  • "It was a birthday to remember. The food and service were totally amazing. The owner/chef came by to check on us and talk. At the end of the dinner they sent over a special desert for her birthday - what a surprise. Then the next day we seen the owner/chefs picture in the paper with a big story about how he is cooking at James Beard House the next week. It was a fantastic night and we will be going back - not just for special occasisions but for everyday dining. "

  • "My family and I went for Easter weekend dinner after being highly endorsed by several friends. To say the food was disappointing would be an under statement. All the proteins were under seasoned plopped on top of a double serving of bland mash potatoes. I didn't get our server's name she was the one bright spot. I won't be going back or recommending the MG."

  • "Nice neighborhood restaurant near Beale Street that has NEVER disappointed. The patio outside was packed because it was nice inside but we enjoyed a nice table with white tablecloth inside. We celebrated a birthday with brunch items, chocolate chip pancakes and French toast, both with real maple syrup!"

  • "My husband and I chose the Majestic Grille to take an out of town guest for dinner. Jeremy was our waiter and he did an excellent job, Our food was well-described before ordering and the service was as good as the food. We ordered one of the specials and it was perfectly prepared. All in all a great evening. As we were leaving the manager asked about our experience. How nice to be made to feel welcome and treated like our opinion mattered."

  • "The Majestic Grille is my restaurant of choice when attending any event at the Orpheum. But it's not just the proximity that makes it one of favorites. The food is great. I can't say enough about the choice of Filets. The little shot glass desserts are both creative and tasty. The staff is helpful and friendly. And definitely try the parmesan fries."

  • "The Majestic Grille offered up outstanding service from the moment we walked in the door. Our booth was ready upon arrival, the service was prompt, and the food was incredible. This place has solidified it's place as one of our favorite restaurants in Memphis."

  • "Went for Brunch on Saturday. Will definitely go back the next time we are in Memphis. From the first bite of the biscuits to the very last bite of our meals, the food was excellent. The Chicken Corn Chowder was the soup of the day. It had huge chunks of white meat chicken, sweet corn, potatoes - yummy. The cheese grits were delicious! The sausage and pepperoni flatbread was one of the best I've had. Also, you can never go wrong with Eggs Benedict. Convenient location if visiting for the day. Parking is directly across the street. One thing to keep in mind - if you choose to sit at an outdoor table, be aware of the direction the wind blows. There was a bit of an odor from the many horse & buggies riding up and down Main Street."

  • "I enjoyed the Majestic for my first time. It was my wife's birthday. Everything was great until my waitress did not bring my credit card back to me. I didn't find out until the next day one I made it back home in Mississippi. I stayed overnight in Memphis, so why didn't someone call me to inform me of this? I made reservations and you had my phone number. I had to drive back up to memphis on Sunday to retrieve my card. Something I could had done Friday night while I was still in town. Great restaurant, but in the end not great service to the end. My name is Joseph Harvell 901-603-0900"

  • "don't be in a hurry. The service was good but slow. There was a large party in the back and we had to wait for awhile (45 mins) on our food to be prepared, The waiter was very apologetic and we understood it wasn't his fault. The restaurant ambiance was good. I enjoyed seeing old Popeye cartoons on the large screen. There is also seating outside if weather permits."

  • "It was nice walking into the door and 20 people are waiting to be seated. My date had no idea i made a reservation online. Gave them my name and we were seated immediately. I've been to this place at six times and it has been consistent. Great place"

  • "There was really nothing exceptional about this restaurant other than its location and the service. The food was average and my meat was overcoooked. Definitely not worth the money or its reputation."

  • "Great vibe on pedestrian street...old theater...lively crowd...creative menu. We had just eaten the fried chicken at highly-recommended Gus's Fried Chicken, so we just had tasty soup and salad, but we were glad we went and will be back."

  • "Service was very slow though restaurant was less than 50% full. 30 minutes after ordering soup, salad, few appetizers, our drinks sat empty and still not one kitchen item served- not even the soup! The food was edible but nothing special. Grilled shrimp was rubbery, crabcakes and egg rolls were fried bar fare. Ravioli entree was 6 pieces plain ravioli with spoonful of spinach, tomato of top. Server said sauce was vodka cream, it was oil. Not worth $18. Even teen called it "mediocre". I know why this place had the availability it did on Friday night. Of 3 nights in Memphis this was the only dinner we weren't impressed by. Beautiful vintage space housed in a retired movie theatre. Has great potential if attention and effort is brought up."

  • "We had no idea this restaurant was so close to the orpheum. We loved the fact that our playbill was handed to us when we walked in the door. Good was quick And delicious --mashed potatoes and carrots were To die for. Will go again!!!!"

  • "We go to the Majestic about once a month. Last week, we went before the Orpheum show. We made a reservation but got delayed. Even though they were very busy, they took care of us. As always the food (Salmon, Tomato Flatbread, salads and bread) were excellent. Our server was very attentive and knew her wines as well as the beers on tap. The Majestic continues to be one of our favorites and a jewel in Downtown Memphis."

  • "We have dined at the Majestic numerous times for the Sunday brunch. It is superb. For the first time we tried the smoked salmon flat bread which was different and delicious. My friend and I shared this. She had the salad and I had the excellent tomato basil soup. Of course, we started out with a Bloody Mary which is exactly spicy enough. The service has always been impeccable, attentive but not intrusive. Very polite and accommodating servers."

