"Excellent service - food was great and timed well - even though they were very busy that night with a couple of large group tables - normally this restaurant has smaller groups of two or four. Maine Crab Meat was the best - especially on a Friday. Wine is always sold at cost from the marketplace making it very reasonably priced. Great as a neighborhood place to eat out. I had not been there in a couple of months but they remembered us from our last visit - that was a nice surprise."

"This was the second time that I have dined at the Bistro and it was completely different that the first time. The service was disorganized and unattentive, the food was average and things couldn't have been more different from my previous experience. Last time the service was attentive without being obtrusive and the food was excellent. I will check the Bistro out again but I may not stay if I see the same wait staff working again."

"Fox & Obel's Market Bistro has it all: great, creative food; low prices and a great ambiance. The menu changes regularly and almost all the entrees are under $20, a great deal considering the quality of the food. At brunch, my husband and I had a mimosa, fresh squeezed orange juice, the Amish chicken hash (a wonderful combo of gooey, crunchy and savory), the Fisherman's eggs (Eggs Benedict with smoked trout), a side of sausage and home fries and all of that cost $40!

Only caveat is that since the space is so small, service can be a little slow, but that just gives you time to relax, digest and enjoy the view of the Chicago River and riverwalk."

"were here on st pat's day--so they were quite busy. kitchen services both the cafe and market. we were lucky with our food order, the table next to us waited for over 1/2 hour for their order to be delivered. will try on a normal day"

"Nothing elegant, romantic or special about this place. It's just convenient, low end of pricing or a table cloth light dinner & conversation friendly. They did seem understaffed for a Saturday night; long wait for our uncomplicated dinner to arrive. The menu is small, no sandwiches, one fish, one chicken, two steaks, no complicated dishes etc. What was good was there were ordinary size (4 oz) & regular sizes (8 oz) to several of the entres."
