The Lord Gore Restaurant provides fireside dining and mouthwatering views of Vail Mountain's Golden Peak with ease of access that surpasses most Vail Village restaurants. It is the dinner venue for the guests of Manor Vail Lodge and Vail locals alike. The dining room is elegant and upscale with a comfortable setting. The 2014 winter dining menu boasts a variety of options including inspired local cuisine such as Quail Drumsticks, Elk Lion, Bison & Colorado Lamb Rack

The passionate culinary team and professional service staff are dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience for any occasion whether it is a night on the town with family and friends or a romantic special occasion. You can customize your experience by sharing moderately priced appetizers and half entree portions or have a traditional 3-4 course dinner.

  • "We tried Lord Gore because of the reviews. I'm not sure who wrote those reviews but I am suspect. The waitstaff and manager were great and attentive but it couldn't make up for the lack of talent in the kitchen. There was only our table of four and another table of two in the whole dining room and the chef couldn't get the food edible. We all stopped eating a few bites into our meals and just looked at each other without saying a word. We didn't eat any more, it was that bad. In fairness, the shrimp & grits appetizer and the fried brussel sprouts were somewhat tasty but they couldn't carry the poor entrees which included flat iron steak and sea bass. How can you screw up flat iron steak? Save your money and time, not recommended!"

  • "Wow! We had a late reservation on a Friday night and they kept the kitchen open for us. Our waiter, Jarrod, was amazing. Everything we ate was outstanding. The roasted Brussel sprouts was delish, even for a non brussel sprout eater. The pork tenderloin was especially delicious and vegetarians (and meat eaters also) will rave about the pappardelle. YUM!"

  • "My wife and I had not been to the Lord Gore Restaurant for a number of years, and were very pleased with the service and dinner. It started when our host, Chris, offered to move us to a window table, when one opened up, after we had already been seated! Our server Jarrod was very attentive and knowledgeable about the cuisine and wine selection. Both gentlemen couldn't do enough for us. A very wonderful evening indeed! And the view of Vail Mountain is incredible. We'll be back soon!!"

  • "I've had two great meals at Lord Gore. The third, not so good. The steak was very undercooked and tough. But the main thing is their need to speed up their meal delivery. For a party of 4 we could have easily needed 2 hours to finish and get the check and this is hard when you are headed for a concert. Their crab salad remains my favorite"

It is a little out of the way since it is not right in the village, but that is part of its charm. It is definitely worth the short walk if you are staying in Vail Village!"

  • "We went to dinner "after concert" after the wonderful Bravo music festival at Ford Amphitheater featuring the the Dallas Orchestra. The Lord Gore offers complimentary parking for their dinner guests just a short walk from the Ford. We parked, went to the concert, then walked back to dinner. They had a limited menu especially designed for the after concert crowd. It was prix-fixe at $42.00 pp and had 4 appetizers, four main course selections, and a light dessert buffet. We each had different appetizers and the same main course. The food was fabulous! We asked to see the regular menu, available on non-concert nights, and it is extensive."

  • "A couple of suggestions that would get them to where they want to go. The chef and the help are great. Interior decorating: Heavy red drapes framing the windows. Swords and sheilds on the walls Animal heads on the walls Candles on all the tables, and some big ones around the fireplace Crown molding on the ceiling It wouldn't take much but it would get you where you want to go. Also, Heat up the plates you are going to be using beforehand! It is impossible to keep the food hot from the stove to the customer otherwise! Mexican restaurants do it all the time: store the plates you are going to be using to serve on that night in the oven, get them as hot as possible. Use a towel to serve and warn the customer that the plate is hot!"

  • "We were making a last minute reservation on a Friday night during the ski season and it was hard to get any reservation for larger group. We ended up making a reservation here at Lord Gore as I had been wanting to try it again as I hadn't eaten here in over 15 years. The food and service was remarkably good. The server knew the menu well and gave us great recommendations. Everyone enjoyed their food. The only real issue is the decor leaves little to be desired. The views are huge if you eat early enough or have a full moon to light up the slopes. This is a true hidden gem given that the food and service is the most important. I highly recommend you try it if you never have before. ."

  • "Wonderful for a special ocassion. A smallish menu done well. The dinners are offered in small and large size. Service was prompt, but not intrusive. Executive chef and line chef both briefly visited. The room is fully carpeted with wood paneling, for a warm and quiet atmosphere. Western view of ski slope, but the room heats up as the sun is setting."

  • "The Lord Gore was good, but not great. The restaurant, or really, the dinning room is located in the Manor Vail Lodge, just to the east of Vail Village. The food was good with the elk being the best. The service was also very good. The dinning room is very quiet if you get there early though. The restaurant is really more of a banquet room or private club room in the hotel, rather than a fun to visit restaurant. Tthere are a number of more fun dining options in Vail, Avon and Edwards. There's really very little reason to go here if you're not staying at the lodge."

Did not appear that anyone was running the floor or the servers. We struggled to get our menus, decided to order main course with first drinks as were not sure when server would be back, finally got food, ate, did not see server again until we had to hunt him down to ask for bill."

We were seated before a 2 story window, looking out onto lighted pine trees, with the added bonus of a serendipitous fireworks display for the Chinese New Year. And frankly the fireworks were fitting, because the meal was equally spectacular. Our meals included the pear and beet salads, gnocchi, and lamb; each was outstanding. The service was impeccable, and the chef came out to meet us and ask of our experience. 5 stars for all-around fine dining at a fair price. We'll be back."

  • "I was looking forward to some great Colorado cuisine (elk, bison, etc) and was not disappointed. The food was wonderful! The restaurant was much smaller than I expected but very warm and intimate (with a roaring fire in the fireplace). We came with our 10-year old son who was exhausted from a day of skiing and they even pulled up a few chairs together so he was able to quietely sleep while the adults indulged. I would highly recommend the foie gras and baked brie to start and each of the elk, bison and lamb were wonderful."

  • "This goes in my top 10 meals to date! The short ribs were the best I've ever had. Service was perfect. The waiter checked with us on timing for everything so we were not rushed. The chef came out to discuss the dishes and give recommendations. The pictures do not do this justice! It was a beautiful small intimate dining room with great views of the snow cabs working the mountain at night. The apple turnover dessert was incredible. The menu was small which is a good sign that the quality will be high and without a doubt it was. You need to try this place. I'd go back to Vail just to eat here again."
