Diner Reviews
  • "The best part of this meal was the bone marrow, very very good. The slow cooked duck egg, kinda tasted like something mushed together, wasn't bad but not like wow or anything like that....the griddled TM burger is alright, it just didn't perk my taste that much and the veges on the side like kale or sugar snap peas were too oily n fried, that is just so american and blaa to me having good healthy veges that oily. Other dishes my friends ordered like the S U C K L I N G P I G S A L T I M B O C C A , R O A S T E D N A T U R A L C H I C K E N, and G R I L L E D L E G O F L A M B was good but hmmm since the best was the bone marrow n pretty good rice balls, i rather go back to Crispo where there were more dishes i liked than here really..."

  • "Such a kind and knowledgeable staff, really tasty food! It's a little too dark and loud- not ideal for a table of 4. Better for a smaller group, or sitting at the bar. They had great wine specials when we went, and a good looking counter set up at the bar! The food, from pretzel rolls to ginger cake, and the marrow! Was amazing! (Portions are really large)"

  • "Went for Brunch and I must say it was Delicious. The menu is creative with more than your usual selections. The staff is pleasant and attentive but not overbearing, The food ridiculously good. The duck meatloaf sandwich was light and flavorful. The eggs and hash had two perfectly cooked eggs on top of bites of potatoes and corn beef, not the usual mashed up hash. The squid ink pasta fresh and not fishy, the sauce a great complement to it. If you like Brussel sprouts order them. They are crispy and combined with crisp kale tossed in an amazing dressing. Overall it was a feast to remember."

  • "Recently had Sunday brunch at the Marrow. The staff were really accommodating when i wanted to increase my booking from six to nine people and change the time. There were also very attentive during our meal. The food was excellent, particularly the duck meatloaf which was a total standout. Coffee was also very good. Will definitely be coming back."

  • "Very loud (deafening) restaurant. Tables nicely spaced. Nice bar area. Interesting and fairly priced wine list with some depth in German whites. Triggerfish entree excellent. Garganelli appetizer only fair--needed more flavor. Sauerbraten entree special very disappointing--virtually no flavor in the dish beyond the appropriately mildly sour flavor of the meat; covered in oily vegetables; reminded me of the bad old days of uninspired German cooking."

  • "Very nice place although it is not exactly very famous. Excellent food and the price is not bad at all."

  • "Marrow had a nice quiet atmosphere and very good food. Had a dish in which the marrow was a it strong, but after all that is what they serve!"

  • "Freshly baked pretzel bun = win! Burrata all mozzarella on the outside but creamy insde = win! Pan Fried Duck Schnitzel = win! left full and VERY happy!"

  • "i had the steak which was ok, however my friend had the duck schnitzel and it was awful so he was honest with them, send it back, then they brought him the lamb which was also really bad. I have lived in this area for about 5 years and there are tons of great places. these guys need to get their act together being in such a competitive location."

  • "What an amazing meal, service, ambience. So much so that my guest made a reservation for next week. It was a delightful evening: we stayed for hours and were never treated like peasants because we came for Restaurant Week.."

  • "I've wanted to eat at this restaurant ever since they first opened, and now I have. It was a wonderful experience. Everything, from the service to the food was wonderful, and makes me yearn to return!"

  • "I manage a restaurant in SoHo and have heard many guests recommend this spot for dinner. Our party made a res for restaurant week and each chose a different item off the pre fixe menu. It was all delicious! The featured skate wing was a bit too salty but upon a second attempt was divine. The wine selection was lovely; I loved the beaujolais by the glass. We loved the dessert selection. The milk chocolate panna cotta melted in my mouth! Service was exemplary, I will definitely return for the traditional menu. Thanks for everything!"

  • "Went for 2014 Restaurant Week, but added on The Bone Marrow - delicious but hardly any marrow on the bone. Was really looking forward to the mussels as an appetizer but they ran out, so I settled for the beef carpaccio instead. It was good but nothing to rave about, if I went again I would definitely get the sunchoke soup instead. The Pork Rib Chops was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and a huge portion. My friends had the pappadelle and said it was good. The milk chocolate panna cotta was alright. Not the best Restaurant Week selection, but would definitely go again to try other menu items."

  • "4 girls out for a fun night and hoping for a great dining experience at Marrow. We all did the restaurant week menu - but we added some starters. For starters we had the Brussels sprouts, duck liver toast and charred cabbage - all fantastic. Apps were the soup and steak tartare. All chose the Pork Chop entree and it was not only delicious but perfectly cooked and huge! For dessert we all had the chocolate panna cotta that was creamy and rich and perfect. Bottles of reisling were all half price that evening and we chose a sparkling bottle that was perfect. Actually we had 2 bottles!! Why not? Pace of the meal was perfect. No rush but no long gaps of time waiting for courses or service. Thank you, Harold!! Yummmmmmm."

  • "Dispite bing over half an hour late for my reservation, the hostess was very polite and managed to seat us quickly. The service here is outstanding, but aside from that the food was to die for. We came here on a saturday for restaurant week but overlooked the fact that the restaurant week menu is not served on weekends. It was a bit of a bummer but decided to go all out on the menu!!! so glad we did. Honestly everything on the menu is great! but the bruschetta and the crab spagetti.... Oh! and the salmon! man! everything was awesome. Need to come back and try the signature bone marrow dish! but overall This place is def my new favorite!"

