The service was good and
attentive, but food was was not impressive enough that we would go back. Our guest wanted a lite beer, but was told nothing available - what?! I was stunned that there was no lite beer offered, this is Michiana, not Manhattan. Mixed drinks were well made, craft beers good. We were expecting to have a better experience."

I enjoyed the restaurant, it was
great for my limited diet (Paleo). However, it was EXTREMELY loud. I had to yell the entire time I was there just to have a conversation. After dinner when we walked outside, it was hard for my ears to adjust to the lower sound levels. I will not be going back because of this. The dinning area is open, and almost all cement, it has an open kitchen. I think all of this added to to the noise level. Maybe it's quieter during lunch, but it was way to loud for dinner."

I was disappointed, by the
experience. The location is great and the atmosphere is pleasant, but the service was spotty, and they didn't seem prepared for a pre game crowd. Considering the proximity to Notre Dame, it seemed a perfect spot to eat before a game. There were two larger tables of fifteen and the restaurant was ill prepared to handle a rush. The food is pretty much Bistro food, so I was disappointed at how long it took to be served. The chattering just bounced off the ceiling and the tile floor. it was quite a loud din. I think they would do well to add some sort of flooring or barriers to muffle the sound."

I took my girlfriend here for
Valentine's Day dinner. Our reservation was at 5:30 but they sat us about 10 minutes early with no waiting. Our server was awesome; she made great recommendations and explained all the food really well, as it was our first time there. She was very attentive and one of those people you just like! The menu looked so amazing, we had to ask for recommendations and still couldn't decide! My girlfriend got a burger and I got the chicken pot pie. I couldn't decide between that and the mac and cheese, so our server brought us a little bowl of it to try! The food was so good. My beer on tap was awesome. All around great experience. We'll definitely be back because there were a lot more things we want to try!"

Food was delicious. Beer selection
was good, and they make a tasty bloody. Service was great - attentive but not overbearing. Sometimes you lower the bar a little when assessing a restaurant in a small town, but The Mark would hold its own in a city."
Dined on 2/16/2014
The appetizer was good (Goat
Cheese), but the main courses were overpriced, steak wasn't cooked correctly after two attempts and the side of green beans were undercooked. I don't mind spending $80 for a quality meal, but this was very disappointing for a special night (Valentine's Day). Perhaps it was due to the fact that they don't typically cook some of the steak entrees that were on the evening specials."

College kid on a budget: slightly
pricey but great for a special occasion."
Dined on 2/14/2014
The food was very good but the
dining room was freezing. When people enter the cold comes in and hits the tables in the front. I had a reservation, got to the restaurant early at 5:15pm, was promptly seated at the first table. I asked to be moved to a warmer location and was move one table back, hardly enough to be protected from the cold. I was told that the other tables were reserved even though I did not see reserved signs on many. My guests froze and the service was very slow, which made for a long unpleasant evening. I'd think twice about going to this restaurant when it is cold outside."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Very nice, food was awesome, staff
very polite and attentive. Menu was so appealing it was hard to choose just one item!"
Dined on 2/10/2014
I had the grilled bone-in pork
chop, which was cooked to order but lacked seasoning/flavor. The sauce was very flavorful, with a good balance of sweet and tart. It saved the chop, but it was a bit over-sauced, which interfered with the flavor of the asparagus and risotto. Speaking of the risotto, it was outstanding!! By far my favorite thing on the plate. Their selection of spirits and cocktails is one of the best around town. Service and ambiance were above average but some may find it on the noisy side at times."

Duck breast, beautifully prepared
in a wine reduction with confit. Good green salad with tasty dressing. A great dining experience as usual."

Food was good fun to people watch.
Good bar looked interesting Just a little loud."

Had a business lunch here the
other day and enjoyed yet another great time. The waitress recommended one of the lunch specials which are usually something quite unique from the chef. I am glad she did (it was a BLT with salmon and an egg -- everything was cooked perfectly down to the bread itself). I have never had a disappointing meal at this place (that says a lot) -- I have been there at least six times and I really appreciate their efforts."
Dined on 1/20/2014
Very much enjoyed our first visit
to The Mark. The food was excellent and our waitress made sure we got out in time to attend the Notre Dame Men's Basketball we had tickets to. I had the brisket which was amazing. My husband had a spicy chicken stir fry which he loved, but it was spicy to the point that he started sweating! He enjoyed a special type of beer they recommended. We also had the fried jalapeno's as an appetizer and that was delicious with their sauce. We heard prior that anything on the menu would be good. We will definitely be back!"

