Recently hosted some clients at Mad Platter - lived in Nashville 30+ years and somehow had never been. The grouper was excellent, service wonderful, and truly they do serve up the BEST Reuben in Nashville. I think they must have had the windows open because although the food, service and overall experience was excellent, there were several flies that joined us for lunch! Could have done without those! But seriously - it was a great lunch.

I recently had dinner at the Mad Platter, bringing with me some co-workers and a new staff member. The staff member was new to Nashville, so I wanted to give her a taste of a great neighborhood restaurant. As usual, I was not disappointed. The food was just great, and the restaurant has a comfortable vibe without being so casual that it's not special.

Really disappointed. Food was just ok. Nothing really remarkable. Pretty boring ambiance. The waitress, while sweet, was clueless. What are the vegetables that come with a dish, I asked. Blank stare. Didn't think that would be such a tough question.

My man and I opted to book this restaurant for our anniversary after some research it appeared to be exactly what we were looking for. I cannot wait to come back again! The service was very personable and engaging. The chef came out to congratulate us on our anniversary as the waiter had informed him of the "special occasion". We celebrated our 1 year anniversary in the same manner in which we have spent the past 365 days... Full of "Sparkle"-Sparkling wine,"Risk"~Thai Mussels, "Savor"~Crab Cake, "Adventure"~Grilled Rack Of Lamb,"Zest"~Veggie Risotto and "Sweetness"~Crème Brûlée...Our new tradition for every anniversary forever more is "Dessert" will always come first! Thank you for making our anniversary so special!

Walking into Mad Platter, I felt like it was going to be a good experience. The place was nice, the staff was friendly, the menu and the wine list had good options. But then the food was late and undercooked (steak and risotto). Again, the staff was quick to respond and genuinely apologetic about it. The chef even came out from the kitchen to offer a free desert. As much as I want to like to this restaurant and recommend it, I just couldn't do so in good faith after my experience.

An unusually cool, less humid, late July evening in Nashville afforded the perfect opportunity to dine al fresco. I cannot say enough good things about their hospitality; our server Brittany was particularly pleasant and attentive. The manager stopped by twice to ask if all was satisfactory. I was particularly fond of their Heirloom Tomato Salad; most of the vegetables used in their food preparation are procured from the Nashville Farmer's Market daily, in season. I ordered the Duck as my entree and was pleased that it was not overcooked as duck tends to be in many places where it is found on the menu. I love the Germantown area of Nashville where street parking is ample and streets well-lit. Overall, a lovely evening, well-spent!

We took out-of-town friends here due to our memory of delightful experiences in years past. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. We ordered several appetizers, soup, salad and four different entrees. The Thai mussels were great but other appetizers did not exceed an average rating in my opinion. Two of the entrees were very good, the rack of lamb was just ok (I've had much better in Nashville) and my Shrimp & Grits were extremely disappointing. As a Southerner and a "foodie", they were so off the mark, they should really reconsider their execution of this recipe. Our waiter was nice but neglected to refill water glasses. This restaurant has become lost in the plethora of Farm to Table establishments in Nashville.

I found the Mad Platter on Urban Spoon and booked my reservation with Open Table! The restaurant is located in the historic Germantown area if Nashville and easy to find. The food was delicious starting with our appetizers! Menu options included daily choices from seasonal foods found at the local farmers market. Our only dislike was that the steak choices were over cooked. Service was no slow, but it would have taken too long to have asked for them entree to be prepared again.

My wife and I never deliberate when it comes to celebrating our wedding anniversary. It's always the Mad Platter. The ambience is unique and laid back for an eatery that offers such haute cuisine. The eclectic menu always blends ingredients that we never would have paired together into dishes that never fail to surprise and delight us gustatorily-speaking. We ate outside for the first time this past Wednesday and it was great. No breathtaking views but very European and virtually private as we were the only couple outside while the inside was jumping. The pork tenderloin was a bit dry but tasty and the cantaloupe rum soup was decadent! The five course option should be mandatory. Such a deal! As Arnold often says, "We'll be back".

Have been going to this place occasionally for years, and it always delivers. Food was interestingly conceived (if not edgy) and excellently executed, and service was very good as well. Even after 25 years (according to their menu this is their anniversary year) it's still not a "tired" concept and is a great place for a nice but relaxed evening out. Recommended!

