Diner Reviews
  • "There were 7 of us for brunch at 1:30pm on a Sunday and although the food was OK, the problem was that the buffet was rarely replenished and many times we had to wait to get anything we were looking for. I was disappointed. I definitely would not do brunch again there, especially later in the afternoon. Maybe if we had been there at 12:00pm it would have been better - simply not sure."

  • "I had a groupon and never been to this place. I was joined by 3 other family members which it was all their first time there too. It was a very quiet place. We went there on a Thursday evening after work. Their were only maybe 2 other tables besides us. I guess its busier on the wkends. Out server was a young girl and very nice."

  • "my husband and I drove from Flowery Branch for the Sunday brunch and we were not disappointed. The blackeye pea "relish" on the moist fried chicken was so good. I enjoyed the eggs benedict and the nut crusted pork, while my husband enjoyed his ham and cheese omelet and waffle. They had a nice blend of breakfast and lunch options and even a choice of 3 desserts. It was a very nice Sunday afternoon. The only suggestion that I would have for them is being a fruit lover, I wish that the fruit option had been a bit larger. Don't tell but I stole 2 beautiful blackberries and a strawberry off of the pastry display."

  • "Took my mother there for a Birthday Brunch and really enjoyed the experience, had a reservation for noon, table was ready and dining room was full but not packed. Our Server Kelli was fantastic she explained all the choices available and was attentive but never over bearing. The food at the buffet was fresh and replenished regularly."

  • "Such a let down for such a cute and quaint restaurant. I received the deal from Living Social and tried to give this place a shot. The service was the most slow and inattentive service I have ever received while dining in a restaurant. It literally took an hour to get our food, and 45 min to get our dessert. And we were only one of 4 tables in the entire restaurant. The food was all pre-frozen and poor quality. Will not be returning."

  • "Atmosphere great, food not so great. I ordered the pasta shrimp and scallop dish. The pasta was under cooked and scallops were small and chewy. My husband ordered chicken mango dish that was salty and dry."

  • "We bought the groupon. Service, ambience, cleanliness were all excellent. The food on the other hand was just ok. It was missing that yum factor."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant for the first time last week and were extremely pleased with everything about the establishment. The layout, décor, ambiance, service and food were exceptional. When you combine these attributes with the fantastic value of the dinner we couldn't be happier and both feel that this will be on our regular list of dinner establishments in the future. This place is a real gem and to find it in our own Woodstock backyard is outstanding."

  • "Everything was done really well. Both of our dishes were excellent. I had the duck and my date had the filet mignon. It was our first date and the setting was perfect. The waitress and service were great as she was attentive but not too much or too little. The guitar was a nice touch and the right volume."

  • "Food was prepared and presented very well with subtle spices and a wholesome flare. We cleaned our plates. Surprise of Apple cobbler at the end with cream, strawberries and vanilla ice to go along with. Lot of wine choices and we took advantage of the wine bottle special offered. Will recommend to friends and anyone else looking for a quiet relaxing dinner. Service was excellent and well timed. I had the fillet cooked medium rare perfectly. Great flavor and tender as should be. One of the few places I have found that serves it right. My girlfriend had the mahi special, and loved it. She has a very sensitive stomach and this was perfect for her. Not over spiced, just right. Will be back."

  • "We privately referred to our evening as "Home Cooking, Dressed Up." The menu was typical for what we enjoy at home, with extra special flavorings and side dishes. Everything was very nice: Excellent service, food and ambience. We will definitely make Magnolia Thomas one of our favorite restaurants."

  • " The evening was a special occasion and the staff went out of their way to provide an incredible experience including a complementary bottle of champagne. One of the very few restaurants that creates an ambiance where you can have a normal conversation without having to yell. Waitress was most accommodating."

  • "Very nice Sunday brunch. Food was excellent. The service was cordial but short of competent. Serving during brunch is not to hard, keep the coffee full, clear the dirty plates. Oh yeah I forgot a point about service, bring the correct receipt back when you run my card. Oh yeah I forgot, don't disappear. So forgive the sarcasm, back to the review. Food was excellent, eggs Benedict was made to order and absolutely perfect. The Buffett selection was good especially that buttermilk friend chicken with black eye pea salsa, wow! I would go back again, just don't have high expectations for the service. Again the servers were nice, just not the best."

