Diner Reviews
  • "Fresh vegetables and local produce and meats. One of my new favorites "
    Dined on 4/15/2014
  • "The grilled redfish I ordered had very little flavor. The same lack of flavor with the grilled cauliflower and sautéed spinach. The potatoes had too much mayonnaise in them. The pizza crust dough was very chewy, not crisp at all. The few things our large party enjoyed were the cheese appetizers and the pork belly. All the hype about this place was not worth it!"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "THE SOUP WAS. MY PARTNER FELT THE SAME WAY WE WILL NOT RETURN THE BEST PART. ROAST DUCK WAS ALMOST RARE AND CLEARLY UNDERCOOKED. NONE OF THE THREE COURSES WERE MEMORABLE OR NOTABLE"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Great meal. Only thing bad was that I couldn't decide what I wanted to order. Everybody in my dinner party said their meal was awesome. The one thing I noticed about the menu were the prices. You could eat a really good dinner here for $15, or you can get a $35 fish or steak meal."

  • "We live in midtown and have eaten at the Manship a dozen or so times since it opened. We have not had a disappointing dish, and have added this spot to our regular Walkers, Babalu, Mayflower line up. We eat organic at home and are gluten free also. We have not found another place in the area with so many menu options for us. The locally sourced ingredients and abundant, diverse vegetable sides make Manship a unique experience in Mississippi. But don't mistake this for a vegan restaurant. The meats are off the charts in quality and preparation. The charcuterie selection is first rate also. Arguably the best bar in Jackson completes the scene. Do not miss this place, and you'll need several visits to fully experience the array of choices."

  • "They are eager to take your plate and we weren't quite finished with our appetizer when the salads came or the salads when the meal came."
    Dined on 4/7/2014
  • "I have had multiple opprotunities to dine at the Manship and all I can say is WOW!!!"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Best restaurant I've found in Jackson in a long time!"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The Manship isn't your usual restaurant experience, their menu, service, and quality of food make for a very memorable meal. I can't recommend them enough!"

  • "Unexpected find. Our first time eating here and we will be back. Enjoyable experience. Great bar scene."

  • "Disappointing, not memorable. Expected much more than mediocre."

  • "Fantastic restaurant that happens to have the best bar in Jackson - fantastic selection of bourbon. Very knowledgeable and attentive staff."

  • "We were celebrating a friend's birthday on a Tuesday for lunch. Most had the Simmons Catfish and found it excellent and with generous servings. The Delta Polenta was outstanding and so was the asparagus and other sides. The bread was very good. We told our server we were celebrating a birthday and they brought the birthday girl a wonderful chocolate mousse with spoons for everyone to taste. Several attending have problems with steps and were pleased that they could get from the parking lot to our table without any steps to climb."

  • "I love Manship. I've eaten fish every time I've gone with the tilefish special my favorite. Great cocktails. I'm a g and t fan. Manship has a special one (the BDGT--best damn g and t!) that, while pricy, is THE best one I've ever had so they're right to brag. Love the sides. Bread is to die for. Desserts are special. Also we love the smoked tuna dip appetizer. I think this restaurant's most unique feature and one I really appreciate is its use and promotion of local ingredients. They have a board in the dining room setting out the source of much of the food's leading ingredients. It's great to know and I want to support that. At Manship you can do that without sacrificing anything cos the food is all top notch. I'll be returning often."

  • "The staff at The Manship have been wonderful on every occasion that I have visited. A plus is the fact that most, if not all, of the items used to prepare the meals, are purchased locally. KUDOS!"

  • "This was my 5th time dining at Manship. Obviously, I love it. The food has always been fantastic. Normally we have really good service. This one visit, however, our service was a bit slow. Otherwise, it was another great night at Manship. I especially like the charcuterie selections. This is something that Jackson has been lacking."

  • "This was my first visit. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the potatoes au gratin were wonderful... a different taste, not just cheesy. The chocolate silk dessert was rich but light, thought I was having chocolate mousse. Outstanding."

  • "Great meal here, as always. The best new restaurant to hit Jackson in quite a while."

  • "Met friends here a couple of weeks ago. We have been back four times. Cannot recommend this place enough. Outstanding food. I have taken my mom, my husband, friends and anyone else that will go with me. Will be back again---soon I hope! Desserts to die for! Fun beer menu!"

