A word from The Lucky Monk
When you name your restaurant after Trappist monks who've spent centuries perfecting their craft, you're serious about your beer. That's why we hired a master to craft our house brews and why our beer list spans the globe. With everything from refreshing pilsners that match the lightness of our thin-crust pizza to dark, rich ales that stand up to our decadent burgers, you're certain to find a new favorite at The Lucky Monk. We're sure that our Prime beef burgers — served with hand-cut fries — will be the juiciest you've ever had. Our other house specialty is pizza. It is crisp and generously topped with fresh ingredients. And we round out our menu with vibrant, flavorful salads; a handful of classic, satisfying American entrées; and some sweet surprises.

Whether you're settling in at our bar or relaxing with your friends and family in our comfortable dining room, our delicious food, drink and warm welcome are sure to elevate your soul.

Don't let the monk scare you off, seriously good brew and food is awesome as well. The grilled cheese-burger with bacon looks awesome, I didn't have enough guts to get it though. Went with chicken soft tacos which were fabulous.

First dinner at the Lucky Monk. We had burgers and beer on the patio on a Wednesday evening. The place was pretty crowded even during a weekday evening, so you might want to make sure to make a reservation. The burgers are very good and the patio is a nice little departure from the energy inside the bar and restaurant.

  • Great food, inconsistent waiter

This was our 4th/5th time dinning at the restaurant. As always, the food and house beer was great! Though this time the waiter was nice & friendly, just he as forgetful. We were a party of 9 (6-adults & 3-kids). Four of us had been to The Lucky Monk previously. Our only complaint was the waiter, who forgot to bring out the kids carrot appetizers until we asked for them once our main course was delivered, even though we ordered the cheese curd appetizer...which is very tasty. Than the waiter was hard to find and had ask another waiter to get ours. Lastly, he forgot to either place the order or bring out the Cookie Skillet...which we waited somewhere between 15-30 minutes.

Appetizers and Burgers here are extremely good. pretzel trio is fantastic as are fried pickles and fried deviled eggs. Burgers are some of the best I've ever had, 1/2 pounders cooked to perfection with many types and styles to choose from. Bar selection is also quite good, and service is well above average!

This was our first visit and it did not disappoint, The dinner was very good, at our table hamburgers and seafood entree's were ordered. All were very tasty and came out pretty quick. Good selection of house beer and cocktails for the non-beer drinkers. The server was very attentive, good suggestions about dinner and drinks. We made reservations based on previous reviews, I would suggest making a reservation for an evening just in case.

My wife and I frequent this hotspot. We love it. The beer is fresh and crisp. The burgers, including the spent grain quinoa burger, are yumzos. Unfortunately, the greens on my wife's salad were a bit out of date. It was not a big deal, but the Monk took care of it. Thanks!!

This place was an awesome pick! We made a reservation beforehand - so we were able to just walk right in and sit at our table. The restaurant was accommodating by providing us with a booth as well, which is something we asked for in the reservation. The server was super nice and attentive and the food was really really good. I would definitely come back!

This is our 4th visit to Lucky Monk and the food was great as usual! We have always had great service as well until this time...our waitress was not friendly and did not like answering questions...didn't like smiling either, except when it was time to collect her tip. If we hadn't been with friends she would not have gotten one. I have NEVER done that before and even though our friends agreed the service was poor we just couldn't leave without giving her a tip.

Even with a reservation, there was an extended wait for a table. We ordered drinls and a starter and finished both while waiting over 45 min for dinner. Our server told us the manager would comp the starter because of the delay. Friday and Saturday are not good choices because of the crowds. I circled the parking lot for ten min. waiting for someone to leave so I could park. Very loud, very busy and hetic. The last two visits have not been good.

The food was excellent, our waitress was very good, the only little annoyance was a family sitting next to us at a round table with three little children who were rocking and climbing on the chairs, running around and making a lot of noise while the adults sort of ignored them. Perhaps the Lucky Monk is too kid-friendly.

