A word from The Majestic Restaurant
The Majestic Restaurant carries on the Kansas City traditions of great food and great jazz. We serve brunch Saturday and Sunday, lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner seven nights a week. Featuring Kansas City's best dry-aged beef, chops, and seafood and located in the historic Fitzpatrick Saloon building at 10th and Broadway in downtown Kansas City, The Majestic Restaurant offers a true Kansas City dining experience like no other. Enjoy a great steak and fine wine in our main dining room alongside a grand bar dating back to 1910, or have dinner in our lower level jazz club, the site of an actual speakeasy during prohibition, all while listening to some of Kansas City's best jazz musicians seven nights a week. An extensive wine list, creative cocktails by nationally renowned bartender Shawn Moriarty, a list of over 100 whiskeys, and a sinful selection of delectable homemade desserts provide the perfect accompaniment to the meal and the music.

  • "I was disappointed in seating I was seated. In the Isle way of the on going server up and down Isle way I won't be back ."

  • "We completely loved our dining and jazz experience. My group (real foodies) loved the dinner. And the jazz was to die for. The night we dined Stan Kessler's Quartet was playing.... total yummmm for the auditory senses :-) Therese"

  • "I had eaten here before, usually for lunch. My wife and I went for our anniversary and we were absolutely thrilled with the whole experience. Our waiter was great, energetic and very knowledgable about the menu, music, and Kansas City in general. The food was superb, everything from the spinach dip to our lovely steak. I'm not sure if my wife enjoyed the food or music more, the trio playing was tremendous. Thank you for a wondeful evening, we will certainly tell others about our experience."

  • "I dined with my daughter as a special occasion. The service was great, very relaxed and allowed us to enjoy our time vs. the chains that bother you every 2 or 3 minutes. Food was outstanding with many fresh/local choices. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the downtown area and need a nice place before an evening of theatre."

  • "steak was chewie, dry and tough. given the prices this was not worth the money"

  • "We have lived in the Kansas City area for several years now and had all but given up on finding a great place for an intimate date night dinner location. The Majestic has the ambiance of a European brasserie without the formality. The food was excellent and the downstairs Jazz Room is not be missed. The lamb chops and roasted beets and carrots are not to be missed. The Manhattan is a powerful drink to start off the evening so give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your dinner and conversation."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "I wouldn't go back. Food is mediocre, so is the service. The steaks were average, and overpriced. Sides were undercooked. The mashed potatoes were dry, my wife asked for a bit of extra gravy and we were charged $3.50 for special "sauce" and explained mgt insists on this. Caesar salad was limp and under dressed. Table flowers were dead. Waiter voluntarily joined our table conversation adding his point of view on our subject. In short, this place is way past its prime. Kansas City offers many better options, just go somewhere else."

  • "Have had dinner at The Majestic several times, usually three or four times a year. I consider The Majestic as an upscale restaurant and it lives up to that category with great atmosphere, both on main floor and downstairs "with jazz"! Relaxing and unrushed... excellent food and attentive service. This visit was to the lower level to enjoy jazz with dinner... both excellent! We had a great evening and I would have absolutely rated this experience at 5 stars, had it not been for the surprise (and un-advised) price of one of the "special" entre items on our check at the end of our meal... causing me to knock a star off! I would recommend the Majestic to anyone who wants a memorable meal and evening."

  • "I have been to the Majestic over 50 times, and through different owners, and managers. I could not be more pleased with my last visit. The service was excellent, and the food was cooked exactly as requested. I can be a picky eater, and they accommodated me quite joyfully. I will definitely be back!"

  • "We wanted to take our out of town guests somewhere local for steak. Everyone said it was one of the best dinners the'd had."

  • "We chose The Majestic for our first anniversary. We had heard great things about it, but never had the chance until now. It was well worth the wait. The food was better than I ever imagined. Our waiter Ted was very helpful and knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and overall he was fantastic. My husband asked for a Barrel-aged Manhattan, and was smitten by it. The food is a bit pricey, but well worth the money if you have it. Will definitely be dining there again!"

  • "The service was awesome, along with amazing food. Drinks were just as good. We will be going back. We have also been telling others how great our experience was. If you like jazz music, the basement bar is geat for dining as well."

  • "We went for our 9th Anniversary and had never been there before. We were not given any option for music or upstairs. I kept waiting to hear music and only realized it was downstairs as I was going to the bathroom right before we left. The upstairs was very quiet. The food was pretty good except the gravy on the potatoes tasted like it came straight out of a can. My prime rib was really good. I would go back as long as I got to sit downstairs."

  • "My cab driver recommended. -and glad I went. Ambiance was nice- old building with character, great jazz trio, great steak and sides."

  • "We loved it - and we have never liked Jazz! IT was wonderful! The music was delightful and the food was fantastic."

