Diner Reviews
  • "Server was great, but food speed from the kitchen was horrible. After we ordered it took nearly 30 minutes for our salad. After we finished those it took another 30 minutes for our main course. It took so long our daughter was almost falling asleep and only ate 1 piece of pizza, which we could see sitting under the heating lights for at least 10 minutes while they waited for the rest of our food. Food tasted good. Server kept apologizing about the wait, but a manager never showed up to check on our table. The restaurant wasn't even half full. I would hate to see how far behind the kitchen would be if it was closer to capacity."

  • "I brought my mother to Wilderness Lodge for her birthday. She turned 82 & has never been to your establishment. She commented on beautiful is was & that she & my dad will have to come over & have lunch sometime. We were there for lunch on Monday, March 31st. It was a wonderful lunch with excellent food & service. The atmosphere is so warm and comfortable there. It truly is one of my favorite places to eat. And now, its my mom's too!"

  • "I took my spouse their for brunch to celebrate her birthday. While there we noticed birthdays being celebrated at other tables in the room. The buffet spread had items to celebrate Dr. Seuss. This included green eggs and ham. My favorite was the omelette and the prime rib carving. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the dessert bar. The price for the brunch was affordable.i"

  • "Uneven experience. Although live in area, hadn't gone to Sunday brunch in some time. Found the service to be so so even though we were there at 12. Food was good although vegetables were cold. Prime Rib tasty but the server clearly did not know how to trim it so much of what we received was pure fat. Great deserts. Good omelet bar but took 15 to 20 minutes for omelets to be delivered to table. Our server was polite but seemed indifferent."

  • "Wilderness Ridge is a beautiful log lodge with outstanding food; anything but eating in the wilderness. The beef selections are all good and the vegetables too. You have to have the Truffle fries and the brussel sprouts. YES brussel spouts. I can't comment on the desserts because I have never had room to order any."

  • "This is our favorite place in Lincoln for outside seating. Food and service-wise, I'd put it roughly on a par with Venue and The Dish, a couple of our other favorites, but Venue doesn't have outdoor seating and the outdoor seating at the Dish is very noisy on a downtown corner. Definitely recommend the steaks here. The menu changes some from time to time, and usually has a relatively small selection of entrees. OTOH, the restaurant has a nice selection of sides if you want a little more. I've seen a few dishes where the portions were quite large, but portion sizes are not out-sized most of the time."

  • "I have been at many restaurants due to my travel. Though the general atmosphere is nice, I found the service was a little too slow. My wife and I had the salmon, and it was a bit dry and really did not have much snap. On a good note, the waitress was very accommodating for my wife's food allergies."

  • "My wife and I dined at Wilderness Lodge for the first time this past weekend and couldn't believe we had waited so long to try it out. The food was amazing. My wife had the filet which was probably the best I'd ever tasted, and I had the prime rib which was certainly in my personal top 3. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and truly served us while not hanging around too much. I'll be eating at the Lodge again very soon!"

  • "My wife and opted to have our New Year's Eve dinner at the Lodge at Wilderness Ridge this year. We realized it would be a "set" 4-course meal and we were prepared for that, but . . . we were a little disappointed, to say the least. While there was an adequate amount of choices for each course . . . the choices were a "little out there." For our main course (Third Course), my wife chose the Verlasso Salmon and I chose the Nebraska Star Beef, both of which were properly prepared to our desire, the only issue was that the portions were very small. For the dessert course, I opted for the Chocolate Tiramisu, (which was terrific!) and my wife chose the Strawberry Pistachio Shortcake, which was excellent but was very, very small in size."

  • "My wife and I went to the Lodge at Wilderness Ridge for our first anniversary because we had our reception there one year earlier. We both loved the food, but the portions were so small that we had to go home and eat more to get full. Neither of us are big people either. When you pay nearly $30 a plate you expect to get good food AND plenty of it."

  • "My wife and I took her parents and our 16-year-old son for a belated Christmas dinner when her parent came to town. We had a great night. I had a salad with salmon, which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Others had steak, except for my son who decided to order a duck/pasta dish. It was fun to see him being adventurous with the menu!! He really enjoyed all of the bits and pieces that were in his dish---duck, apples, Brussels sprouts, etc. The service was wonderful, as always. They were not pushy with drinks or dessert. We got a Cajun shrimp appetizer---spot on, great sauce. The large tables result in far-spacing; noise bounces off the pine beams. It was hard to have a whole-group conversation."

  • "We went to the Lodge for lunch on Christmas Eve day to celebrate the engagement of our son Robin to Rachel. It was very cold outside so we appreciated the wonderful fireplace that was blazing hot. Our waiter, Henry, was very attentive and accommodating. Kyle, the chef, came over to say hello. Our waiter from our last visit dropped by to tell us that we were her favorites. Our food was consistently excellent all around. I had the Tavern Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly but I loved the risotto cake the best. Everyone else enjoyed their lunches as well. We had a perfect day at the Lodge."

  • "This was a great dining experience from start to finish. Service was friendly and professional. The manager was on the ball and the food was extremely good. We had an appetizer called NOLA shrimp that was hot and delicious and every person in our 9 person party had wonderful comments about the food. It was all hot, fresh and delicious. The atmosphere imakes you feel like you are in a rustic mountain lodge. This may be the best dining in Lincoln and I would compare the atmosphere and good favorably to anywhere around the country. The only thing I would correct is to offer some French or Italian wines by the glass. All the wine was new world and the way their kitchen cooks, these wines would even elevate the experience further."

  • "Being out of town guests in Omaha we were looking for that down home Thanksgiving meal. With a student at Creighton University we were looking for a home style meal. The Lodge at Wilderness Ridge fit that description very well with an abundance of food and atmosphere to launch into the Christmas Holiday. I would suggest this special place to anyone in the area. I was happy we had GPS to find the Lodge!"

  • "I was intrigued to visit The Lodge because of a review in Friday's Lincoln Journal Star and we were certainly not disappointed. Margaret had the quail with pumpkin, which she enjoyed immensely, crunchy pumpkin with perfectly spiced and cooked little birds. I splurged on the Wagyu NY Strip because I was curious about this product. It came to my table perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth tender. I also ordered the deep fried Brussels Sprouts, which were totally delicious, with quite an interesting sauce. Our big treat was the their new chef, Kyle Lamb, came to our table to ask about our meal. Originally from Lincoln, he missed family and friends, so came back when he could. And we are very happy that he did. I highly recommend it."

  • "We went to celebrate a Birthday after the Nebraska home game. The place was full of people in red and the atmosphere was very jovial. Filets were done perfectly and had a wonderful taste. the Steelhead trout was not filleted but still had the bones & skin. I don't mind the skin, but had to clean out the bones before enjoying the moist fish. Just wish it had more seasoning. I chose to have the quinoa with it and it was a great accompaniment to the trout . The service was impeccable. A very pleasant evening"

  • "Our server made the whole night memorable. She was the best waitress we have had there. The weather was perfect so we decided to dine on the patio. Even at night it is beautiful. The shrimp appetizer took my breath away(literally) but those at our table who liked spicy food, enjoyed it. The steaks were perfectly cooked and juicy, the roasted chicken was flavorful but a little tough (That can happen with free range birds). They complemented our chicken with seasonal vegetable and fried potatoes. The vegetables were a good addition. Always a great place to stop for a meal."
