A word from The Lucky Well
Food Network Star and restaurateur Chad Rosenthal has been recognized as one of the most talented purveyors of barbecue in the Delaware Valley.
His critically acclaimed Memphis-style ribs, brisket, smoked chickens and side dishes are unquestionably some of the best barbecue one can find north of the Mason Dixon line. Chad expanded his menu and brand, to include comfort food, a full al a carte menu, a full service Whiskey bar and a live music lounge... Also featured will be a Southern Style Brunch on Sundays, all day, all night....

The bar at The Lucky Well features a top-shelf whiskey collection, which naturally compliment the flavors coming out of the kitchen, along with craft-brewed beers and classic cocktails. Cocktails will include some of the ingredients used in the cooking process.

More information relating to The Lucky Well and its full scale music venue will be available shortly on our website.

Went here with some friends for the Eagles Colts game on MNF. While not a sports bar, the bar area at TLW worked perfectly. Big flat panels were strategically located in 4 different locations so every seat had a view. The tap list of craft beers is long and well put together. Home made spicy peanuts to munch on and the best Q in the Philly area to chow down on. Couldn't ask for more. If you weren't into football, the dining room is nicely segregated so you can have a nice sit down restaurant meal. Owner/Chef, Chad Rosenthal, serves all the classics but either with a neat twist or just taken up a notch so it's simply better, and a few originals. FYI, they also have a long craft whisky list. There is simply no reason to not eat here!

Four of us went for our first time on Saturday night. I am originally from the South and have consumed plenty of good BBQ. The BBQ here was very good. The pulled pork shoulder and St. Louis ribs were excellent. The choice of sides was not extensive but what we ordered was good. Being Southern I like fried okra and black eyed peas, but understand these are not staples around here. The decor isn't exotic but appropriate for the theme. The owner/chef walks the floor and seems to be concerned about his guests experience. I always find this to be a plus. If you are a Bourbon drinker there is an extensive menu and reasonable prices. We will definitely be back soon.

Incredible food and attentive, educated service. The star of the evening was the brisket followed closely by the brussels sprouts and smoked tomato soup. Chef Chad came by the table and was of course charming and gracious and we will most certainly be returning - hopefully more than once!

A tremendous addition to the Ambler dining scene! The unexpected combination of creativity coupled with good old-fashioned southern food is one well worth the trip. We had the gazpacho du jour and the roasted beet salad (sweet beets, black berries, toasted pecans and a jalapeno dressing to add bite), a brisket that would have been at home anywhere south of the Mason Dixon, and a shrimp po-boy that was as good as any we've had in N'awlins. Service was attentive and personable, we were seated immediately, the selection of beers and whiskeys was extensive. Definitely recommended for a relaxed and excellent dinner.

I had the beef brisket sandwich and the meat was a little tough. The reason I had it is because of the reviews. I am use to other type of Brisket which is very tender. I also did not care much for the smoke taste. The other people that I was with said it was ok. Not my favorite place.

The Lucky Well is the closest to authentic BBQ I've encountered in the Montco area. Wings were the highlight of the meal, pulled pork shoulder is also great. Ribs are St. Louis styles could have been more tender but the other choices made up for it. Drink list is also strong, with plenty of whiskey and bourbon options to choose from. The only negative is that half of the restaurant consists of high top family style tables where you can seat yourself. I recommend making a reservation for a more relaxed low top table.

So came back 9 mths later and it much improved! No wait to be seated (w/reservation), contentiously attentive service, hot food! Had yummy "special" fig cocktail. Had tater tot special which was tasty but sort of "trash can" tots with stuff purchased from Ambler Farmer's Market that day. A little "too much of a muchness" I had good brisket. Nice and fatty and moist. And a very yummy wedge with grilled red onion rings which was a great touch!!! Hubby had pork sandwich and was bummed as were more cubes vs. the pulled or chopped he is used to and topped w/the trad N.C. coleslaw so kind of weird. I tried the wings someone else ordered and they were yummy. Other tablemate had burger which he devoured. Dessert so-so. I will def go back.

We went as a family and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was wonderfully prepared. We especially enjoyed the brisket which was not over seasoned and the wedge salad. The corn bread was rich, tasty and weighty with flavor. What made the experience all the more special was that the owner/chef Chad Rosenthal came around and inquired of our food and experience. He is very personable and so proud of his restaurant. A lovely evening. We'll be back.

I really don't get some of the negative reviews I saw of this restaurant. We had a fabulous meal here. The kitchen could do nothing wrong. Everything tasted great. The meet was fall off the bone tender. The appetizers and side dishes were delicious. Absolutely loved the beet salad, brussels sprouts, grits, and sweet potato mash. The Texas Poutine was out of this world and worth going just for that. The beers on tap really complemented the meal. Our waitress was attentive and made good recommendations. We liked dinner so much that we came back the next day to try some other items! Just one warning: the portions are so generous that you really have to share almost every appetizer, side dish and entrée.