  • "Food was fair...Atmosphere was good...Service was excellent... Maryland Crab Cakes - Didn't know what to expect but this doesn't compare to the crab cakes in Baltimore. Nice attempt but way off the mark of excellence. Filet Gorgonzola taste and texture was disappointing. Compared to other high and low end restaurants offering the same or similar cut of beef, this selection would not be a good choice. Grilled Salmon - Fair...Salmon of this quality can be found anywhere in the city."

  • "We always go to the Majestic before heading over to the Orpheum. The other night we meet our daughter, who lives in Harbortown before going on to the Orpheum. I called last minute to add an extra guest to our table, The Majestic staff were very nice and had no problem adding the extra guest on a very busy night. Always a great meal and just a fun place to eat!!! 5 stars all the way!!!!"

  • "We enjoyed a great meal prior to a show at the Orpheum. While we didn't take advantage of their pre theatre price fixed menu (which is a GREAT deal), we had great Caeser salads, mahi mahi and salmon. Also they have revised their special drink menu and it is great. Very busy but service was excellent."

  • "Great restaurant before the theater! But make your reservations early!"

  • "They rushed the meal . Would not let make any changes to the special. Steak had so much marinade that it tasted like it was from Ryan's Steak House. Too loud & seating was cramped."

  • "We had the nights Theater Dinner and the food that night was excellent. My husband had the trout and he pronounced it excellent. I had the steak and it was verygood too."

  • "We had made reservations prior to attending a play. They had a special menu prepared. It had three options and was served quickly. Large portions and economic for what we received (3) courses . I recommend this for food but very loud. Older building and highly energetic!"

  • "Only the 2nd time I have eaten here and I will say it was better the second time. Although the bread they serve the first time was out of this world so warm and moist something we couldn't get enough of and this time it was as hard as rock and very stale. The one thing I dislike in a restaurant is not being consistent. When this is one of your signature items you serve everyday it should be spot on. The portions here are pretty good and I would probably go again but it wouldn't be my first choice. When Memphis has so many great restaurants you have to stay on top of things."

  • "Loved everything about this place. The online reservation was a life saver. The staff was very friendly. The decor was amazing. The food was out of this world. Totally, will be back! Loved the movie screen showing the oldies. We felt transformed into another era."

  • "The seating was perfect for the six of us. Our server was super patient and very knowledgeable. We even had a special food request and it was met without a problem. Great drinks too. We will be back!"

  • "The Majestic Grille is an enjoyable experience for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I have been at least five times and it did not disappoint. The shrimp and grits are excellent, the crab cake benedict is wonderful, the filet mignon benedict is great, and the bloody mary and mimosas are the best. I have not been there for anything but brunch so I cannot speak for the dinners. However, the silent movies playing on the wall, the jazz music, and the ambience of the restaurant make it a great place to check out at least once."

  • "I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried it. My friend and I took my brother there for dinner to celebrate his birthday. It was our first time there and I was glad we dinned there. The service was good and the food was delicious. Most of all it was not pricey."

  • "Great steaks and atmosphere! Our teenage girls thought it was a very special night out. Loved the black and white movies playing in the background. Our meal was perfect except for dessert. All they offered was tiny little cups of chocolate mousse, tiramisu, or strawberry shortcake. A very expensive meal should be finished off with a decadent dessert...triple layer chocolate cake, creme brûlée, new york cheesecake, bread pudding, etc. Sad ending to an otherwise lovely evening."

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times. Every visit has been wonderful. Service and food is top notch. Waiters are very knowledgable of there menu. I think everyone should come here at least once to enjoy the experiences that I have."

  • "Nice to see a couple vegetarian options (veggie platter in particular) showing up on the menu for those of us with vegetarians in the family. We were able to split a flatbread pizza and again, the veggie platter entree was fantastic!"

  • "Four of us dined on Bone-in Rib-eye, Tuna, Grouper Special and Mahi. The steak was fantastic and the tuna was perfect! Sadly, the Grouper and Mahi were overcooked. The diner with Mahi was very disappointed. This seems to be an on going issue with fish at Majestic. We dine here several times a month and hate to avoid the fish but even after telling the server to ask the kitchen to please not overcook the fish...it is served overcooked."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "This is the third time the fish was overcooked and mashed potatoes were cold! Not sure why this is happening."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "A friend and I were looking for a light dinner before a 6p ball game. We also wanted the famous potato chips with warm blue cheese. The chips were not on the menu, but our waitress said she would check with the kitchen . They made us a serving and it was "deelish". The appetizers were very nice. My martini was a bit small., though."

  • "Took my wife and 8 month old son out to dinner at The Majestic Grille. I was expecting to be out of place since it's a nice restaurant and I'm just some Arkansas boy. People dressed casual, somewhat nice, but not suits or anything fancy like that. It wasn't noisy at all and they even had a big movie screen on the wall. That was pretty neat. Looks cool and old timey on the inside. I liked that. The waiter was good, very nice, and our food came out pretty quick. And might I add it was pretty darn good. And a big plus, it's not nearly as expensive as I thought it'd be. Will definitely be going back some other time soon."
