The chef really nailed the appetizers (beet salad, an innovative small plate of shrimp with grits and red eye gravy). The entrees we ordered were also a hit (catfish and a house-made gnocchi). But the main reason we chose The Lodge was the trio of custard desserts- white chocolate creme brulee, chess pie and a panna cotta, but these items, were not the anticipated highlight of the evening. The creme brulee was near perfect, but the other two items were ho-hum. The service was the low point of the evening, not horrible, not great. The food was wonderful, ordered mussels, ceasar salad, ribeye steak and a bottle of red wine. We sat out on the patio, and the weather was perfect, and the view was amazing! The building is unique for Lincoln; a conversation piece all it own.
The addition of the specials menu is very nice. It expands the menu variety. I like the wine flights. Of course, the ambiance is nice year around as well. We love their outdoor seating in the summer time. Service and food are outstanding. The only thing I was somewhat disappointed in was that much of the food for the brunch was not very hot like I would have expected it, but there was a nice variety. The atmosphere was impressive the service friendly, competent and knowledgeable and the food was amazing. We brought special friends from out of town to Wilderness Ridge for dinner and they were ecstatic. They said their vegetarian curry was the best they had ever had and the rest of has steaks that were cooked to perfection.
