  • "so nice to find a new place with very nice staff, good food and a fun atmosphere!!"

  • "Absolutely delicious. We love the small local menu. Will definitely return next time we are in town!"

  • "Nice touch to have our name on a chalkboard at our reserved table! The menu for the day was on the reverse side. Our waitress, Chelsey, told us every ingredient in each item on the menu and explained how each was prepared. My husband and I both chose the snapper and split the beet salad. The fish came with puréed carrots and an assortment of mushrooms. Everything was delicious. We each had a draft beer, a stout, that was very good and was a bargain at $3 a glass happy hour price. When Chelsey found out we were visitors, she gave us a list of some of her favorite restaurants in Charleston. Thank you again, Chelsey, for your service and your recommendations! We will definitely return to The Lot the next time we visit Charleston."

  • "The Lot is my go-to spot for brunch. If I could permanently book a table for Sunday morning, I would. You will not be disappointed if you give this place a try."

  • "This was our fourth visit to the Lot in the past five months and again we had a terrific dining experience. The menu is totally different each time which makes it like going to a new restaurant every time we go. The server carefully explained each dish and made recommendations which was very helpful since everything sounded so good. We keep going back and that's the best endorsement we can give them."

  • "It's not much from the outside but the food is fantastic!!"

  • "I love everything about this restaurant, it is cozy and friendly, not too big, staff are very lovely and patient in explaining the menu. The food is amazing, everything fresh and different every day. And not just the vegetables. All the meats are local and prepared by the chef. It is a real treasure in every way. And to have it here on our own James Island is extra special, too."

  • "Went for brunch- there were 3 of us. Cute to walk in to our reservation and had our name on a blackboard at the table :) Waiter was laid back but good, Atmosphere was cute Bohemian-like.Small menu items to choose from but everything was locally grown/ harvested. Portions were perfect and nicely presented not to mention ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !!! Definitely will go back for dinner and try again since the menu changes continuously :)"

  • "interesting gourmet level food well prepared and presented. Wonderful service"

  • "Inspired and unique menu; local farm produce prepared in inspired fashion. My wife and I highly recommend this fine addition to the local dining scene. The pork chop special surpassed any pork dish in my past experience; also, beyond any 5-star veal chop preparation ever."

  • "Appetizers were fantastic. Two entrees shared were good but nothing memorable. One of the appetizers was one of our favorites ever."

  • "My wife and I really loved the atmosphere. It is "cozy" and has a lot of nice touches. It is very small so it was a good thing we had a reservation. All of food I saw come out had nice presentation and looked very good. The chef was very accommodating to requests. We are both vegan and heard that they would make vegan entrees so we decided to leave it up to the chef. We weren't specific at all; just ordered vegan entrees. The meal came out in one huge pan and we shared it. The vegetables were all really fresh and well-cooked, but that's all it was - a mix of seasonal veggies. Overall it was very good, but I would have loved to have a grain like a rice underneath. Next time we will be more clear with the request. A little expensive, too"

  • "What a great meal! The food was amazing, the wine was excellent and the staff were very friendly and informed. It was awesome. I can see how the music from the Pour House could be irritating but it's a nice happy place and we soon forgot we were bothered by it in the beginning."

  • "My husband and I recently dined at the Lot for the first time, despite MANY trips to Charleston. Actually, I chose The Lot based on the reviews of Open Table diners. I was definitely not disappointed and highly recommend a trip to The Lot! The food was outstanding and it is an absolutely charming restaurant. Though the Pourhouse next door can be a little loud, the food and the service at The Lot are so good you don't notice or care! The farmer's vegetable plate was amazing - if it is offered when you visit, do not pass it up!"

  • "Enjoyed lovely meal with 4 girl friends to celebrate a birthday. The server explanation of the menu items was a truly enjoyable experience in of itself! In fact during the decision making process we asked our server to repeat several of the items again and she accommodated beautifully! Our group has been to several other restaurants that claim farm to table, The Lot IS farm to table! And the preparations were really excellent. One girlfriend had the trout and proceeded to recommend it to a neighboring table when they were ordering. The neighboring patron decided on the trout and then the two of them had a quick mutual admiration society going after the meal. The Risotto was EXCELLENT!! Worth a return trip to Charleston to experience again!"

  • "The noise from the bar next door is pretty bad. The food was good. The service was a bit slow. I would try it again though! Creative idea and you can tell the chef is talented."

  • "Fresh, healthy, tasty food. Loved the farmer's plate with seasonal vegetables prepared in interesting and flavorful ways. The sea bass and steak were equally great. Also, because they had a big holiday party, they brought us a complimentary dessert of warm hazelnut cake and ice cream and apologized for the slower than usual service. We didn't even notice that the service was slow! So that was a nice gesture. We'll definitely be back."

  • "On word: Great! Go don't miss this gem. Farm to table, new menu every night. Very creative dishes. Nice presentation."

  • "This was our second visit to the Lot in two weeks and again, we loved the food. Very different and very tasty. But the service was not as good as the food. We ordered a second round of drinks to enjoy with our entree and the drinks never came. We cancelled the drinks and they were still on the bill which we caught and the bill was adjusted. This experience will not keep us from going back. We really like the Lot."

  • "THE LOT WAS AMAZING! cannot believe I h avent tried it sooner. Cant wait to go back! And so glad its on open table!"

  • "Good food, pleasant service, and decent wine selection made an enjoyable meal. The loud music from the Pourhouse, connected by a wall, was annoying at first. Luckily our timing was good, the band finished and the next wasn't for a couple of hours. So be warned, this isn't a conventional restaurant, it's the other half of a live music venue with loud bands. The desserts were just okay, but both the appetizers and main courses - bavette steak, and fish, were very good."

  • "Truly a delightful dining experience! The chicken was served on the most creamy grits and for a non-lover of collards, I ate every bite! My friends enjoyed their choices of steak, which was cooked perfectly and the veggies were so fresh we could have picked them out of the garden that day! Service was the best!"

  • "The staff was tripping over each other for a few minutes but it all finished smoothly. It was fresh and delicious The prices were $8-$14 for brunch entrees The burger was $12 and delicious The biscuits and gravy were overpriced, but delicious at $12 The mimosas were fresh but expensive and you pay per glass."

  • "Pulling into the parking lot we had no idea what a wonderful evening we would have. The food was fabulous…very interesting, made from items they received from the farm that day. The waitress really understood and explained the food selections. We cannot wait to go back again."

  • "I brought three friends with me and everyone was pleased with their dinners. The farm to table veggies were flavorful and colorful. The meats and fish were fresh and well seasoned. We were happy with the wine list and the drinks were very nice. The waitress kindly lowered the volume of the music when we asked her to."

  • "Superb food made with superfresh ingredients. Was rather noisy because of an event that was going on in the neighboring bar/lounge.I would go back in a heart beat."

  • "What a pleasant surprise The Lot is! We drive by at least twice a day, but until it was recommended by a friend, we had never considered dining here. The building exterior, as well as the bar next door, led us to believe it was perhaps a bit of a dive, but we were quite wrong. The interior is smallish, but comfortable and quaint with local art displays. The food, however, is the real story. We had incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, vegetables to start, followed by kale soup and house-made kielbasa. Our server was enthusiastic and exceptionally knowledgeable re. the menu. We will definitely be returning soon and often."
