Diner Reviews
  • "The Mansion is practically flawless - food, service, ambiance."

  • "I am a regular at The Mansion, but will have to rethink this. When I pay these prices I expect a sublime experience. The server provided that. The food mostly did. But why does this place except sloppy looking people in dirty jeans and flip flops. Bring back a minimal dress code."

  • "Having asked for a table in the Veranda with a view of the lawns and the creek, my friend and I joined Michael, a new face at The Mansion for an early afternoon brunch. His service level was just right, not too fawning, but attentive in case we needed anything. Our food was outstanding and so was the service. The terrace was populated with enough interesting people to keep us watching while we enjoyed our brunch. She opted for the fish and chips, with the potatoes soaked in duck fat for 24 hours, which she said was wonderful. I had the salmon, medium rare and it too was wonderful. The highlight of the meal for me was the cold curried crab salad on bib lettuce with a perfectly chilled flute of Moet."

  • "We really enjoyed our entire dining experience at The Mansion. We had a special guest in from out of town and wanted a special dining experience...we got it!"

  • "My wife and I can't say enough about food and service."

  • "We recently got to indulge in a special tasting menu when Bruno Davaillon teamed up with a special guest chef from France, Chris Hache. The courses consisted of an eclectic blend of seafood, beef and vegetables, all of which were extremely creative and brilliantly executed. The Sommelier also helped us select a delicious bottle of Pinot Noir from Gary's Vineyard, Santa Lucia. The hard working wait staff was professional and attentive, and Ryan, with his cool, calm demeanor, always manages to please. We love dining at the Mansion restaurant and then enjoying the rest of the evening either on the outdoor patio or in the Bar where there's always great drinks, live music and interesting people watching."

  • "I was disappointed in the food. The best part was the delicious rolls. Everything was overpriced. It is very hard to find the Mansion since it has an address on Turtle Creek but you can't get to it unless you turn on a side street. It was very confusing. Very overrated."

  • "There are so many great places to eat in Dallas and this restaurant is one of the very best. Everything was wonderful and the service was amazing. The valet, hostess, and wait staf were all so sincerely kind."

  • "Still living up to its reputation, the perfect spot any time if day and any day of the year. The Mansion has it all"

  • "My wife and I recently returned to the Mansion for a brunch celebration of my 50th birthday. We were, as in the past, very pleased with everything about our visit. We always enjoy the spicy and fresh Bloody Mary's to start a brunch while dining at the Mansion. It just gets better from there, the steak and eggs with the waygu beef is scrumptious. The eggs Benedict with the smoked beef is also a favorite. The staff is so friendly and experts at their jobs we can't wait to return! We really enjoy the patio room and hope to try the patio when the weather is nice."

  • "It is refreshing to dine in a restaurant that pulls it all together: elegant setting, attentive nonintrusive waitstaff, respect for the ingredients so that harmony on the plate is enhanced by well presented plating, and reasonable pricing for a fine dining experience. One bobble in service was immediately corrected and provided a few chuckles later in the evening. Would return for the sweetbreads alone (and a glass of Malbec)"

  • "What a thrill to rediscover this restaurant and to realize that it is still possible to dine like this. The dress code has been relaxed, but the food was better than ever - I haven't eaten this well except in Japan. The service was very friendly and pleasant, and there was no rush at all - one felt it would be all right to spend the entire evening at the table. On to top of this, there was no background music, and one could almost have a conversation across the table. The meal was very good value, the wine somewhat expensive, but there were cheaper options."

  • "My spouse and I visited the Mansion Restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I chose the restaurant because it is listed in "Dining by Candlelight:America's 200 Most Romantic Restaurants." We were seated on the veranda, an enclosed dining area with a view of an open patio and downtown Dallas. The menu is organized with four different tasting menus on one side and a la carte dining options on the other. We chose different tasting menus and were quite pleased. The wine list is extensive and (no surprise) weighted toward more expensive wines. We chose a $175 bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape which proved to be excellent. The service was very professional, but relaxed and friendly. Not a restaurant to visit if you want to eat in a hurry."

  • "The Mansion is probably my favorite lunch spot. We sat in the garden room area of the restaurant where we had a beautiful view of the outside in air conditioned comfort! Our food was beautifully presented and the taste was amazing. Wait staff was attentive but quiet. It was a perfect place for quiet conversation, wonderful food and a beautiful setting. The Lunch Tasting Menu makes it easy to try several items with a reasonable price. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a very special lunch! Enjoy!!"

  • "Service was beyond compare. Food was very good with interesting and unique flavor. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. My wife enjoyed hers but apparently something in the overall meal did not agree with her as she experienced an urgent restroom need near the end of the meal and had issues for the rest of the day and night."

