This long time underrated Vail
establishment is out of the main village but worth the short in-town bus ride"
Dined on 3/6/2014
We were very pleased with our
meal. We did have some concerns before dinning that it was in a large hotel. Don't worry! Everything was great. I had the lamb and my wife the bison. She wished she had the larger serving. Wait staff was good. I would go back again."
Dined on 3/6/2014
The Lord Gore was good, but not
great. The restaurant, or really, the dinning room is located in the Manor Vail Lodge, just to the east of Vail Village. The food was good with the elk being the best. The service was also very good. The dinning room is very quiet if you get there early though. The restaurant is really more of a banquet room or private club room in the hotel, rather than a fun to visit restaurant. Tthere are a number of more fun dining options in Vail, Avon and Edwards. There's really very little reason to go here if you're not staying at the lodge."
Dined on 3/1/2014
The decor is tired. The food and
presentation was very ordinary. I was surprised at the rating from open table. It certainly was not a 4 plus star restaurant by any means."
Dined on 2/27/2014
Reminded me of run of the mill
Country Club experience- food was OK, service was non-existent unless asked for (and it was not busy) and decor was nice, just nothing inspired. Did not appear that anyone was running the floor or the servers. We struggled to get our menus, decided to order main course with first drinks as were not sure when server would be back, finally got food, ate, did not see server again until we had to hunt him down to ask for bill."
Dined on 2/20/2014
We ate here 2 out of 5 nights in
Vail. The food is delicious and the wine list is good and well priced. It is like eating in a private club. It is easy to control portion size since the entrees come in two sizes. Service is very attentive. It will now be a regular stop for us when visiting Vail."
Dined on 2/12/2014
Great Food, impeccable service and
an evening to remember!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Been to Vail many times. Great
experience in intimate setting. Food quality best in town. Should have #1 trip advisor rank."
Dined on 2/8/2014
I have nothing but praise for this
restaurant experience. We were seated before a 2 story window, looking out onto lighted pine trees, with the added bonus of a serendipitous fireworks display for the Chinese New Year. And frankly the fireworks were fitting, because the meal was equally spectacular. Our meals included the pear and beet salads, gnocchi, and lamb; each was outstanding. The service was impeccable, and the chef came out to meet us and ask of our experience. 5 stars for all-around fine dining at a fair price. We'll be back."
Dined on 2/1/2014
This restaurant is a hidden gem in
the Manor Vail resort. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy with the huge fireplace and the waiter, Chris, was very attentive and helpful. We will definitely go there again."
Dined on 1/18/2014
We got there and were seated right
away. The wine list was variable and great. It was a small quiet quaint place with a spectacular view of Vail mountain. The food was absolutely amazing the Gnocchi was the best dish. The food was mountain variety with a selection of many meats. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent, would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some really good mountain food!"
Dined on 1/17/2014
This goes in my top 10 meals to
date! The short ribs were the best I've ever had. Service was perfect. The waiter checked with us on timing for everything so we were not rushed. The chef came out to discuss the dishes and give recommendations. The pictures do not do this justice! It was a beautiful small intimate dining room with great views of the snow cabs working the mountain at night. The apple turnover dessert was incredible. The menu was small which is a good sign that the quality will be high and without a doubt it was. You need to try this place. I'd go back to Vail just to eat here again."
Dined on 1/1/2014
The lamb and bison was absolutely
exceptional. I didn't think anything could get better than that until we ordered the apple tart. It was so delicious. The service was wonderful. A great place for a nice dinner date or special occasion."
Dined on 1/4/2014
I was looking forward to some
great Colorado cuisine (elk, bison, etc) and was not disappointed. The food was wonderful! The restaurant was much smaller than I expected but very warm and intimate (with a roaring fire in the fireplace). We came with our 10-year old son who was exhausted from a day of skiing and they even pulled up a few chairs together so he was able to quietely sleep while the adults indulged. I would highly recommend the foie gras and baked brie to start and each of the elk, bison and lamb were wonderful."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Great place for a romantic
Christmas dinner with my wife, excellent service by our waiter Chris D. Beautiful view out the huge windows facing the mountain, we will be back."
Dined on 12/25/2013
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT
AT ALL, THE FOOD WAS REALLY BAD. I HAVE BEEN COMING TO VAIL FOR MANY YEARS NOW AND LORD GORE USED TO BE A VERY NICE PLACE TO DINE. FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, I REMEMBER THE STAKE TARTAR AND THE CEASAR SALAD THEY USED TO PREPAR ON THE TABLE, THE CHATEAUBRIAND WAS DELICIOUS! EVERYTHING WAS VERY GOOD AND NOW THE FOOD REALLY DISAPPOINTED US."