  • "I never found any reviews that mentioned this, but the brunch is a small buffet that's like something one would find at a cheap hotel. Bland scrambled eggs, bacon like shoe leather, small pastries, and some off-putting fish. I would expect a restaurant that requires reservations to have menus, but what do I know? We stood in line for ten minutes, finished eating in five, and had no interest in seconds. So much for the surprise birthday brunch for my girlfriend. We tried to salvage it by getting one of the desserts (included in price). The chocolate mousse was not advertised as just chocolate Cool Whip in a glass, but that's what it was. After a mild allergic reaction, we sat around for twenty minutes waiting for our check. Lesson learned."

  • "We had a great evening with the four of us, food was good and service was very good. Guitar player was good but could have turned it down so we could carry on a conversation"

  • "This is a great place to enjoy fantastic food with your love. The atmosphere is conducive to quiet conversations while savoring tasty food. Our server was perky, smiling and attended to our needs without being always hovering. The live guitar music was a plus without being loud."

  • "Chose Magnolia Thomas for our anniversary dinner after checking out many area menus. Food was very good and cooked perfectly, though we were not wowed. Probably would not return for dinner, just due to the pricing. May return to try brunch."

  • "We ordered 2 different chicken dishes, one with artichokes and dried tomatoes over whipped potatoes and one with jalapeno mango salsa on top with rice. They were both divine. The restaurant was not busy so it was very quiet. I like being able to make reservations online. We were happy with everything although the prices were a bit high. But, that is ok since we loved the food."

  • "While the food was very good the restaurant was practically empty. We went on a sunday evening around 7:30. This is first time in quiet awhile so not sure if this is usual or not."

  • "We had heard rave reviews and were slightly disappointed. The wait staff never told us we could order items from the kitchen we over heard another patron. They advertise Belgian Waffles...never saw any. The buffet is set up in a manor that the chef has to walk in front of everything to check on food items and replace items. Overall it was just OK......don't think we will make the trip back."

  • "Cute restaurant, pretty grounds. Hostess was friendly, did not wait long for table. Not too many items to choose from on the buffet. Food was not hot, just warm. When we went up to serve ourselves, 2 trays were empty no idea what was in them. One tray in the back looked like some kind of meat dish, no idea, almost empty. A server was there briefly, I asked him what was in one of the trays, it was cheese grits, he never announced I'm going to replenish these 2 empty trays, left us guessing. Another tray had what appeared to be either fried chicken or fried fish, took a gamble, turned out to be fried chicken, it was good. The server had disappeared again, so could not ask. Our table server Danielle, was friendly and courteous."

  • "We were impressed by the sunday brunch. The food was fantastic and the price was reasonable. We definitely plan to go back. The look of the restaurant would also make it a great date night dinner spot, quiet and romantic!"

  • " The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. The prices were rather high. I expected the place to be busier, but very few tables were filled. Our dinner was at 6 pm. The only real negative feedback was that we ordered shirmp and grits (which was an appetizer) and there was maybe a teaspoon of grits. The appetizer was delicious, but we felt the portion of grits was pretty commical. The other appetizers were well portioned. Other than that, my table ordered a variety of items including, fried green tomatoes, duck, medalions, watermelon and goat cheese among others. Everything was scrumptious. Wait staff pleasant. Also, we used a groupon. No issue with that."

  • "We went for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Had the coffee rubbed bistro filet. It had a wonderful taste and was extremely tender. I would recommend it highly. Great evening, Great Service and Great Food. Hard to beat."

  • "We've dined here twice: first time - amazing! Food & presentation were spot on! Second time - TOTAL MISS! Scallops were small & rubbery, Talapia was very fishy, presentation on 3:4 dishes was amateur; white wine was almost room temp. Both times, although the kitchen was a bit slow, the service, ambiance and music were wonderful. Our waitress was great! She was very knowledgable and attentive. I felt very bad for her after the second trip. Which, btw, was on a Friday. We left at 8:00 PM & maybe 25% of the tables were full. I think that says a lot! Sadly, we will not be going back anytime soon. We MIGHT give it another try at some point, but it's a lot of money to spend on inconsistent food! Try if you will - hope you go on a "good" night!"
