The MacintoshGreat!Great food, fresh from the farm. Always a good meal and great service. Good selection of craft beer and wine. Good Bar scene too.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticA great dinner experience with better-than-average cocktails, solid beer and wine selection. Appetizers were great, meat plate large enough for four to share. Seafood entres were superb. Ate here on vacation but this would be a regular spot for us if we were local given the daily published menu.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding serviceScallop app is well executed. Deckle and pork shoulder entrees were both outstanding dishes. Peanut butter dessert tasted like to most fabulous Reece-cup ever imagined. The manager paired an excellent wine for the pork. The beer selection was noteworthy as well. Definitely will be back and will recommend.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBEST BRUNCH IN CHARLESTON!!!!!!IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! My roommate and I go there whenever out of town friends are visiting or when we we want a guaranteed five star dining experience. I have never had a bad meal here and the service is impeccable!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat wait staff and foodOur waiter was wonderful. Gave great recommendations and was easy and fun to talk with. Had 4 appertizers with a bottle of wine. 3 recommendations by the waiter for appetiziers and wine were out standing, one appetizer we chose was good but not great. Noise level made it a little difficult for us to hear each other, but will definately go back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NotchWe are foodies from San Diego. This was recommended by top Chef in Myrtle Beach. Tough to get a reservation on a Fri, 4 days in advance. Food, service, wine, all was top notch, but geared towards those who appreciate good food, local sourced, and realize the cost of that luxury. Smaller place than I would have imagined. Maybe only 25 tables.Great service on b usy night. Not cheap, but fair value.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSC Sauted GrouperWow, What a great piece of fish. Above all in was probably the best I have had in my decades in Charleston. Lightly breaded and sauted to perfection. Portion was just right Selected the Pinot Bianco ( per my waiters suggestion) and it was excellent with the Grouper.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMservice has improvedThis was our 2nd visit. The first was when the resaurant had just opened, and the servers were clearly inexperienced. On this visit, there was a noticable improvement, although the helpers cleared away our bread plates between the appetizers and entree! But the main server spotted it immediately and brought new plates and bread. The food was fabulous agan!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBargain for BrunchWe've had dinner there and totally loved it and just had brunch. Both were fantastic. Couldn't believe brunch was SO reasonable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Mac never disappoints!Celebrating Mothers' Day made this a special occasion for me, but everyone at our table felt special. The service was characteristically impeccable and the food was unbelievable! With attention to temperature (even the truffle fries stayed warm!), textures (veggies were not mushy, nor too crisp), flavor pairings (nothing overpowered), and originality (the shredded pork pouches were to die for!) , each plate was prepared perfectly. We will be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch Experience! We had a wonderful Sunday brunch experience. The cocktails are great and the options on the menu include both traditional and some very unique options!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMComfort food to a new gourmet levelWarm , industrial chic. Rich wood floors horizontally laid on the walls with medium-dark grey leather seating. Pipes and ducts exposed. Very loud. After reading the reviews, I had to try the "Mac Attack" (bone marrow bread pudding, pork belly, poached egg and sauce. OMG! With the bread pudding there was a perfect integration of creamy custard and bread. The pork belly was crusted on the outside and pull apart tender inside. I did scrape away some fat which would have put it totally over the top. Just a little sautéed spinach in there, a token offering to the health gods. The Bloodies were wonderful. We are now succumbing to a Mac Attack nap!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an outstanding dinnerWe had an outstanding dinner at The Macintosh. Our waiter Russgen patiently guided us through the creative menu choices. We selected Lonizo Salad and Cavatelli as apps and Barrelfish and Sheepshead as entrees. All outstanding !! A good Pinot Noir and the special dessert of the day(goat cheese cake) completed our meal. The Macintosh definitely lived up to its reviews !!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs Good as It GetsThe Macintosh does everything right. Had the deckle and the pork shoulder following three starter plates. Every dish was near perfection. Server recommended a wine we had never had, and it perfectly complimented the food. The Macintosh is a MUST GO!