  • "I was at this restruant on a Saturday evening. I ordered my steak medium rare. It came back more medium well. The steak was luke warm . It did have good flavor. We had to wait longer for our food as there was a play starting soon so the staff was hurrying trying to get those people out first. It was our first time going there and I was celebrating fathers day. I felt that we were over looked. Our waiter was awesome ( TIM) He tried to make it right by giving us a great slice of cheese cake. We did have a wonderful time however I would have like to have left really enjoying our steaks since it is a steak place."

  • "This was an excellent find! The musicians were excellent, as as the food and drinks. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys jazz and good food!"

  • "You walk in to the bar area with a few tables. Then when they seat you, you go through a door under a sign that says Restroom. We kind of chuckled. You are seated downstairs. Darker ambience but it is in the basement. Service was great. He greeted us immediately. Shortly after arriving a live jazz band started playing. Food was ok. Drinks were good. Overall a great experience. We usually do a higher end restaurant but it was still a unique place."

  • "The Majestic was recommended as a great place for a steak. What I found was not only great steak, but great service, great entertainment (Jazz Bar), great ambiance, great drinks (let the bartender recommend a drink for you!). Would definately recommend!!"

  • "good steaks, nice wine list, parking is a bit of a problem as it is limited"

  • "As ladies of a certain age, large meals are not a good idea. The Majestic does not seem to mind if we split meals. We ordered the fabulous aged ribeye off the special menu, ordered two extra sides and split the meal between us. This is the second time we have dined here in the 10 nights we are in Kansas City because of this ability to split the awesome steak and not be limited to the smallest cut on the menu. The staff is fabulous, our waiter took the liberty of giving us the soup instead of the salad...and he was right. The corn chowder was decadent. Thank you Majestic for your welcoming and knowledgable staff."

  • "My husband and I had a romantic dinner to celebrate or two year anniversary. The service was great, the food was amazing, the wine was delicious, the jazz was the perfect touch. We really enjoyed our experience at The Majestic! We are from Claremore, Oklahoma and we hope to return soon."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by someone in our hotel. One of the best tips we ever got from someone. I had the 23 day aged Ribeye Steak and it was amazing. My buddy had the same steak and he thought the same thing. Everything about the dinner was awesome, from the steak to the potatato and veggies to the local IPA's that were available. The service from our waiter impeccable. Everything about this restaurant was 5 STAR."

  • "Steaks were great. The creamed spinach is a must. Very friendly and helpful waitress. After dinner we went downstairs to the room that served as an historic prohibition era speakeasy and enjoyed a great jazz trio and after dinner drinks."

  • "Three buddies and I came to Kansas City for a golf weekend. Two us us had been to The Majestic previously so we thought the other two should have that experience. The staff at The Majestic didn't disappoint. Our server was fantastic and the cooks hit a 300+ drive down the middle of the fairway. Salads, steaks and dessert were all fantastic. This is a classic KC spot that you should definitely try to stop at if you're from out of town. If you live in KC you should be ashamed if you have never been to The Majestic. Go have one of the great old school steak house meals you'll find anywhere. "

  • "We went to The Majestic for our anniversary dinner, and LOVED it. The atmosphere was perfect, service was spectacular, and the food! Mmmm! It's pricey, but so worth it for a special occasion! The upstairs looks cool, but if you enjoy jazz, downstairs is the place to be! "

  • "I make sure to come to The Majestic every time I'm in town. The service and food are unparalleled. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable on their menu and beverage selection. Every time I'm here, I notice they treat each guest as a VIP. It is the perfect place to celebrate a special event or have a romantic evening with your special someone. I couldn't leave KC unless I've visited The Majestic. "

  • "My husband and I brought some friends who live out of the country - we were looking for a restaurant that was authentically Kansas City and had great steak. The whole meal was exceptional! I had the Majestic steak, my husband had the prime rib, my friend had the steak with the red pepper tapenade and her boyfriend had the porterhouse. None of us were disappointed and they were impressed by our choice of restaurant!"

  • "This place was AWESOME! the food was great, the atmosphere was amazingly energetic but yet still tastefully romantic. The service was top notch and the entire experience is something we'll never forget. We love trying new places and it couldn't have gotten any better for our 5 year wedding anniversary. Be willing to spend some money but trust me its well worth it! The jazz band was very entertaining and loud enough to enjoy but still able to converse amongst your table, amd we were sat directly in front of them. Everything was wonderful and we'll be back for sure. "
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "The food here is good, but I don't think it is worth the very high prices. The service was excellent and the jazz music was nice. The room with the band is very small so it is impossible to sit far enough away from the music to have a conversation, but if you sit upstairs you can't hear it at all."
    Dined on 5/22/2014
  • "It was a treat to be able to find some great live jazz on a Thursday night on our one night in Kansas City. If we lived there, we would be regulars!"
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • "The wait is worth the food. It's a historic gem that will continue to be around for years to come: "

  • "Request a table on the main level. Main level is a great rewind in time with lots of character. Our table was in the basement which lacked character without a band and smelled old. Steaks were great...side dishes were undercooked and lacked any flavor."