  • "This is my 6th time eating at The Manship, 6th different meal, and 6th satisfying experience. The Manship does everything well. From the atmosphere, to the waitstaff, to the deliciously prepared food, you will enjoy every minute. They have quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in town. The menu has so much to choose from while not being large and overwhelming. Many of the dishes are great for those who are health conscious, as well. Great spot to dine for lunch as well as dinner. They also have private dining available"

  • "We had a delicious Friday lunch for four. I called in a reservation on Tuesday for noon on Friday. Our table was ready and a very good, attentive waiter was attending us. The Friday lunch special was shrimp and grits. THE BEST shrimp and grits that I have ever had. Better than anything that I have had in New Orleans. Excellent. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. A very good first experience. My 55-60ish group is trying new restaurants in the Jackson area. We've found a few good ones--some better at noon than dinner. I thought La Fenstra was the best, then I came to The Manship House. Hands down, The Manship House wins!"

  • "It really depends on what the expection would be for the diner. A couple of the dishes we had were bland - but the sides were fantastic! Our main complaint was the noise level. There were only 4 of us and we couldn't carry on a conversation without having to repeat ourselves and shout at times. It wasn't that the people around us were loud - the accoustics were just not good. Service was exceptional as well."

  • "Excellent lunch spot. Diverse menu. Amazing sides. Get the cauliflower. Yes, seriously. The service is wonderful."

  • "Ask for Nick, he's an awesome waiter! The French 75's are the best in town and the charcuterie plate options are delicious. The whole fish is also very good and is enough for two."

  • "My lunch group made up of retired Jackson Prep teachers had a wonderful time and a great meal. Kudos to our ex student Alex for this wonderful restaurant and also to Carter for the delicious desserts. We are very proud of these young men."

  • "I have eaten at The Manship several times since opening and treated a friend who also loved the place for her birthday. The food was very disappointing for both of us as well as the other two guests. Brussels sprouts not cooked. The pork belly was all fat. The other two guests were not impressed on their first visit and wondered why I had given the restaurant rave reviews."

  • "This is a wonderful addition to the Jackson dining scene. The short rib is good, but the pork chop is outstanding!"

  • "I love this restaurant! It's such a great new spot for Belhaven area. Lunch or dinner: it's very dependable and consistent. Pizza is delicious and pork belly appetizer is a must! Birthdays and anniversaries are made special with exclusive desserts and wonderful presentation! Definitely one of my favorites!"

  • "Wait staff okay. My chicken salad with a light dressing was delicious. However, my friend ordered the chicken enchilada & they started choking after one bite from the very hot spice. It was returned & ordered the roast beef poboy which was very good. Overall experience was good."

  • "Went to manship for first time on a Monday night; not crowded but lots of people for a Monday. Ordered the margarita pizza which to me was very greasy, not like a typical margarita pizza but more like a thin crust cheese. The pork chop was also ordered at my table. Good, simple. Wish that bread had been served. Tiramisu was for dessert - do not miss this!! The star of the night. Delicious and light and the best I've ever had."

  • "Our experience was marred by extremely slow service. Four of us sat dwon at 6:15pm and did not finish a our meal until after 9pm and did not have desert. An hour or more after we ordered our entre our server came back and said that they were now out of one of the items we ordered. The quality of food was very good and I like the variety and will likely try again. Just hope the service improves."

  • "This restaurant has something for everyone. Steaks and fish are both outstanding. Prices are reasonable. Service impeccable. Just know its on the louder side."

  • "Get a reservation then go early and enjoy a great bar. Very creative drink menu with large block ice.... Nice touch. The wait staff was very professional but still fun with helpful recomendations. Chef Specials were excellent with good portions at an appropriate price point. We will be going back soon. Now one of the best restraunts in Jackson."

  • "Very glad we chose this place for our "kids away meal". Food was very good. Bar drinks were very good as well. Service was above par. Reservations a must if you try this place on weekends. We got them the day before and weren't able to be seated till 915. But that's usually a good sign and it was."

  • "The restaurant is comfortable but elegant. The food is as good as I have had anywhere. For example, the whole fish skin was crispy/chewy while the meat inside was plump and juicy—perfect. The fire roasted cauliflower was amazing. The best part is that everything we had was equally good. If you eat there, you will say the same as I do: “I’LL BE BACK!”"

  • "Enjoyed taking friends to dinner who had not yet been to the restaurant! Other friends ate there on Saturday night for the Valentine's night out and they enjoyed the food too!"

  • "This was my first time to eat dinner at The Manship and it was wonderful!! Lunch has been really good each time I've been there, but dinner was great- the food, the atmosphere, and the service all exceeded my expectations."

  • "We were driving from Dallas to Alabama and used Yelp to find a restaurant in Jackson. This place is new and had great reviews. And we echoed the others. What a great place fun bar scen, busy place but prompt and efficient service. We will eat here again on the way home!"
