  • "I brought my boyfriend here for a romantic, quiet brunch and was not disappointed. The lovely buffet was filled with scrumptious food. Fresh salad, fruit and dressings. Eggs, ssg., bacon, biscuits and luscious gravy. Salmon, fish cakes to die for, steak marsala, buttermilk fried chicken. I've probably missed something here. Ordering along with that included in the price Eggs Benedict, waffle (which was lovely) and an omelet. Dessert, the Bread Pudding is something to write home about, and the chocolate mousse. Yum. I pushed for the table I wanted in an open area and got it, the service was really good. I think the wait staff is trying to be a little southern conservative, or something in that vain. I prefer a little more relaxed."

  • "The service was exceptional, the food fantastic. Kristen our server was happy, smiling and attentive without being overtly present."

  • "Plentiful buffet with additional items available from the kitchen upon request included in buffet price. Mimosa available upon request as part of buffet. Food was hot and selection was adequate."

  • "Food was great. Thought portions were small. We had a wonderful time. It was quiet and tables were not too close together. Great for conversation. Would definitely go back and take friends."

  • "This was our first time to the Magnolia. The specia that evening was Scallops. They were the size of a quarter with no taste. Such a shame."

  • "Well stocked brunch buffet with additional items available for order from the kitchen. Food was well prepared, hot and tasty without a long wait at the buffet. Items ordered from the kitchen were smaller portions providing the opportunity for you to try many different dishes. Dessert was included in the buffer price which was reasonable for a full buffet. Drinks, including soda, were not included in the buffet price."

  • "Magnolia Thomas has always been one of my favorite spots. Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, and usually, excellent service. Loved the prix fixe menu for Woodstock Restaurant Week."

  • "The food here is the thing you come for. It is supported by an attentive wate staff in a beautifully decorated home. The service was timed wonderfully with a happy and knowledgable server. All in all.this made for a great night out!"

  • "My wife got the Rack of Lamb ($30) after assurances from the server that is was a full rack with FOUR ribs. I got the Bistro Filet ($28). I specifically asked if it was actually a filet miognon and was assured that it was. Overall the food was good and flavorful BUT the "Rack" came out with the tiniest lamb chops I've ever seen. They were not much longer than the tines of the dinner fork! My "filet" was somewhat chewy and not at all like a filet. Overall we felt like we were in a special events facility that had placed a few tabkles/chairs around to be a pretend restaurant. Saw the Chef come out several times and talk at length with staff but NEVER spoke with any of the guests."

  • "Second time our group went here and must have been busy or understaffed. Same waitress both times and she was less than friendly and helpful. Took a long time to get entrees and second drinks. Shrimp and grits was not what I expected, peach cobbler was dry and had a less than peachy taste. Pork medallions thinly sliced and overdone. Took a long time for checks. Ambience was great and the only real standout for us was that we were with our dear friends, one of whom recently had an unpleasant diagnosis. Hopefully the Easter brunch will be better-we made reservations while we were there. If not, that will most likely be our last time there."

  • "The food is delicious, from the bread dipping oil to the steak, seafood, fried chicken, and more. Service tends to be a little slow, but worth it. Try the steak."

  • "good food and ambience, inattentive service by unfriendly server, good thing we could get our own food, bad thing we had to wait a long time for our check and then just to pay ....unfortunate"

  • "Good food in a noisy atmosphere. No bar was a disappointment as we were ready for a cocktail upon arrival. Because of this we would probably not return - prefer full bar service, not just beer and wine."

  • "We had been wanting to try this place since we've lived in the area for 4 years now. Really glad we did finally did! Parking was a little sparse as there was an event going on at The Magnolia Hall behind the restaurant that night. However, once we got inside the cute historic home, the experience just got better and better! We had Baked Brie, Spinach Salad, Bistro Steak, and Fried Chicken to eat. Everything was delicious and the service was superb! Would definitely go back and want to try their Sunday Brunch, too! After dinner, we sat outside by the fire and that was a really nice nightcap to talk about the wonderful dinner we just had at The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant! Definitely recommend it and don't wait 4 years too long like we did!"

  • "I was taken here for my birthday and was totally delighted with everything about my visit. The food was outstanding and the service was extraordinary! We were the first ones there and were taken to a quiet area to sit with lots of windows. I can't wait to come back again! When the waitress found out it was my birthday she brought a peach cobbler out with a candle in it; what a great surprise and a delicious cobbler!"

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant to visit. Two of us ordered the signature fried chicken dish, which was too breaded and tasteless. Another in our party ordered the steak and said it was excellent. For desert I had the creme brûlée, which was incredible! The ambience was excellent, with soft guitar music being played in the main room. The server was attentive and did not rush us at all. Great place to linger with friends over dinner."

  • "Kid friendly for brunch, bacon just the way we like it crunchy, enjoyed mimosas"

  • "The details to the food tastes and presentation were stellar. We enjoyed the looks of our deserts so much that we took pictures of them and posted them to our facebook pages to make our friends a little jealous. I highly recommend this place. The staff was excellent, food was remarkable, and they even had entertainment they night we were there that was enjoyable. My only comment would be that decor. I was expecting something a little more southern in charm and cozy. The rooms a wide open and lack a little something. Would just enjoy some more coziness and charm."

  • "Everything was perfect ... except the raspberry vinaigrette dressing tasted like a strawberry syrup, the server forgot to bring our water twice, and our main entrée came out about 15 minutes late. There also happened to be a very noisy table to our left, but that's not the restaurant's fault. We will definitely be back, but just had these little issues this time."

