The Makk on 124First time here. We will be back. The food here was excellent. Perfectly prepared beef and the whipped potatoes were amazing. On the other side of the table the scallops and shrimp were also a hit. But that fork crossing the table to share the beef dish was evidence of how good that was.
Our server was friendly and helpful and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. Just the right amount of attention without interruption of our conversation.12/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Full PackageMy wife and I checked out the Makk on 124 based on word of mouth reputation. We weren't disappointed. From beginning to end, the service and food were wonderful. I especially appreciated the creativity that went into each of the dishes. Flavor, plating, amount were all spot on!
We will definitely be back, and Makk is just one of a number of fantastic small restaurants that are opening in Edmonton. So long big chain restaurants. Can't say I'll miss you!9/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTry It!Definitely exceeded my expectations. You could tell the food is thoughtfully prepared and well presented. I had the lobster salad to start, and this might be one of the best salads I have ever had. I had the mac and cheese which was rich, warm, and filling. My wife had the pad thai, and having just returned from a trip to Thialand, I'd say this was a very well done pad thai by North American standards. Flour-less chocolate for desert and it was exceptional. Great service. Overall great experience.8/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud, overpriced but great food.We had mothers day brunch at Makk, so not a fair sampling of the regular menu, but the food was excellent. I saw a few items on the lunch menu i would want to go back and try. They had tenderloin or prawn benedict and their chef knows how to make a hollandaise! It definitely would have been nice to have some potatoes or vegetables on the side, especially at the price.
I found the restaurant very loud, its a small place.
The teapots are almost impossible to pour without spilling water everywhere, but fortunately the water wasn't all that hot. My tea never steeped properly and even when i asked for really hot water it barely steamed, after brunch i had a cappuccino which was watery, clearly their espresso machine is not well calibrated.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Super delicious Mothers Day brunch! We had fritattas, pork tenderloin benedict and beef benedict. Coffee was good and the complimentary chocolate mousse was to die for! We were greeted at the door and made to feel welcome. Decor is warm and trendy. Music was a good mixture and upbeat. Service was attentive. We can't wait to come back for dinner5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Brunchgreat place for Sunday brunch. The menu has a variety for everyone choosing, plates are appealing served.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery ImpressiveThe main courses were vrey good and the atmosphere was great. We found the prices a bit high, but like the fact we can walk to a nice restaurant.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place if you can find parking. We were there for lunch. It was quiet because there was almost no one else there at first, although it filled up a bit. Food was good enough that I will definitely be back, and prices were reasonable. The only drawback to this restaurant that I could see is a serious lack of parking.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! The Alberta beef duo is to die for! Service slow but very professional.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