The food we had was average. We ordered the baby back ribs and the fish and chips. The ribs were good tasting and the meat fell off the bones but was mushy. I was not expecting anything special with the fish and chips and I was not surprised. I have to say that the fries were very good, however. If we come here again, I think we will stick with the burgers. On the plus side, if you like beer this place has some of its own brews. Unfortunately, they were out of their seasonals, but The German wheat (one of their regulars) was very good. It may be a good place to visit before or after seeing a movie due its location near the AMC Theater.

  • Bad service, mediocre food
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

After trying to order, we were told that they were out of 3 of the beers on special for the month (out of 7), the special lettuce that made up 3 of their salads and the veggie burger. This was surprising as it was only 7:00 PM on a Friday night. We asked for a few more minutes, expecting 5 and ended up getting 20 only after we flagged down our server. Our appetizers and drinks came out quickly. An hour later, after we asked where our meals were - a pizza and a salad - a manager came out and apologized for the delay. 10 minutes later the food came out but the salad was the wrong one. A new one came out quickly but was still wrong. The manager paid for our entrees. Free entrees couldn't fix a 2 hour dinner with mediocre food with bad service.

i ordered the chopped salad with some variations and received the salad exactly how it was ordered. this was great. my friend ordered a side salad and the corn chowder soup. when the salads were delivered the server told us there was a problem and the corn chowder couldn't be served. we thought the server should have let us know that soon after we ordered and not when the food was being delivered. the manager did come by and explain that she didn't like the corn chowder presentation. if there was something wrong that is great that they didn't serve it but because of the timing of letting us know my friend didn't have time to change her order. they did ask her what else she would want and they brought a small baguette and butter.

We really enjoy this place and have always gone after a movie or whenever we just want a local brew. It's not often you can find a suburban locale that has a good selection of beers brewed specifically for that place. The food is not typical pub fare, although they do have those as well, but have a unique way to provide what you desire. We especially love the variety of tacos and fish offering they have.

We have visited the Lucky Monk at least a dozen times over the past 2 years. Our grandchildren beg us to take them there! Their hamburgers (especially "smothered") and sweet potato fries are simply outstanding. This is one of the few restaurants that are confident enough in the quality of their beef so that they will serve a "rare" hamburger! I am not a beer drinker, but a fried tells me that their house craft beers and ales are also great. They honor Open Table reservations by providing seating quickly and courteously.

After hearing great things about The Lucky Month, my husband chose this restaurant to have our first date night since having our son 4 months ago. I ordered the spinach and goat cheese burger and was disappointed that I could hardly taste the meat because there was soooo much goat cheese. Also my fries were cold so I didn't enjoy those. My husband liked his steak tacos though. The beer flight was yummy, our server was great and the dessert menu seemed appetizing. We will likely go back eventually if in the area and wish our first experience was more noteworthy. Overall it was nice but any trip outside of the house without a newborn has its upsides!

All of the food tastes great, however do not come here unless you have two hours to spend once you are seated. This is the third time we've made reservations, been seated on time, yet still missed our movie because it takes way too long to get our food and bill. The four of us ordered burgers and it still took over 1.5 hours from when we sat down to when we were able to leave.

We ordered the pretzel trio appetizer which consisted of three unexpectedly enormous pretzels. Way too much for two people, but very tasty. For our entrée, we shared the Sunrise Burger which was disappointing. The topping were good, but the burger itself was unremarkable and not particularly flavorful. I was underwhelmed by the dessert offerings, but we went with the Cookie Skillet which was just okay. I'd like to see some lighter options on the dessert menu. I did the beer sampler and in my opinion, the only worthwhile varieties were the IPA and the Belgian. The other samples were bland. Our server, Donato, was excellent. If we come back, his service will be the reason we'd be willing to give the restaurant another chance.
