A word from The Mad Platter
The Mad Platter Restaurant, located minutes from downtown in Historic Germantown, offers daily changing menus and an award-winning wine list. An example of our dishes include: filet of beef tenderloin cracked black pepper crusted and topped with stilton and red wine gastrique, sautéed shrimp and grits, and the mad platter rack of lamb marinated, seared, and slow-roasted to order.
Owners Craig and Marcia Jervis met in 1984 while catering the Jackson Victory Tour, fell in love and have been cooking together, literally, ever since. In 1989, after five years of catering, they opened The Mad Platter Restaurant.
Voted Nashville's Best Special Occasion Dining and Most Romantic Dining, by Citysearch in 2006, Mad Platter also received 2007 Citysearch's award for Best Caterer and The Nashville Scene's award for Best Date Spot.

Diner Reviews
  • "Had a great dinner before a show and liked the menu, food was delicious, and sat outside on a beautiful evening. A great neighborhood restaurant with an eclectic feel that would be great for an out-of-towner to experience or a restaurant to put on your staples list if you are a local."

  • "This was one of the best meals we have ever had. I had the lamb and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. Sometimes I order lamb and it has no flavor, not this one. It was flavorful and fabulous. Others at our table had the Shrimp and Grits, New York Steak and the Pork Roast. I tasted the Shrimp and Grits and LOVED it. I tasted the sweet potato that came with the Pork and it was tremendous. We had the Chocolate desert and it was to die for. I strongly recommend this restaurant and, when we come back to Nashville, we will come back. Oh, this is the 25th Anniversary Year for this restaurant and deservedly so."

  • "My sisters and I had a great dinner at the Mad Platter this past weekend. It was our first dinner out in Nashville during our weekend trip and our waitress, Mary Rose, was phenomenal! She was very knowledgeable on the menu and her fun and professional attitude made our dining experience a great one! She also gave us great recommendations for places to eat and things to do while in town as well as introducing us to the LYFT service. Thanks, Mary Rose!"

  • "We went to the Mad Platter to celebrate an anniversary, and we had a great meal. I had the lamb moutarde, and it was the best lamb I've had. The red sauce was incredible. Our server was wonderful, and the ambience had a nice combination of neighborhood feel and fine dining. We'll definitely be back."

  • "The food and service were excellent. Better food than anywhere else we went in Nashville when we were there for a conference."

  • "We waited after we made our reservation for 10 minutes upon arriving. Once sat it took another 10 to be serviced. After ordering 2 of the new york strips which came out promptly 45 minutes after ordering we were notably discouraged at how the steak was presented and tasted. I only got through half the steak before calling it quits. Overall not a good experience"

  • "The service and the atmosphere were both outstanding, however the food was only mediocre. I really enjoyed the salad and the dessert but the appetizers and entrees were only adequate. When I go to a pricier restaurant I am hoping for an amazing combination of flavors that creates a unique dish, that was not the case here. The food was all cooked well and it tasted ok, I just was not blown away by the taste/flavors and menu selection."

  • "I'm a huge foodie, never heard of this place until I found it on open table. LOVED IT! It was fresh, excellent quality, and just right with the combo of flavors. Got the cheese try as an appetizer, melon salad, and the duck for an entrée. Duck is really hard to get and it be perfect, this was perfect. It has a mushroom homemade ravioli, so fresh the moment it hit my mouth, I commented oh this is fresh pasta. I will definitely go back to the Mad Platter! Bon appetite!"

  • "Mad Platter is, quite simply, one of my favorite restaurants in a town filled with great restaurants. Chef always has a new take - creative without overpowering the freshness of the food."

  • "I have wanted to eat at Mad Platter for a while since I frequent other restaurants in the neighborhood and it always seems to be busy. However, I was very disappointed when I selected it for my birthday outing with my sisters. It was not special at all and all the food was only so-so, nothing to write home about."

  • "We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation and had noted when making it that we needed to be out within 1 hour due to a concert. The resturant was being painted and smelled strongly of paint. Our host seated us and then came back to the table very abruptly and informed us that we should only order starters and salads if we wanted to make our time window. This could have been handled more tactfully. We informed our server we were in a hurry and placed our orders immediately. We made the concert with time to spare thanks to the server and the knowing what we wanted, no thanks to the host."

  • "We always have a great dining experience at the Mad Platter, consistently over the years. Food and service was excellent as always, menu great (I am getting farm-to-table fatigue from some of the other trendier places; Mad Platter's offerings are a nice balance). Love the atmosphere. Already thinking of taking some friends new to the area to Mad Platter this weekend!!"

  • "Mad platter maintains it's delicious food reputation. We all cleaned our plates. The ingredients and flavor combinations are palate pleasing. It was hard to hear with a full house. I would go back, maybe for lunch next time."