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING dinnerThis is one of the best meals my husband and I have had in Charleston. From the minute we entered the small, dark restaurant on a recent Saturday evening, the service was high class, our waiter was very helpful and the food was absolutely amazing. We each ordered a starter. My husband ordered the Ramp Cavatelli and the next day he was still talking about how amazing it was. I ordered the Lonzino Salad which had everything a girl can love: strawberries, cured pork loin, pistachios and Manchego cheese. Our dinners included the Crispy Duck Breast and the Pork Confit. We ordered a side of brussel sprouts and kale. Everything was seasoned perfectly and presented beautifully. We loved this restaurant experience and would recommend it to anyone5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNot so appetizingThe preparations were very complex but menu wasnt especially appetizing. Chef Bacon very good at atypical combinations but they werent necessarily appealing.VG deckle beef & duck but accompaniments just so so. Lonzino ham salad was good but skimpy on greens. Great service. Loud obnoxiously loud group behind us. Very good staff & bartenders.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!Seems like a lot of the up and coming Charleston restaurants are on upper King. Our meal here was delightful, with excellent service. Also had high hopes for before dinner drinks at the upstairs (Cocktail Club), but were a bit disappointed to find they batch all their signature drinks....not kosher for an upscale place imho.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food in a fun butFantastic food in a fun but quite loud room. Very good service, great soft shell crabs in season. Strong addition to CHS food scene.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is not our first timeThis is not our first time to The Macintosh nor will it be our last. Our meal was outstanding and the genuine, personal service made the experience even better. We truly are spoiled here in Charleston. Your staff really cares about service and delivering exceptional guest care.
This is a lively spot so be prepared for the bar to fill in as the night progresses.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern EleganceWe loved the Macintosh. the Deckle was every bit as good as other reviews have stated. The carrot salad was good and the scallops appetizer was excellet. My husband and I shared all 3 of these dishes and it was just enough food. We left satisfied but not overstuffed. The wait staff was super professional and very attentive. The ghost pepper cocktail was surprisingly refreshing with a nice little 'kick' in the finish.
I would recommend the Macintosh for a wonderful taste of the South.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBrick-walled sophistication.Brick-walled sophistication. The biscuit had bits of black pepper to make it more savory and was served with homemade orange marmalade - perfection. Fritatta was lovely. The decor consisted of re-purposed materials masterfully assembled, creating a cool vibe.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite find in charleston. Our favorite find in charleston. The food is excellent, service just as good, ambiance is great and the best part is that I'd consider it the best value we found in charleston. The Mac attack is the single best brunch item I've had ever, burger is exceptional, soft shell crab blt divine. This is a must try.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommended! We went to Macintosh to celebrate our one year anniversary and just loved it. The service was excellent and very professional. The food - heavenly! Everything on the menu looked incredible, but we had the lotima salad and gnudi to start and the deckle and pork shoulder for dinner, then the apple bread pudding to finish. We brought our own wine ($20 corkage fee) and loved everything about the evening. Highly recommended!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time to try The Macintosh.First time to try The Macintosh. A great experience.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food preparationExcellent food preparation and taste. Somewhat limited menu offset by excellence of selections. The Deckle, despite the odd name, was wonderful. The beets, prepared three ways, on the bibb salad were sonme of the best I've had. Space was moderatley loud but not overpowering. Everyone in our party was very pleased.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is outstanding! The food is outstanding! We started with the butcher board which consisted of house made meats and was delicious. One of the specials was tile fish with a fennel puree and it was a perfect. Partner had the glazed pork shoulder, also delicious. The dessert, a sticky bun bread pudding was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. This is a wonderful restaurant and I can't wait to eat here again.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite CharlestonOne of our favorite Charleston spots. We shared two Starters the Gnudi and the Sausage Plate both were outstanding and all of us agreed we could make a meal just from the appetizers. For the Entrees the Deckle and the Flounder were ordered and were OUTSTANDING! If you never had the Deckle then you owe yourself a trip to “The Mac” just to try it. This has become my favorite downtown Charleston restaurant. Thank You!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant, we are fromGreat restaurant, we are from NYC and it reminded us like we were in chelsea, great food and great service. The bread was awesome, baked fresh each day.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Mac is an Excellent experienceWhile the Sweetbreads appetizers could have had a crispier coating, the bed of Collard Greens with Bacon bits were out of this world amazing. I could have made a meal on these along. The Grilled Deckle was a perfect medium rare and had great flavor. The Bread Pudding tasted like a rich Grilled cheese sandwich. However only the center of the dish had the true flavor while the outer portion was just cooked bread
The wife loved the Hot and Sour Pork Belly Soup which was seasoned just right in a Rich broth. Her Tile fish served over a medley vegetables and Spaetzle was perfectly cooked and delicious.