The Mark might actually be better
than its sister restaurant, Uptown Kitchen. This was not true at first, but it seems that there has been a transformation."
Dined on 1/18/2014
This is my favorite restaurant
near Notre Dame. Great food, innovative and always delicious. The meatloaf is to die for!"
Dined on 1/12/2014
This is a great place to eat. Is
good for work lunches as they take reservations. Service was awesome at lunch time and staff was pleasant."
Dined on 1/9/2014
I had heard some positive things
about this place, and so we decided to try it out for New Year's Eve. It was more casual than I expected, but that would likely encourage me to come back as I thought it was a "special occasion" restaurant. The service was really good, and the menu has a really large variety of options."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Great restaurant right near
stadium at Notre Dame. Food is excellent, service outstanding and desserts are to die for."
Dined on 11/22/2013
We brought out of town business
associates to the Mark for dinner and every aspect of the evening was great."
Dined on 11/20/2013
A very satisfying dinner later in
the evening after theater at the Mark. The Chilean sea bass was outstanding and a wonderful list of interesting craft beers both domestic and foreign. My only squabble is that we asked for bread to accompany the meal and we were not informed that there would be a $1.50 charge. Also worth mentioning the delicious Saint Gerome sparkling water."
Dined on 11/15/2013
Portions are generous and food is
presented well. Wait staff is good. Prices are moderately high but you get what you pay for and portions are on the large side. Good for business client entertaining prior to a ND game as they will get you out on time."
Dined on 11/16/2013
I chose this location based on
it's proximity to ND and the reviews on Open Table and Yelp. I consider myself to be a foodie and was really excited for our experience but unfortunately the restaurant doesn't live up to it's hype. We had an 8 pm reservation and arrived 10 minutes early just to make sure we didn't lose it. We we're told by the hostess that we'd be sat at our reservation time but that didn't happen until 8:20. Note to her, be honest with your customers instead of telling them what you think they want to hear. All in all they seemed to be understaffed because the service was slow at the bar and in the dining room. Not to mention the food was just missing that special something that sets them apart from the competitor."

Excellent Sunday Brunch menu.
Limited menu done well. Good value for the $$"
Dined on 11/3/2013
An excellent alternative to the
McRestaurants and McBars on Eddy St near Notre Dame. Intersting choices; comfort food with a twist. Our service was excellent also. This is a must-do on ND weekends."

Great spot for Friday night dinner
before ND Home football games"
Dined on 11/2/2013
Went here after a Notre Dame
football game. Despite the crowds the service and food were excellent. Lively location and great staff."
Dined on 11/3/2013
There during football weekend,
they were not very flexible on reservations but as I sat there many table were empty after they told me I had to be there on time. Food was just "ok" nothing special."
Dined on 11/2/2013
The noise level is so high that it
is nearly impossible to hear anyone at your table speaking. Some of the food was good but some was mediocre. The service was very good. So overall, we had a mixed experience."
Dined on 10/23/2013
The Mark is conveniently located
on Eddy Street, with a good menu. The service is pretty good and the service staff friendly. My only complaint is the sound level. They need some rugs to help with the noise. You can only speak to the person on either side of you. Having said that we will be back at least once very weekend we visit Notre Dame."
Dined on 10/19/2013
Had a reservation at 530 pm (we
actually checked in at 5 so we can be assured a seating near our time) finally was seated at 6. The meal itself was so-so if that ! Would not recommend this restaurant if your attending a Notre Dame football game because you'll be assured to miss the beginning of the game."
Dined on 10/20/2013
Did a great job on an ND game
night. Reservation time was honored--meals and service did not suffer with the crowd."
Dined on 10/20/2013
We enjoyed a great lunch at the
Mark Dine and Tap before the ND/USC game! Glad we had reservations because the place was full. We were all pleased with the healthy choices before the big game. The brown rice and vegetable stir-fry was really delicious! The menu offered a great variety to please all of us with dinners, sandwiches and great drinks too! Lots of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options as well. The service was great too! We will be back!"
Dined on 10/19/2013
We really enjoyed the food and
wine, but we went with another couple and found it difficult to hear each other. While I appreciate a lively scene, it was loud for us."
Dined on 10/5/2013
The Mark moved our reservation
without calling us, delaying our meal by 45 minutes. The food came out 50 minutes after we were finally seated. Staff was not apologetic, and offered only a modest discount for the trouble."
Dined on 9/29/2013
Friendly, personable staff backed up by a manager genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our dining experience. Surprisingly quick service in the midst of a post- football game crush of customers. Am already looking forward to returning next week."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Very good food. We all liked our
salads, entrees and desserts. But, it was very loud. Large groups came in and the noise levels went way up. Maybe because it was Sat night? We had a table of 7 and we had trouble hearing one another. I've been there for lunch several times and it was great."
Dined on 9/15/2013
We took a group of 9 here on
Saturday for an early lunch. Everyone ordered from the lunch menu. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and found that about half of us were happy with our choices. My wife's burger was not cooked to the temp that she ordered it. I had the brisket and it came cold. Neither of us asked to have corrections made as we were somewhat short for time. Others in our group were much happier. Our server did a great job. She knew the menu, anticipated our needs and was pleasant at all times. We don't get to South Bend often but if we do this restaurant would be a good option compared to the choices near ND campus."
Dined on 9/14/2013
This place is one of our
favorites. My husband and I have a little one at home so we don't venture out often. When we do, we make sure we choose a place that is worth it! The food and service at The Mark never disappoint. We only wished they hadn't run out of an IPA that we wanted to try."
Dined on 9/12/2013
Overall a good experience except
for the fact that they kept us waiting for about half hour before seating us at a table that was open when we arrived. If we didn't have a reservation I could understand how this could happen, but we did have a reservation (thru Open Table). Otherwise the staff was very helpful and attentive."