  • "We brought friends for brunch after church on Sunday and were not disappointed in any way with the hospitality, service, or especially the food. Our expeience was a wonderful respite from the rain and rapidly dropping termperatures outside. The reuben sandwich, French toast, and chicken salad plate were all thoroughly enjoyed by our party. -- think we all got the "clean plate" award!"

  • "The hostess/server wasn't very hospitable when we first arrived, but she warmed up as time went on and gave us very good service, refilling water glasses and coffee very readily. It took a little longer than we expected to get our food, but once it arrived at our table everyone in our party was very satisfied with the quantity and quality of the food. I had the chicken salad plate, and it was marvelous. My husband had the French toast and said it was very delicious. Our friends had the chicken Caesar salad and the shrimp and grits. All plates were clean at the end of the meal, which means everything was very good and enjoyed by all."

  • "Love this jewel in Germantown, cozy ambiance with great service. Our appetizers- the cheese array and black bean hummus were outstanding. My boyfriend was disappointed in his steak- just not a good piece of meat and my fish was overcooked but we still enjoyed the meal and evening. We will be back!"

  • "The meal was wonderful. We had a the duck with some type of ravioli as a side & it was the best pasta I've had since Italy. Wonderful."

  • "We celebrated Valentine's a couple of days late because of concert tickets and decided to give this a try. Everything about it was excellent. Special cocktails started us off. The bartender even came over and asked us what we thought. Our server, Mary Rose, anticipated what we needed before we did. We took all her recommendations and they were spot on. The soup, appetizer, salad and entree were excellent. Wish we'd had time for coffee and dessert. We'll definitely go back!"

  • "This was our 4th visit to the Mad Platter and it's still as solid as ever! Great food, friendly, prompt service, great atmosphere - not much more we could ask for. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Nashville."

  • "Service was a little slow to start because the server was being held up by special dietary requests at another table but two people did come by an check on us in the mean time. Food was very good and service was great once we got started."

Everything from the service to the dessert was outstanding! There is no doubt that I will be making another trip back very soon!"

  • "Our dining experiences at Mad Platter 2-3 times per year for over 20 years have been consistently excellent. This meal was well prepared, promptly served and flavorful.. We had appetizers of crab cake and mussels with green curry and leek flatbread. These were wonderful. The beef tips in linguini with vegetables and a light cream sauce was perfect. Cacao creme brulee for dessert was different and very enjoyable. Strongly recommend this restaurant"

  • "The service and food were both great at the Mad Platter. The duck was amazing. I would definitely go back for the duck and bananas foster."

  • "I contacted the restaurant ahead of time with my long list of food sensitivities. The staff and chef printed a menu specially for me with only the foods that would be safe for me to eat. Not only were they save, but they were very flavorful and delicious! It was wonderful to be able to have choices and to have a flavorful meal. I would definitely eat there again."

  • "We had a party of 6 for brunch on Sunday morning and we were the first people there so that may have been a factor. The food would have been much better had it been hot. It was just tepid and when it comes to omelets and Eggs Benedict, they really need to be served hot. Four out of six of us were dissatisfied with the food temperature, but other than that, I think it would have been pretty good. Service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere was quaint. Could have have just been a bad day or not enough staff in the kitchen."

  • "In every trip to Nashville, I stop into the Mad Platter. It's a reliably delicious experience. The staff is warm and casual and the food is exciting. I suggest getting there at least an hour before they close... It's a Friday and Saturday spot, so if you dine here on any other day, the staff makes no qualms about being ready to go home at closing time."

  • "Mad Platter has good food, but their brunch is lacking. The portions are small and the price is high. There aren't the choices found at other great brunch spots in Nashville. Good menu for work week lunch, just not recommended for brunch."

  • "We made quick reservations about 4 hours we before we arrived. Our table was ready within 3 minutes of our arriving. While they were out of a few menu items and wine items, the server did suggest alternatives that were really well placed. All food came promptly and was really impressive. This is my second wonderful MadPlatter experience."

  • "Prix fixe dinner on New Years Eve was excellent. Rack of lamb cooked as ordered (rare) with polenta and winter root vegetable medley. Partner had filet mignon with blue cheese and white and green asparagus. Delicious lobster cake with caper lemon sauce, duck confit gumbo, shrimp bisque, and apple fennel salad w. blue cheese and balsamic dressing. Elegant banana foster desert. Complimentary champagne was unexpected. I have loved this restaurant for years. This is a locally owned and operated venue."

  • "For years Mad Platter was my first choice for every birthday and other celebrations. The food and device are outstanding, and the wine selections are excellent. Though I do not live nearby, it's often in the top three of my favorite restaurants."

  • "Had dinner the other night and was looking forward to what I remembered. It was very disappointing. Food was not good, service was slow. I like the neighborhood atmosphere. Maybe it was a bad night but with all the good choices I probably won't be back."

  • "The food quality was excellent, the service was great, and they have an extensive wine list. I loved the large offering of small plates as most restaurants have too big of portions for me. It's not a loud or noisy restaurant so would be great for a date night as well."
