Diner Reviews
  • "We were in town for the NCAA tournament which was a wicked weekend for weather. This restaurant came highly recommended and I know why! We were tickled pink with every course on our tasting menus. The service was kind and unassuming, the bar area was lively, which was nice otherwise it would of been to stuffy. Unfortunately we did not get to dine outside on the Terrace."

  • "The food was good but the taste of the main product was hidden by spices and other condiments. My girlfriend, for instance, took the lamb and did taste it at all because the sauce and spices took over the lamb itSelf. Also the service was disappointing. Very intrusive (I mentioned during the reservation that I wanted a romantic and quiet table for the reservation) but they constantly came to ask how the food was. They even came and served a "mise en bouche" when I just gave my girlfriend her birthday present."

  • "The food was wonderful and very creative. Service was outstanding. Will definitely return."

  • "What a fabulous experience! Almost beyond words! The service was friendly and courteous. The food was impecable, beautiful and delicious. The chef is an artist in creating complex flavors, playing with different textures and achieving the perfect balance in his dishes. It was a long dinner and we enjoyed every minute of it, always anticipating whether the next dish would be as fantastic or better as the last. It was truly a treat! and can't wait to be back!"

  • "Food, service, and exquisite art maintain Rosewood REPUTATION. Menu interesting and delicious; wine list accommodates diverse tastes and budgets. Regrettably, dining experience MISSES MARK for what is expected at The Mansion: NOISE level too high for a main dining room and impacts ambience. Bare tables (albeit, beautiful tabletops) set with slate placemats and coasters create too many hard surfaces for this room. DECIBEL LEVEL HIGH; CONVESATION DIFFICULT. Fine dining sacrificed at the altar of trendy interior decoration."

  • "For history buffs and lovers of stately elegance, dining in this old mansion turned restaurant and bar is a treat in itself, but the menu completes the experience. The chef uses fresh and locally grown ingredients and presents dishes that are familiar in name but with a flavor twist one may not be expecting. Each dish is served on unique dinnerware, accenting the overall experience of surprise and tastiness if the recipe. The staff is attentive and friendly, very happy to share the history of the restaurant and the reasons behind the nuances of the meal by explaining the ingredients. The view from the veranda and the patio is beautiful, the furnishings are elegant making this a wonderful place to gather for special occasions."

  • "Food was outstanding and the presentation was delightful! I had scallops and the chocolate dessert. The service is off the charts! You couldn't ask for a better dining experience. We sat in a private room and the waitstaff tended to our every need. When someone couldn't read the menu well, they brought a tray of reading glasses and reading sunglasses out. Not a beat missed."

  • "We were treated like royalty. The waiter was attentive, funny. makes you feel like you belong there., the food was interesting, outside my experience but all delicious. The Mansion NEVER disappoints. My husband birthday was a special night that we both really enjoyed."

  • "Wonderful corner sofa seating, great menu explained by Brian H., drinks served with extra splash in each, table servers very polite, personable and professional, entrée presented well and tasted even better. Deserts…save room, a must have!! Great evening capped off with a night cap in the bar with piano and close seating…walked to the hotel and spent a wonderful night in a comfy , quiet room with a late checkout. Breakfast was great, tasty and filling, be sure to get a smoothie and some orange juice!!"

  • "Food and drinks were very good and the bar service was excellent. The duck entree was a little sweet for my taste. Main issue was that the waitress could have been friendlier and more helpful. But overall experience was good."

  • "We decided to go to the mansion for our anniversary dinner. Great food as always. Very interesting set menu that allowed my wife to go down a veggie path while I opted for the Fish. Sommelier helped find a nice white burgandy that went nicely with both themes. Service was good but slightly distracted. We will go back but with slightly lower expectations."

  • "Magnificent is the only word to describe the Mansion on Turtle Creek. What a birthday experience! We were treated by the staff as royalty. They will bend over backwards to make your experience wonderful. The menu is not your usual fair, with lots of game dishes and fish. We started with the shrimp cocktail for which our waiter said to mix it up in the plate so that we would taste all the flavors. He was right., my goodness what a taste! My wife had the steak au poivre which was tender and not over powered by the pepper sauce. I had the pheasant which was outstanding. The desserts are quite exotic and wonderful. The Mansion is definitely the spot for our birthday and anniversary celebrations. Kudos to the Mansion!"

  • "It was my first time eating at The Mansion Restaurant past Saturday. I would give them 5 stars for my overall experience. Highly recommended Food- I had smoked brisket benedict and my bf got breakfast omelette. The smoked brisket benedict was one of the most delicious benedict i've ever had. But the omelette was just so-so. Drink- I got bottomless mimosa and its fresh squeezed orange juice made it taste so fresh and flavorful. Oh, their coffee!!!! it had just right amount of acidity and bitterness, which made it so smooth and aromatic. Service- 5 star service throughout!! The waiter offered my bg a coffee to go to hang out at the patio after our brunch. He also filled my mimosa until we leave the patio."

  • "We had a pretty great time at dinner over Valentine's Day weekend while visiting The Mansion. I chose the spot for my birthday celebration because it was rated as the top high-end spot in Dallas and I would definitely go back - just not during a period where they are this busy (i.e. NYE, V-day or Restaurant Week). The food was amazing - I loved everything I had. The service was... Meh. They kept our champagne glasses full and food was quick, but we were only given the option of the pre fixe menu and when food was delivered the preparation wasn't explained - it seemed very rushed. If you appreciate amazing service, stay away during heavy volume dates. I'd like to try it again to get the real experience and not feel like another number."