  • "Great surprise that it was chef Harold restaurant. The presentation and food flavors were good, the bone Marrow was wow, but the lamb was slightly salty. Great selection of Rieslings."

  • "I went on sunday. I though it was for restaurant week but realized that they only did that during the week. Still the menu was very reasonable for brunch! It was absolutely outstanding! We had the Pancakes and the Marrow Burger. Incredibly flavorful. Will definitely go back! Also the service was terrific."

  • "The Marrow is exceptionally well presented. This place really knocked it out of the park for Restaurant Week. The menus, both cocktail and dinner, had really great combinations of flavors, while still accessible and unique. The food itself was prepared perfectly, especially their namesake, the marrow. Highly recommended. My girlfriend, who had some very large reservations about it, definitely had her mind changed. The ambiance, service, food and drink was an all in all fantastic experience. We'll definitely return."

  • "Six of us went for an early Restaurant Week dinner. Selection was a bit disappointing. Octopus salad, pastichio, salmon over pilaf. Everything was well prepared. Chocolate baklava was yum. Service was attentive. While were were given a table too close to the bar it may have been noisier among the tables further back. Table spacing is generous and appreciated. Overall, we were well pleased."

  • "I dined at The Marrow with my best girlfriends. The service was great and the hostess was EXTREMELY knowledgable about the wine selection. She was able to suggest a great German wine that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The food was flavorful and left us satisfied rather than overstuffed. It was a great evening and would gladly dine there again."

  • "Loved my brunch here. Had the duck fritatta and it was cooked very well and there was A LOT of duck in it. The rest of my party really enjoyed their meals too (burger & hash dishes). I'm from out of town but would definitely go back!"

  • "Finally! small plates that truly allows for sampling of their menu... the marrow bone was finger liking good. Good wine for the reasonable price. Will definitely go again."

  • "My food was good but I must say that some of the pappardelle was thick on the ends. The pork dish my cousin had was an odd rib cut served pink and a bit tough. We ate the restaurant week menu."

  • "Everything was perfect from the food to the staff. Even during busy restaurant week everythign was smooth. Will definitely recommend and return."

  • "My husband and I both ordered from the restaurant week prix fixe menu: Scarlett Butter Lettuce Salad and the Country Style Grilled Pork Rib Chop. We both agreed that the chop was one of the best we ever had, and that's saying something from a Chicago native. The staff and ambiance was perfect for a Friday night dinner. Our only complaint is that our drinks were a stingy pour. For us, a restaurant's bar service/offerings/portions are as important as the menu offerings."

  • "All our dishes were perfectly prepared and presented. Harold Dieterle continues to create menus that impress but never have a wow factor. Reliable is the best way to describe Marrow."

  • "I only had what was on the restaurant week menu, but everything was spectacular from the cocktails to the food. I started out with the mussels that were very good and had a nice kick to them and continued onto the pork chop was tremendously cooked and juicy. We have already planned to come back and try the bone marrow since it looked delicious as well."

  • "We went there for Restaurant week .. The food was delicious, we ate everything on our plates.. well balanced, the wine was great. Couldn't say anything more, but a must try .. The location was quiet and truly a neighborhood gem."

  • "I'm a bit partial to this place because it is one of Harold Dieterle's restaurants. But in all fairness, the porkchop I had was the most delicious hunk of pork I have ever had. It was tender and flavorful throughout. The mussels and sunchoke soup were delicious as well. I went during restaurant week, so there were only a few dishes that I could choose from but if those are any indication of the rest of the menu, then I can't wait to go back and try the rest."

  • "Had just returned from a work trip in Vail for a week and thought it would be tough for The Marrow to impress me - but the food was incredible, everything. I had the pleasure of trying three desserts (the PB semifredo, black forest cake and raspberry tort) and they were phenomenal. It was also Valentine's day and we didn't feel like we were being packed in. Happy I live in walking distance, will definitely be back."

  • "If you are worried that it will be too gamey, don't be turned away by the name, as there is only one appetizer with bone marrow. Was there with a group of girls and there were enough fish options and light fare to keep all happy. Started with the house rigatoni and crudo and both were spectacular. One friend ordered the marrow and it was gone before I could nab a bite. I personally ordered the lamb loin which is prepared rare and was so soft and tender that I am already dreaming of going back for another round. Desserts were great too. Another note: The restaurant has a great vibe but you can actually have a conversation without shouting. So rare for NYC!! Definitely worth the visit."

  • "I have been to Marrow about three times. The first few times I found the food to be simply spectacular--very interesting menu offerings. My most recent visit--the food was good but not as appealing as I initially found it. The menu changes often so it could be that it was just not a combination of my preferred items. I will still go back. The room is cozy, love the location and the service is usually great."

  • "I was given a gift certificate for christmas to The Marrow. So glad!! The cocktails were yummy and fun, the service was approachable and so attentive, the food was amazing and the dessert was out of this world. I want to go back soon. I know that I dont have time for a full meal, but can I get wine and dessert at the bar? the ginger stout cake rocked my life. First time I have not been able to finish dessert, because the whole meal was to incredible that I had no more space for anything. Sunday a nice night to go."

  • "Second time there and the "bone marrow" was still sublime and superb. We look forward to more visits. The pastas are special and fairly unique for New York. An really enjoyable place and a true find for different occasions. If you get a chance try some of their cocktails too."