I so wanted to love The Lucky Well, but truth be told I don't. The atmosphere is pleasing in color and design, but that isn't what matters to me. The crux of all good restaurants is good food, good service, appropriately priced. We did get good service. The three of us ordered the brisket and were served cookie sheets full of very fatty meat. It was so fatty it was almost impossible to separate the meat from it. I had two pieces at the bottom which is what I expected the entire plate to be for that price. The meat was very, very smoky and didn't have any sort of bbq sauce accompaniment to balance the flavor. The cornbread was dry. Collard greens were good as was the sweet potato mash. We passed on desert. Could be good, but needs work.

The Lucky Well was a lucky find. So many restaurants have the same look and it was refreshing to see something different. The bar is amazingframed with white tile. Long tables for community dining are a trendy feature. A relaxing sofa and chair area looked inviting for after dinner lingering with a southern whiskey in hand. BBQ menu. Our food was delicious and service was attentive. Great spot in Ambler.

The Lucky Well is the real deal. Chad Rosenthal takes his craft and his devotion to "Proper BBQ" seriously. It is evident, even as an outsider, that Chad refuses to compromise on the quality of the product he puts his name on. The pork shoulder is about as close to perfection as one could hope for in BBQ (if there is such a thing). The brisket is juicy, tender and blessed with just about the best rub I have ever tasted. A very passable draft beer selection (even for beer geeks such as myself). Although I am not a whiskey drinker, I am told that the available selection is the best around. I have yet to have a disappointing meal at The Lucky Well. Great ambiance. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are very acceptable!

This was my second visit. The first had been for lunch and this one was for dinner with my wife and teenage daughter. Kale salad both times -- it alone is worth the trip. Wife and daughter had burgers -- both tender, perfectly cooked and excellent in all respects. I had tri-tip skewers as an entrée (it is also available as a BBQ selection without accompaniments. It was just OK. Meat was borderline tough and largely flavorless (unexpected -- I anticipated that it would be tender and flavorful). I suggest that visitors stick to the brisket and other BBQ specialties. Will definitely go back, even if it's just for the kale salad.

We came to Lucky Well with another couple on a Saturday evening and had a great meal. Between the 4 of us we had the beet salad (delicious),.French onion soup, ribs, brisket, tri tip skewers (all in half sizes), added on shrimp skewers, mashed sweet potatoes (yum), mac and cheese and corn bread. Everything was fantastic! There wasn't one thing we wouldn't order again. (We even had leftovers to bring home and enjoy the next day.) The pricing is very reasonable! The wait between appetizers and the meal was a little long, but the food was worth the wait. We will definitely be back!!

It IS a good place to go for dinner after a movie across the street and I would go back. Just saying it's not one of the memorable meals to tell everyone about. Entrée choices are fairly limited. Go with friends and share a few side dishes such as corn bread, baked beans, fries, mac n cheese, etc.

Stopped in for the restaurant week picnic deal and lobster rolls. The ribs were delicious, very tender and the seasoning on them was very flavorful. Mac and cheese and brussel sprouts were both good. The lobster roll isn't normally on the menu but it should be! If you stop in, make sure to get one (or more) of their whiskey cocktails. For starters, they ran out of one of their main bourbons (which is used for a feature drink) early in the night. When I learned I couldn't try the "rosey" because they were out, I played it safe and ordered a Bulleit rye manhattan. Don't make that mistake. It was all bourbon w a small splash of r vermouth and maybe a drop of bitters and SHAKEN to death! I sent it back and just ordered Blanton's neat - 2 oz. They must've been upset because they brought me 1 oz (for $16!). Also - I'm from TN. I know BBQ. This was over seasoned and overcooked. Maybe it was a bad day? If you like loud and are fascinated that a former food network star contestant walks around visiting tables maybe it's for you. For me - it's about the food and service.

It was a celebration of anniversities for the 3 couples that came to dinner. The food was very good and warrants a return visit. I like some of the obscure dishes offers like the chopped kale salad, corn bread, hush puppies, poutaine, & Brussels sprouts. The Mac and cheese was awesome, sweet potatoes were also good, but the corn bread stoudout side the box. Most restaurants us a boxed mix for this item but this was exceptional. I recommend ordering multiple items and sharing if there with a group of people. Do not miss dessert.

We ordered WAY to much food, but enjoy what we could eat. The mac and cheese was awesome and I enjoyed the cornbread. If you order the fried pickles as an appetizer make sure you keep room for your entrees. The drink special was really great(Grilled Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita) and we loved the beer selection! I had tried to get reservations in the past but the place has always been so busy. I was excited to finally take my son here so he can compare it to Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse. We were seated promptly and drinks arrived swiftly. And then the wait to place an order began. We went at 8:00pm on a Tuesday night. The place was fairly empty. We were in a side room with only 2 other occupied tables. We saw our waitress and one other coming in and out. Once we finally ordered, the tasty food arrived quickly. Only complaint was the dry corn bread. Waited for check was long.
