. All in all a great dining experience!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was great. TheOur waiter was great. The food was exceptional, the combinations of flavor s were bursting in your mouth, however each dish was delicate and tasty. We tried and shared different dishes and all were wonderful. Not being an egg eater, entree choices on the brunch menu are limited.
The bratwurst was tasty although not too hot. Loved the mustard.
Friend had the burger and was very pleased.
Pretzel rolls delicious.
Tables are quite close together.
Service was very attentive but not intrusive.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingReally outstanding restaurant, with a wide panoramic view of the best street in all of New York City.
The marrow with sea urchin was entirely unique. The juniper braised lamb neck was like candy. Great wine selection, very good deserts.
Foodies are able to explore the uniqueness and complexity of the menu, while the less adventurous are still able to find staples will find equally fantastic.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I have enjoyedMy husband and I have enjoyed all of Harold Dieterle's restaurants. The food at the Marrow was a very interesting and tasty fusion of Italian and German. My husband raved about the marrow appetizer and I loved the duck entree. The service was spot on, the mood was comfortable. It was a lovely experience. Thank you!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply wow!!!All I can say is wow!!!