Dined on 12/28/2013
Delicious and Exquisite Food. A
must for anyone visiting Vail."
Dined on 12/29/2013
food, ambiance, service all
excellent. taylor who took the reservation on the phone and escorted us to out tabel was personable and responsive. chris, out waiter was charming and knowledgable and helped us to make great menu selections. this was on "old vail" favorite revisited and we were not disappointed. a little off the beaten path and well-worth the trip!"

Plump Pillows of Potato Pasta
Perfection! The gnocchi was my appetizer and I am still dreaming about it. Also loved the elk entrée. The space reminds me of a hunting club. High ceilings, tall windows, wood paneled. We ate at night so the view of the Golden Peak area was limited but I can imagine it's gorgeous with some daylight. Very good service and some reasonably priced wine selections. We would definitely come back."
Dined on 12/14/2013
Our server, Chris de Jager, really
made our dinner at Lord Gore a true treat. He was charming and friendly--just excellent. I was also impressed to be visited by the chef, table-side. The wine special (50% off) was neat--we tried a wine we normally not order. Our pre-dinner cocktails in the Fitz were fun (live music)."
Dined on 12/26/2013
We went to the Lord Gore for
Thanksgiving Dinner this year. The buffet of food was delicious."
Dined on 11/28/2013
Best place to eat in Vail
Village!! Ask for Lucas as your server. Will be back."
Dined on 8/17/2013
Good food and good service. And
the price was good for 3 courses. The fixed price menu is a great idea before concerts and dance performances."
Dined on 8/4/2013
A surprise treat! Appetizers and
main course were superb, dessert was lack luster but it was a 3 Course special...perhaps the dessert was not the focus. The view was incredible, even more so if you ask to be by the window."
Dined on 8/4/2013
The evening was outstanding. Food
and service was excellent. Great atmosphere !"
Dined on 7/29/2013
My boyfriend and I went up to Vail
for a summer weekend and took advantage of the 3 for $39 deal to celebrate a special occasion. The food and service were both great- would definitely reccomend to friends!"
Dined on 7/21/2013
Having eaten at Lord Gore before,
we were not disappointed at the service or the meal. The steak tartar was absolutely wonderful and the trout dish very good. We will return!"
Dined on 7/13/2013
Pretty quiet for a post-concert
dinner with a great view!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
Awesome service (knowledge of the
wine list, food pairings, attentive but not obtrusive). Wonderful food. Lovely setting a bit off the beaten track in Vail (a short walk from Vail village) and much less hectic as a result. Highly recommended."
Dined on 6/30/2013
We come to Vail for a couple of
weeks each summer. Lord Gore is a "must dine," and we really don't dine out all that often. It is always a positive memorable experience. Thanks. and thanks for the 2 for 1 entrée special last week-end!"
Dined on 6/23/2013
This is a hidden gem, in plain
sight. Perfect...we've gone several times this winter and each time was great."
Dined on 4/12/2013
The food is why you go to Lord
Gore. I have never had lamb chops so wonderful. Large, tender, cooked perfectly. All our dishes that evening were outstanding. The service was friendly but not top shelf. The atmosphere is lacking. The restaurant it's self looks like a mistake. It's as if it used to be the tired hotel lobby but then they decided to put tables in it and call it a dining room. Very strange. It also is close to the bar which is sports like and noisy Don't set your expectations high for a lovely visual experience. You will however get a wonderful meal."
Dined on 4/3/2013
Our family of 4 (kids 13 & 11)
went there while out for our ski week in April 2013. We found that the service, ambiance and food were great. It is also close to a town bus stop (but be sure to ask which stop is closest to the restaurant, we got off early and had a long walk). I would recommend this restaurant for a quiet family dinner (we ate there for Easter dinner), romantic evening, or large group."
Dined on 3/31/2013
A little out of the way at the end
of the bus route at Golden Peak, this is a great find-excellent value in a lovely atmosphere. We love that you can order small (plenty of food!)or regular size (enough to share) entrees. The menu is varied enough to satisfy almost any dietary quirksand the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The tables are spaced far enough apart to allow good conversation. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."
Dined on 3/5/2013
Enjoyed our meal. We had a nice
table in the corner, with a scenic view. There a large group that came in while we were dining. The group was across the restaurant, but they were very extremely loud. We could here there entire conversation - very annoying! Besides the incident, the meal was very good."