  • "Magnolia Thomas is one of those restaurants that look good on paper, but different when you actually experience. The ambience of the place is very nice and certainly quiet and romantic, but the food is disappointing. My rack of lamb was incredibly small and hardly had any meat on it at all and my risotto looked/tasted more like rice than risotto. My companion ordered double vegetables and instead got one vegetable and one carb...not what she ordered and the server tried to blame it on bad communication between her and the kitchen. This was all amazing since there was hardly anyone in the restaurant on the evening that we were there. So how could they have bad communication - they were not busy at all. Just an OK place...."

  • "This restaurant was a nice find in Woodstock. Elegant setting; nice, melodic, background guitar music, and good food. Staff very nice and service good. Wine list and after dinner drink list limited."

  • "I booked a 8:30pm reservation for dinner with my wife and 4 yr old daughter whom we were babysitting. I was worried about bringing our 4 yr old with us, however, she was well behaved and the staff made her feel special. Great ambience this night with classical guitar player in the house. The Magnolia Thomas restaurant is in an old home in downtown Woodstock so the setting is special. Our server Danielle, was one of the best we have had. Special five course dinner menu for Valentine's Day that was fabulous. Always great food, wine and atmosphere at the Magnolia Thomas."

  • "My wife and I have been waiting to try this place for quite sometime. After a few days of being held up in the house (thanks to the snow storm), this was just what we needed. The food was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was a little slow at the end of the meal, but that was to be expected considering they were short staffed (due to the snow storm). I highly recommend this place...and this is coming from someone that moved from Philly 4 years ago. If you're familiar with the Philly area, then you know how many great places there are."

  • "The staff were great at keeping our table and the others happy and satisfied with quick and pleasant service. The food out shined everything, as it should, perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Great place for date night!"

  • "The blackberry salmon and coffee crusted steak were delicious! Live guitar player on Saturday night made the evening very romantic. The service was impeccable! We will definitely be going back very soon."

  • "The brunch was not bad, but nothing special. I had to wait close to 30 minutes just to get an omelet which they do back in the kitchen. I would suggest they just put scrambled eggs out on the buffet line as the kitchen could not handle keeping the buffet stocked and all of the special orders for omelets, eggs benedict, and waffles. Just seemed a little disorganized for something they do every week."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful atmosphere and excellent service offered by the Magnolia Thomas restaurant. The warm fireplace and simple beauty of this 100 year old house in Woodstock was a great find for those special occasions that need more than the chains restaurants can provide. Loved it!"

  • "The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant is stashed away right in downtown Woodstock, Ga. My wife and I went to kickoff our honeymoon and they met every one of my requests and even brought me a bottle of champagne to celebrate! The staff was professional, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. The food was phenomenal; southern cuisine taken to a 5 star level. I had the duck, with an awesome cranberry sauce and the best grilled okra I've ever had. My wife had fried chicken and she still hasn't stopped talking about it. The prices are reasonable and the wine list was amazing. I plan on making many return visits."

  • "Our group of six wanted to go to Downtown Kitchen or Going Coastal but could not get a reservation. I found Magnolia Thomas on Open Table and decided to go for it. So glad we did! We all thoroughly enjoyed the service, food, and ambiance. We had the duck, rack of lamb, fried chicken, and seafood special, and we all thought it was absolutely delicious. Our only complaint about the service was the waiter did upsell our wine selection, which irritated my husband, but I thought it was fine. I liked his wine choice. We would definitely go back!"

  • "This review is for the Sunday Brunch. Don't bother. We have been to Magnolia Thomas for dinner on several occasions and have been very happy with dinner but trust me and skip the brunch. In addition to a buffet, you can order several things direct from the kitchen such as eggs benedict, waffles and omelets. The eggs benedict were dry and flavorless. The omelet was the best thing we had there. The buffet had fish cakes that were very good but the rest was disappointing. You can also order dessert; I recommend the cobbler. No one liked the bread pudding. Our waitress was not the friendly, knowledgeable staff that is usual for Magnolia Thomas. We asked for a new waitress. We will return to Magnolia Thomas but only for dinner."

  • "MTH for brunch is a real treat. Good selection. Food and service is good. Mimosas yummy. A little loud due to amount of people makes conversation difficult."

  • "A good restaurant in a great venue. The place is beautiful. The food is good but not great. Platings looked fantastic but the enchantment ended at the taste buds as most of the items were under-seasoned and meats seemed previously frozen from textures. A decent beer and wine selection to accompany the meal. Service was underwhelming (had to ask for pepper for salads, did not seem familiar with the menu, etc) but could be fixed with more training. Overall okay meal but perhaps a bit pricey for the quality."

  • "Excellent food with charming setting by fireplace. Romantic atmosphere, but also perfect for all. Service was excellent. Lovely wine list and knowledgeable server. Duck, lamb and salmon all excelled in taste. Dessert was perfect ending. Noise level was low, as one you would expect at an upscale restaurant, but comfortable and not so formal one could not relax even with small children. This was truly a totally excellent experience in every way! I have come here often, at different times, with different groups and NEVER been disappointed in any way!"

  • "It's a shame but Mag-Thom is truly a well kept secret. For those who have eaten there, I have never heard a bad review. For those who have not, they have no idea the place exists. Great Food with Southern Flare. Good Wine List. I always enjoy the experience."
