The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle CreekTried and trueI have been going to The Mansion for over 30 years and despite Dean Fearing leaving and various chefs manning the helm it continues to be outstanding. You simply can't beat it for a special occasion or late night people watching. We recently had dinner there for our son's 13th birthday and our table was fabulous. The food was unbelievably fantastic and the wait staff and kitchen were very accommodating to our son's sophisticated pallet (sweetbreads, seared duck breast with foie gras and cheese plate for dessert).
Additionally, we recently spent a late night in the bar after a black tie event and the place was rocking. We all were starving after doing the rubber chicken thing at dinner and the bar munchies sated the group.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite ServiceExactly what you'd expect from The Mansion. The service was amazing, well-paced, and unobtrusive. The Tortilla Soup was like eating Chicken Enchiladas in liquid form. The Beef Tenderloin arrived Medium-Rare as requested. The Truffled Mac-and-Cheese was creamy, aromatic and comforting. The Green Asparagus Risotto was a little disappointing. The bites were alternately lemon or Parmesan, without any flavor of Asparagus. The restaurant got a little loud as the evening progressed as the Lounge Band is the bar competed with, then overtook the Musak playing in the restaurant. Ignore the reviews that are in Texas Monthly and D Magazine right now (May 2013) as they list dishes that are not on the menu. The menu on The Mansion's website is current.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMajesticI had never been to this restaurant. I am fairly well-traveled and took friends from Hong Kong and Boston. We were all suitably impressed. The food was spectacular and our server, Ray, was wonderful. My friends and I felt more like we'd made an incredible memory rather than just shared a meal. Thank you.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were entertaining clientsWe were entertaining clients from London. Everyone enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant. A definite repeat should I return to Dallas.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible flavors in the risotto!Green Asparagus Risotto with Lemon Froth & Pink Peppercorn was to die for!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMShare with someone special ...A very special experience. The food was very thoughtfully prepared. The quality of ingredients and care taken in preparation were consistently evident. The service team was very attentive across the board. The operation hummed.
I thought the menu had a lot of room for different tastes, but a strict meat and potatoes eater would probably find it fancy. There were no corn flakes or oatmeal to be found at brunch either. It would also probably be a mistake to go to this place in a rush, though I'm sure the service team would make even a brief encounter memorable.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOh, What a Night!!! Fantastic!!!great service, friendly staff, food presentation excellent4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat experienceCelebrated our anniversary here recently, and was presented with a great table, excellent service and terrific food - Worth the money, and will definitely add this place as a favorite!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGot the travelzoo certificate.Got the travelzoo certificate. Nice place, free valet. Nice formal waiters. Food was good. Notable was king crab soup, Wagyu strip, and aspen evening dessert. It is pricey but not too bad with travelzoo coupon. Would recommend to go there once in your life.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal, service. IncredibleGreat meal, service. Incredible dessert. All around great evening4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Rosewood Mansion restaurantThe Rosewood Mansion restaurant combines great food (French-style with a southwestern touch, and a nice presentation) with friendly southern hospitality. We especially enjoyed the wide selection of complimentary breads, and the dessert buffet (Saturday brunch) was awesome! The waiters were friendly and informal, but impeccably dressed and they didn't miss a beat. The setting is unique and full of character, and the hostess was more than happy to give us a brief tour afterwards and tell us about the history of the place. The pacing was fairly brisk for this type of restaurant, but still within acceptable limits.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place for lunchThe food was artfully presented and delicious. The patio would be a lovely place to have lunch if the weather is permitting. Our chocolate dessert was a almost too beautiful to eat.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA little sugar helps the medicineThe waffle was not sweet. I did not like that. Everything else was good.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had dinner at the Mansion,We had dinner at the Mansion, while staying as guests at the hotel. A very good experience.
We were in the main room, which is in the original building and is beautiful. Good lighting, interesting combination of old room and a couple of pieces of more modern art.
My appetizer, a crab soup which I think may be a regular part of the menu, was very good. Rack of lamb (rare) was moist and sweetbreads were tender accompaniment
Highlight was the lemon cheesecake surprise dessert. I won't spoil it, but the flavors were greaet and presentation spectacular.
Worth price, which is not outrageous.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our 31st Anniversary. We celebrated our 31st Anniversary. The waitstaff was excellent. Our food was fantastic. I would definitely return for lunch or dinner.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary BrunchBeautiful architecture and the best service I've ever had. The food was delicious as well and the bottomless mimosas are definitely worth $15.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Mansion Misses Chef FearingFood seems to be more on style and look than overall quality. We had to send one entree back. The chef that used to be here, Dean Fearing, was definitely better.2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for quiet specialGreat place for quiet special occasions food was outstanding1/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe experience was great,The experience was great, but the food was only okay.
Appetizers were okay - not outstanding.
Main course - ordered filet mignon and veal. Both were cooked properly (med-rare for us), but the taste just wasn't as good as expected. Sent veal back for another dish. The waiter gave me no trouble at all in doing so - very nice. Even let me to continue eating the dish (ate the sides but not the veal) while they prepared my lobster. Lobster flavor was not traditional lobster or lobster tail - the taste was alright, but I prefer it to be more traditional.
Creme brulee had a bottom layer of raspberry jelly, which I did not enjoy.
Did get a bacon amuse-bouche early on that we both liked a lot - wish the rest of the meal was on the same leve1/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