  • "Food was over priced, and the portions were very small. I was disappointed. The billing did not live up to the hype."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We hadn't been to the Mansion in a while and decided to try it. Food was OK and service was fine but food was just ok. Seating was either in a too bright room or one where a flashlight was needed to see the chef's presentation. Sometimes you just can't go back."

  • "We visited The Mansion again for Valentines Day. The special limited menu had a good selection of items. We both felt that the food was very good but the portions were teeny, tiny. With only 3 courses for $125 per person (plus drinks), we would have expected enough that we did not come away hungry. The service was very good considering the date. We were seated immediately and our orders taken fairly promptly. Food was served quickly (the benefit of a pre-prepared menu) and beautifully presented. However, our water glasses were not refilled during the evening and it was hard to find a waiter when you needed one. We were never offered coffee. We often eat at The French Room. It is better than this was."

  • "The experience of the evening overall was worth the cost of the meal for Valentine's Day. The service was perfect and the atmosphere was great for the evening. For a true foodie, the caliber of the food on the set menu was not remarkable in any way. Bottom line, go here for the experience of the evening but not if you are looking to satisfy a foodie experience."

  • "I went on Valentine's evening. It was my first time at Mansion. This place was crowded as I had expected on a special evening. I was not amazed by the small portion of food. Also, I asked for a well done lamb steak but what I got was a medium one. We left the place with partial empty stomachs. Disappointed :("

  • "The Mansion is quite impressive. It lived up to it's reputation. Food and drinks were excellent! I enjoyed the Valentine's 3 course special, the Lobster Bisquit was a little over fried. Other than that, would definitely come back for the wine. It was also very sweet of them to give out a small box of their own chocolate as being a guest. Nice touch!"

  • "The Mansion definitely lived up to its reputation for me. I chose to stay at the hotel for a weekend prior to a business trip - just to try the restaurant. I had both dinner and brunch there and enjoyed both meals very much. The scallops were perfectly cooked and presented, but the pasta course - a lovely gnochi - was the real star for me. It was melt in your mouth quality in both texture and taste. The service was good - but not stuffy. I was surprised at how energetic the dining room was at 9:00 p.m. I expected subdued and quiet conversation, but did not mind the energy level. The wine list is so extensive and expert advice on selecting just the right wine is available."

  • "There are really no words to describe it, the Mansion is simply perfect. If you've dined at the Mansion then you already know; if you have yet to dine at the Mansion then you will know soon. This was the first dinner at the Mansion for my wife and I and we were blown away. Each dish in our five-course dinner was better than the previous, culminating in the best creme brûlée we've ever tasted (chocolate creme brûlée with shaved chocolate ice cream). We're both gluten-free and the menu items were adjusted to match our dietary needs, including a delicious gluten-free bread basket which is extremely rare. The staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating, we were in the best hands possible. The Mansion is our new favorite restaurant."

  • "My husband and I ordered off the tasting menu and we also did the wine pairing. None of the dishes really stood out and the wines that were paired were not that special. In the end, the quality of the meal did not equal the amount of money we spent. The restaurant is beautiful and romantic and the waitstaff attentive but no one described the food or wine with any enthusiasm. We left disappointed and felt we could have spent our money better elsewhere."

  • "We went for a celebratory dinner and were seated 40 minutes late for our reservation, The server made no attempt to engage us in the menu or the experience, and though we did the "carte blanche" extensive wine/food tasting menu, the dishes were not explained and the wine pairings were served at very different times from the meal. The food was as expected for fine dining, however the service completely ruined what should have been an incredible dining experience. The degree of enthusiasm from our server was similar to a diner waitress spending all her energy just to stay awake and put food on the table. We have eaten at most of the Dallas dining institutions, and are shocked after this meal that the Mansion includes itself in this list."

  • "I enjoyed this meal more than any I have had in Dallas. Inventive food, attentive but not intrusive service."

  • "This is simply a world-class dining experience defying the Texan tradition of completely misunderstanding that salt and pepper ought NOT be the primary ingredients in a meal. When people say they want more flavor, "add salt to taste" is the common cheat tand it's terribly unhealthy, and ruins the intrinsic flavors of the food. Proper hints of herbs and spices are what make French cuisine, which is itself very challenging to do well. I usually go to a restaurant dressed down or odd to test the consistency of service. If you pull up in a Honda, wearing jeans, will they treat you like a rockstar? The answer here is yes. Tip the staff, the valets, etc. well, and they will remember you and gladly repeat the experience for you."

  • "We have gone to the Mansion for special occasions for many years for the food and the service and this visit was a disappointment on both counts. Ahi tuna app, though presented beautifully, was flavorless and all agreed they had had better versions of their entrees elsewhere. We had to ask for cocktail and wine lists and bread. Service came together in the end, but was not what you want in a fine dining experience overall."

  • "We were at the Mansion on a Friday night. One of us has significant walking issues; they seated us as far from the front as possible. In addition the area was so dark you needed a flashlight (waiters carry one) to read the menu. When dinner arrived, you couldn't tell what was on the plate (so little light no color and everything the same size). I guess they're afraid if people see the food, it won't go well. Finally, the room echo'd and enhanced the conversations around you. Very disappointing and far too expensive for the food or the experience."

  • "The Mansion is a great restaurant; the food is superb - among the best in Dallas and service top notch. But it misses the vibrancy it use to have - very very relaxed dress code - tennis shoes, polo shirts in one booth and suit and tie in another. The main dining room was busy but not full on a Saturday night. But the brilliant work of chef Bruno is outstanding. Just an amazing gift for putting together incredible dishes - and the service is still top notch. A place to dine at and the food is probably among the best in Dallas."