  • "We loved the breakfast at la mansion! It was perfect! And they accommodated us with our 10 month old with no problem"

  • "We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Mansion Restaurant this past Saturday. Overall, I was not pleased with the service. I ordered soft shell crab as a teaser and asked the waiter about the meal preparation due to a medical condition. When presented with the plate, I was shocked that the crab was deep fried. The waiter described the plate in great detail, but failed to mention that fact. Due to my medical condition, I am unable to eat fried food. The waiter noticed I was not eating and kindly asked if something was wrong. When I explained to him, he picked up the plate, asked what I would like instead and brought out the new order. That was great; however, we were still charged for the crab legs despite the situation."

  • "Service was great. Disappointed with the entrees, but the desserts were great."

  • "The food were presented well but tasted bad (seasoning and texture). Not many people during the hours which should be busy, many empty tables. It seems most tables only order wines and appetizer. Compare to other elegant restaurants, we don't want to go back again. Service though, was good."

  • "Everything about the Mansion makes this a special occasion. The food is superb: the 62 degree egg is spectacular The lamb and beef were excellent. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The same is true at breakfast, where the staff is quite remarkable. "

  • "The ambiance and service are unmatched in this elegant restaurant. However, the food was lacking. Tortilla soup had fat chicken meat."

  • "A group of us had brunch for a graduate recently, and everything was absolutely superb. They gave us a lovely round table in a corner, by a huge window with a view of their gardens. Brian gave us wonderful service. He was charming, fun and efficient. He was also knowledgeable about the menu and knew how to accommodate the vegetarians at the table, with just a little change here and there. The food was just GREAT. Everybody loved what they ordered. And then we went to the dessert buffet.....where the pastry chef shows off his incredible talents. We loved every minute of our trip to the Mansion. We'll be back soon!"

  • "I was not thrilled w the food at all. My sister and I both had tasting menus and the food was a little too over the top for me. Too many strange ingredients and not enough delicious flavor. My sister did not really want the tasting menu but if one person has it everyone at the table has to. That was annoying and the timing was very slow. The waitress told us we could choose our own desserts but then forgot so we got what came w our menus which was fair but not what we would have chosen. The pace was slow and atmosphere was pretty but bland. Loved the bar and cocktails and snacks were great...won't go to the restaurant again. Too pricey for not divine food. "

  • "The beautiful historic mansion has excellent food, wonderful service, a gracious ambience and is one of the best restaurants in Dallas Texas. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Always a pleasure to dine at the mansion. Pricey but the food never disappoints. A little difficult to find every time sine the address is on turtle creek but the entrance is not. Grand experience once you get there."

  • "My older sister turned 60 and I wanted somewhere special to take her and others for the big 60. It was great and the service excellent. Lots of fun for everyone."

  • "We are new to Dallas and were excited to have brunch at the famed Mansion. The food, particularly the dessert buffet was fantastic! We sat outside and were surprised to hear lawn equipment. Then a baby was running around for 15+ minutes with squeeky shoes. None of the servers said or did anything. We caught one server eating a roll at the station. The station looked disorderly. Our main server was good, but went absent a couple of times. Overall, a beautiful setting and great food. Surprised management doesn't notice and take care of the little things that separate a good restaurant experience from a great (5 star) one."

  • "For a very expensive meal, very disappointing atmosphere, no table cloths, very casual. Sorry, for these prices i expect more. Food was very good but not spectacular. Very few wines under $100."

  • "I have dined for years at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. It is so classy, beautiful architecture and lovely views. The service is beyond. I love Barbara our server. The beautiful woman behind reception at the restaurant is so lovely. I ordered the cod which was simply amazing with beautiful tiny radishes and the ramp. Highly recommend it. They truly remember who you are and in such a subtle and lovely way. I just love it here for brunch, lunch, dinner or even their bar is amazing. Thank you for maintaining your true nature."

  • "After several years without dining at the Mansion, I took an associate and a client there for lunch. Like me, the client used to eat there often, but had not been in a number of years. Well, given the food, it will take a while before either of us will return. The signature tortilla chicken soup was somewhat bland, and short on chicken. The shrimp on the shrimp cocktail looked and tasted like they were bought pre-cooked and were mushy without much texture. Two salads (one with chicken, one with salmon) were indistinguishable from the fare offered elsewhere for 1/3rd the price."

  • "As always the staff an chef provided a great Mother's Day experience."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I took my wife here for Mother's Day. We were seated promptly and service was outstanding as was the food. The chocolate dessert was to die for but I had to do extra exercise."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The shrimp cocktail was the best I'd ever had. You could cut the steak with a fork and the salmon was so tender it seemed to melt in your mouth. Although the food was to die for, we weren't that happy with the cocktails (melon ball and strawberry cocktail drink)...not very tasty. Strawberry drink had no strawberry taste and WAY too much lime. Next time we'll drink wine. "

  • "Had not been in a while... The ambience is always great, but there was a really bad smell in the restaurant the moment we walked in for lunch-- I mean REALLY bad! Maybe combo musty/dirty/nasty! Told 2 diff young ladies there, they just shrugged! Seems like a place such as the mansion could at least afford to light a nice smelling candle to have the place smelling nice! Everything else was ok-- really expensive for what u get though!"
