A word from The Macintosh
The Macintosh opened in September 2011 in downtown Charleston, SC. Located downstairs from its sister lounge, the Cocktail Club, and bearing the one-time name of the alley that runs alongside the building, the Macintosh explores the breadth of Lowcountry flavors in a comfortable setting. Executive Chef and partner Jeremiah Bacon showcases his talent for creating upscale, American cooking using the seasonal bounty provided by his local farmers and fishermen throughout The Macintosh's menu.

Diner Reviews
  • "The Macintosh has a daily menu. When we were there, there were two fish dishes, a beef dish, and pork shoulder. Two of us ordered their hamburger and it was delightful. The peach soup pleased the ones that tasted. Bone marrow bread pudding was an unusual side item that was tasty and enjoyed by the whole table. The french fries with truffles gets a special recognition as being awesome. The wine, beer, and cocktail list was extensive. Definitely a plus. Service was attentive and just right. The only drawback - noise level. I measured 85db. It was virtually impossible to hear across the table. In summary, a foodie's delight but not your meat and potatoes / fired seafood place. Bring noise cancellation headphones to enjoy Macintosh."

  • "We stopped in after a good review on their burgers. My boyfriend was impressed and I thoroughly enjoyed his side of truffle fries. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the wine list and asked our preference of tastes then picked and fulfilled our expectations to a T. I had the swordfish which was a little much for lunch, but there wasn't a lot of selection for us pescatarians (I eat fish but no other meat). Overall a good meal with great service. I loved the décor - rustic and welcoming."

  • "I love The Macintosh. This is my second time dining here and I am again struck by how knowledgable and exemplary the wait staff continues to be. Our waitress, Brooke, made excellent recommendations throughout the meal from wine to dessert. Ok, I admit that we didn't love the bacon ice cream (good flavor, but couldn't get over the bits of bacon in it), but she didn't end up charging us for it. The scallops, sweatbreads, and watermelon salad were all wonderful. The deckle and accompanying vegetables had incredible flavor and my grouper was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend planning a meal at the Macintosh. I want to sit on their patio out back next time we visit, and try their bar next door."

  • "Once again The Macintosh has raised the bar with their seared grouper! The summer salad and scallops were great, also! Our waiter"

  • "The four of us each ordered a different dish. All were excellent - the best in my opinion was the grouper. Oversimplifying as its been a few days and I can't remember all the details of the dish. Next time I'm in Charleston I'll be coming back for more to see what the Chef has come up with."

  • "Attractive restaurant, with nice buzz. Good - but not great - food."

  • "All fresh ingredients.. So many flavors in each bite. Server tonight had shy personality but was satisfactory. Our server last time was one of the best servers anywhere ever though. Wine list by the glass could be expanded. My dining companion was having beer so I didn't want to order a whole bottle and there were no wines by the glass I wanted. I got the sangria which was ok, but nothing special. Any food I've ever had here has been so scrumptious. Can't go wrong at McIntosh!!!"

  • "Loved our server, Lauren. Also love Megan. Food is superb. I had the summer salad with a tempura squash blossom. The salad had bits of fruit and vegetables (okra) so I felt that not only was it delicious but nutritionally fabulous! I always try to find the wreck fish on the menu and this was wonderful. Only drawback is the noise level. I have been there twice when the table of eight nearby gets extremely loud. Everyone around me was talking about it. But I still love MacIntosh. They really care about their patrons!"

  • "Appetizers & entrees were all top notch. Servers knowledge of food & wine exceeded our expectations! Thoroughly enjoyable experience."

  • "I keep thinking about this place! We were in town from Asheville, and we consider ourselves foodies. We also own a restaurant/bar and know how difficult it can be to get everything just right. Our experience at The Mac was spot on in every way. We started with a cocktail each, then shared a gundi with pickled shrimp small plate. The gundi was divine. Hubby had the pork shoulder confit, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and he knows his pork. I had the deckle which was also delicious, but the surprising highlight for me was the grilled squash with kimchee. Loved the goat cheesecake. I felt like we needed to be rolled out on stretchers, but worth every single calorie. We will tell our friends and come back for sure."

  • "Went for brunch. The Mac attack was really good and so was the chorizo entree. The cinnamon rolls with Fois gras icing... Meh. Definitely didn't do it for me personally. Service was good though and overall had a good meal, will go again for sure."

  • "Whenever we go to Charleston,Macintosh will always be included. We have had brunch both times and loved it. Great food and staff, cute place."

  • "Great food paired with local and seasonable produce. One of the only restaurants in Charleston with a true Cotes de Provence Rose on the Menu!"

  • "Overall a great dining experience. The food was phenomenal. Get the rabbit for an appetizer if it is available! They change the menu daily, which is pretty cool. I was visiting Charleston from Atlanta with my wife, and that dinner alone was worth the drive."

  • "Went for my wife's birthday. She loved the snapper the waiter recommended. A little pricey, but it was a special occasion. Would definitely return."