The flowerless Peanut butter and Chocolate cake a rich perfect balance between sweet and savory was a great way to end the mea3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Macintosh is a wonderfulThe Macintosh is a wonderful restaurant - one of the best in Charleston. Make sure you get reservations; the place fills with diners every night.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous menu! It was ourFabulous menu! It was our favorite restaurant of our vacation to Charleston.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining For FoodiesI just loved the Macintosh (and my husband and teenage daughter did too)!! Very well thought out dishes - you could tell the chef was diligent in developing the menu - ingredients that build and complement each other, interesting local and house made ingredients that cannot be found everywhere, unusual tastes but so delicious. The staff was extremely knowledgable and friendly. And a first - a thoughtful wine list that complements the food, doesn't break the bank, and taste good!
Well done Macintosh. Will definitely be back. All the accolades your are receiving are well deserved.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't Miss a Bite at the Macintosh!Took our CofC son with us last week - great spot - Started with the Scallops and the Percorino Truffle Frites. Scallops were seared perfectly - and consider yourself warned - the Frites are addictive! A large bowl of crispy shoestring potatoes perfect for munching on by the whole table - would love to make them at home! Dinner was the Grilled Deckle - my son ate every bite - I loved the duck breast -crispy with tasty sides of garbanzo beans, mustard greens and onions - the grilled cobia was perfectly seasoned - another good choice. Dessert was the decadent chocolate brownie s'more -very rich - you only need a few bites - great to share. Service was great - glasses kept filled and the waiter answered very question - menu is interesting!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a group of six andWe were a group of six and had a table up front in the window- it was fashion week and the restaurant was hopping. The MacIntosh is a fun restaurant to be seated in. Despite how busy everything was, we had a terrific waiter who never neglected us and a delicious dinner. The hot and sour soup was out of this world! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal; all wait staffFantastic meal; all wait staff were great but almost TOO informative; don't need a redo on the menu items when they are delivered to the table, and would really be better to only highlight a couple things on the menu rather than receiving an elaborate description on everything!
however, again, food and staff were so great--thanks!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu changes daily...onlyThe menu changes daily...only the best and freshest ingredients around. Outstanding service... The waiter was knowledgeable and passionate about the food. I truly don't care for scallops but he was so enthusiastic that I ordered them and they were out of this world. The deckel was like butter. The cinnamon roll bread pudding was to die for. Even the bread. (from Butcher and Bee) was excellent. And they refilled my champagne glass gratis! Perfection!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLinger at the MacintoshThe incredible food at the Macintosh is backed up by impeccable, exceptional service from staff who are foodies just like you. Now our favorite. Lively and loud ambiance didn't diminish the experience for us. Menu changes daily based on what's fresh and what's local.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbIf there was a way to give them a six I would. My husband and I travel to Charleston frequently and we were ashamed we did not find The Macintosh until now. One of the best meals I have had in Charleston. Would unreservedly recommend.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu offered a range ofThe menu offered a range of bold and innovative choices which you don't often find today. We started with beef tongue carpaccio and sweetbreads, each prepared to perfection with a unique Southern flair. We followed with a vegetarian dish of local rice with a range of local greens including kale and fern blossom. On the side we enjoyed a bone marrow infused brioche. The service did justice to Southern hospitality. One of the best meals we've ever had...and we've had some good ones.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific food, friendly professionaTerrific food, friendly professional staff. Our server, Ross, did an amazing job recommending dishes and cocktails. Starting with the pork belly soup and the Beef belly and our entrees the duck breast and pork shoulder with root vegetables all prepared perfectly! And I can't leave out the bone marrow bread pudding. Wow! We can't wait to go back!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood times in the CityThis was my fist time dining here. Ive been to the bar area several times and had always been enticed by the food I saw being served. The burger is excellent and the chicken fried sweetbreads. If your in the mood for a rich and savory side, try the bone marrow bread pudding. Our server Malcolm was knowledgable and attentive. By far one of my best dining experiences in the city. After the meal, be sure to go upstairs to the Cocktail Club for a signature beverage and energetic atmosphere.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