I've heard about Mad Platter, and meant to go for a few years (it's one of the older establishments in Germantown). It was surprisingly empty for a friday eve (730). The menu was smaller than what was advertised online (and laminated, never a good sign). The beer and wine selection was OK, but not noteworthy. We decided to just get appetizers and go elsewhere for entrees. My portabello ravioli was just ok (a bit bland actually), and her crab cakes had shells in it. Felt like I had made a mistake in making a reservation here (our anniversary). Perhaps they had an off night...I have no complaints about our service, or the cleanliness of the restaurant, but am unlikely to return with such great restaurants nearby.

I have heard great things about this restaurant and overall it was pretty good. I was a little disappointed with the food. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was now wowed. I thought it was very good but there was not one thing that I ate that I would necessarily go back for. The ambiance is great and service was very good though. I gave it a 4 out of 5 but it is realistically a 3.5 out of 5 for me.

I travel to Nashville on occasion for work or a conference. And I am never disappointed by the restaurants in Germantown. Besides a great ambiance in the neighborhood, you have many great foodie-centric restaurants to choose from. Mad Platter is one of them- a fresh and locally inspired ingredient list brings fresh flavors to your plate with unique combinations of flavors or modern spins on classics. The grilled flatbread with grapes, chevre, and carmelized onions drizzled with basalmic reduction is still a taste I have lingering in my memory! I doubt this will go away soon! Loved it!

Craig Jervis was the first chef-owner in Nashville and he is at the top of his game. The Chocolate Elvis is the most decadent dessert. WE had a delicious crab cake and the mac and cheese - ricotta gnocchi with bacon and horseradish gouda sauce was succulent - oh, and it came with filet tips. The flatbread was less appealing to me - just not enthusiastic about roasted grapes. The duck was perfectly cooked and the porcini ravioli to die for. The Morrocan lamb was very tender, delicately spiced - perfect.

This was our 4th or 5th time dining here, but first time in several years. We love the Germantown location, and the atmosphere at MP is very quaint (we sat inside at a corner table). Our server, Daniel, was polite and very attentive. We ordered the mac & cheese appetizer and it was excellent. We split a spinach salad that was also very good (amazing dressing!). For our entrees, my wife ordered the vegetarian risotto, and it was outstanding - great flavor. I had the pork loin and was pleased; the pork was a little dry, however the sweet potatoes and snap peas made up for it. Overall, it was a very nice birthday dinner for my wife and we would return to Mad Platter.

The short version-arrived to a 3/4 empty restaurant on Friday night, were seated promptly, and then ignored for 25 minutes eventhough the table next to us received numerous visits from the wait staff. We were never acknowledged, decided it was time to leave. Host who sat us was very apologetic when we explained why we were leaving. That was sadly the highlight of the experience.

The dining room II s very appealing but so is their outside patio where we enjoyed the weather and peaceful setting. I loved the Oscar Benedict (perfectly poached eggs on English muffin accompanied bc two delectable crab cakes, asparagus, potatoes and fruit. My companions enjoyed their quiche Lorraine, spinach quiche and smoked salmon. We shared the bananas foster and a three layer chocolate cake. They put a nice spin on mitosis, bloody Mary's and screw drivers. A real gem.

I had a $50 Open Table reward certificate. I had been here once before. enjoyed it immensely and it lived up to expectations on my second experience, from Sam our wait person to the fine food. The Vegatable Risotto was the best I have ever eaten! It was piping hot and delicious! The Pork Loin dish was also very tasty, but not as warm as it needed to be. Sweet potatoes bordered on cold. Love the quiet ambiance and the neighborhood, as well.

The Mad Platter was a neat place for special occasions as the prices were a bit too high for the entrees. The shrimp and grits was fabulous while the lamb moutarde was very fatty and underdone. The melon salad was great as was the chocolate elvis. Our waiter was awesome. Thanks Tennessee Crossroads for featuring this restaurant. We may try it again for lunch for the lower prices.

First time we'd had brunch at the Mad Platter, but we'd definitely return. Nice balance of breakfast and lunch items on the menu. (I'm a breakfast person and hate it when a restaurant advertises a "brunch" and you get there and everything is sandwiches, salads and entrees they would offer any other time.) The French toast filled with strawberry cream cheese was yummy. The courtyard was a little bit on the scruffy side, but still pleasant and they'd done their best to dress it up.