  • "Everything at the Macintosh was fantastic. The bread, the meals, the desserts, and the staff (Ross was our server) were all exactly what you would expect of a very well-respected restaurant. I will definitely be back!"

  • "The overall experience at the Macintosh was amazing. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The corn salad was especially noteworthy!"

  • "Went for Brunch. I had the burger which was perfect. The Fries were even better. My wife had an omelet which was good not great - mushrooms were a bit big for an omelet. Also, don't fall for the Funnel Cake on the menu - it's not as good as the state fair."

  • "First time at The McIntosh. Amazing brunch menu. Had the "Mack Attack", never would have tried this dish without the Server's recommendation. Excellent choice!!"

  • "Many great brunch choices in Charleston but this is one of the best. The Mac attack is as good as it gets. Tried several items and every one was great. Must try."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "We were seated promptly and the service was excellent. The chilled peach soup was delish as was the corn salad and everything else. My only complaint is that it gets loud due mostly to too many groups of women. They get cackle-ey and screechy after a few too many. Wedding season!"

  • " This was our first dining experience and everyone enjoyed their meals. The pork shoulder was excellent. We will return for dinner during our next visit to Charleston, SC."

  • "We had an amazing time at the Macintosh. The waitress was delightful and thoughtful with her recommendations (and even at the end of the evening provided us with another superb restaurant to try for our next night out). The food was delicious, and perhaps one of the best restaurants we've been to on our many visits to Charleston. A must is the bone marrow bread pudding, which was, maybe the best thing I've ever eaten anywhere."

  • "Really great waiter with lots of knowledge. Food was delicious but not a huge menu. Drinks were really unique and amazing."

  • "Our reservation was during one of the FIFA World Cup games and the staff accommodated where they sat us so our children could see the game on the tv in the bar area. Food was good and everyone was pleasant and attentive."

  • "This is not my first time to The McIntosh, nor will it be my last. The several times that I have been, I have not been disappointed in a single item that we ordered. We "oohed and aahed" over every dish. For years FIG was my favorite restaurant in town, but I do believe that McIntosh has surpassed them. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Love the brunch menu! Delicious twist on Southern fare! Funnel cakes & grits with a flare!"

  • "We had a great meal on our first visit. The pork shoulder was incredible. Drinks very good. Service was excellent. Definitely a go-back-to place."

  • "Absolutely wonderful! We went to the Macintosh at the end of a lovely weekend in Charleston, and were absolutely blown away. The food (Scallops starter, CAB Decker/Grouper entrees, and Goat Cheesecake dessert) was the best we had during our trip. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful, and the ambiance was great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great night out!"

  • "Very personal experience, lots of attention to US. It would be romantic, albeit it trendy decor, which is very nice, but when it fills up, it's rather noisy. We were there for a special occasion and staff did their best to make it that way. Food was over the top good. We live locally, we will be back!"

  • "In a town of foodies where you have to look hard to find a bad meal, there are plenty of impressive restaurants. MacIntosh is farm to table and everything is made fresh daily. Our server described the food so well that it was beyond words. From start to finish, every detail was superb!!! Flavors everywhere. Unique and new combinations were in every course. Not a bad price either for the quality and service. MUST TRY in Charleston. Some of the towns biggest restaurant names have probably already been warned that MacIntosh is a force to be reckoned with :-) Give it a try & you'll be back!"

  • "This was my second dining experience at The MacIntosh and was as wonderful as the first. As a real foodie, the chef is so creative with his menu and presentation that it earns 5 stars in my book. The interior of the restaurant is warm and lovely with a low noise level."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "The peach soup was a eclectic blend of ingredients--peaches, blueberries, heavy cream base, but with jalapenos and bacon. Sounded odd, but the combination worked. Food well prepared, portions small. Pricey. Very limited choices of wines by the glass. Limited choices of entrees, but the menu is redone daily. Excellent and attentive service. Very noisy--detracted from being a romantic place to dine."

  • "I ate at MacIntosh when it first opened and thought it was too noisy and my meal too salty. Decided to give it a second try and am so glad I did. The food and service were excellent."

  • "The Macintosh was recommended to us by a Charleston native and I've got to say it's the best restaurant recommendation we've EVER gotten. Our waiter was phenomenal and the food was even better. Definitely worth the trip (we were vacationing in Folly Beach and drove over)."

  • "Charleston is of course a town for foodies - and this is one of the standouts! Terrific food and excellent service made for a wonderful evening. Corn salad was super yummy - but everything really delicious."

  • "I love this place!! Everytime I come to town I ALWAYS stop in and have brunch on Sundays. Everything I have tried is amazing. The service is always top notch and the bottomless mimosas are always fantastic. I recommend you always start off with a Poutine or 2 and then off to the best brunch ever."

  • "Fantastic place liked it much better than Husk. It had a great menu selection and all dishes were unique. High quality all the way around. Atmosphere is great with high energy, open kitchen just a great vibe. Highly recommend for a date or a group. "
