  • An elegant high tea

Many places serve high tea, but not at this level of elegance, with the peaceful, quiet ambiance to go with it. The live pianist Fri-Sun is wonderful; otherwise, there is lovely background music. Whatever else is going on in your busy life, sitting down for Tiffin High Tea in the Langham Lobby Lounge will let you forget about it for awhile and just enjoy tea sandwiches and scones and desserts prepared to perfection. I recommend the Langham Blend and the Green Passion teas; however, there are many delicious selections for all tastes and palates. Valet parking is $5 with validation and your server will pack up leftovers for you to take home, if you have any. This is a great place to meet up with friends.

  • One note regarding flies

    Dined on 8/31/2014
We really enjoyed the Chocolate Tea! The food and service were spectacular. The only sour note were the flies that were landing on the food. I could not enjoy myself as much as I wanted to with all of the flies that were landing on the desert tables. It was very disconcerting to see them and wonder if they had landed on the food. For such an upscale restaurant something needs to be done about this problem.

Hotel is lovely, tea was good but the food is all brought out at once! We enjoy the tea rooms so this is not our first time and every other tea room brings out each group individually. So your sandwiches are warm, the desserts are soft and they do not give serving utensils? Everything from the sugar to food is all by fingers, which is tacky. Asked for more cream for our tea, never got it, had to go up to the bar to ask again. The view? A photo shoot was going on outside so the curtains were drawn, so view was non existent. The room is old and became very stuffy. They dropped the check off saying, we are now closed! It was 430! No atmosphere here, try anywhere else for the high tea experience would be our suggestion. Very disappointing.

This was my first time having tea at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, which is tucked away among gorgeous homes with beautiful landscaping. On Sundays, they serve Chocolate Tea, but I had made reservations for their standard tea service. The staff and management were extremely accommodating regarding the miscommunication. I recommend calling to reserve a table as opposed to reserving online which would have avoided this mistake. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere, lovely, complete with a pianist! Our menu was tweaked, but we enjoyed everything we were served including the tea. This is the perfect place for small groups. You should make reservations when you have time to relax and savor the food and atmosphere! :-)

Took my wife here for afternoon tea on her birthday. Fancy mini sandwiches, delicious scones, and decadent desserts. Maritza was our server, and she was fabulous. I'm not a tea person. But this was a great experience. If you love tea, this is a great place to spend some time with people and enjoy each other's company.

My Wife and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon sipping on tea and eating several edible delights. Our experienced was greatly enhanced by the great service provided upon arrival to the moment we departed. Audrey, Jenny and Erica made our visit comfortable and truly memorable. Thank you, ladies!!! One of the many highlights was when a birthday dessert was brought to our table. As Jenny brought the dish out, the talented Pianist performed "Happy Birthday" on her piano. My Wife already wants to go back to enjoy another afternoon there. Thank you all so very much!!!

We went for High Tea. A wonderful selection of finger sandwiches, scones, crème fresh, lemon curd, pastries and strawberries. The Orchid Oolong tea was so great I bought two 8 oz packs to take home. Our hostess/server was so friendly and sweet. She brought us champagne with Kir and cake for our birthdays. The pianist played an array of beautiful music as well as Happy Birthday. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is beautiful. Previously we went to the Tap Room and it was also great. Take extra time to visit the reasonably priced gift shop with beautiful leather items, crystal, jewelry, towels, handbags, and more. This is a special place for refined guests...just wonderful.

If you want to forward my note to the F&B Director and team, they might appreciate the feedback: It was a full house, I didn't mind that. There were at least two big parties - a bridal shower and a children's party. Customers with children should be strongly advised to watch their children. This is common courtesy. The kids were playing around the chocolate fountain area, touching the food, which probably led to staff members cleaning-up the area prior to closing (this was around 3:15). My guests and I were still eating. The staff brought out a big, blue trash bin and started to throw out food! This, at best, was poor form. Food should have been carried to the kitchen and, if needed, disposed off discreetly. This visit was a disappointment.

The Lobby Lounge is wonderful for a full tea with delicious scones, sandwiches, cakes, desserts. It is Old World elegance. The service is impeccable. Often there is a pianist. Overall, very relaxing when you just need a little escape from all the hustle and bustle. The house tea blend and the green passion tea are my favorites. Get away from it all and enjoy. Valet parking is validated.

This is a fabulous experience start to finish- the chocolate teas are simply lovely ( and so flavorful), the sandwiches and pastries are ( no other way to describe it) decadent and delicious. My mom and I had done their regular tiffin tea ( superb) and decided the rest of the family needed to taste it- the males were leery, but ended up really enjoying all the flavors ( and who doesn't love unlimited champagne?!). They also have an oh so refreshing elderflower rose lemonade if you aren't interested in the champagne. I am definitely coming back for more!

The hotel is hidden in the neighbor of San Marino, limited parking on the streets with permit. We got valet parking from the Lounge. Food was eye-catching, deserts were too sweet. But overall a nice place for girls chat and photo shoot. Too bad the picture bridge was under reconstruction and we missed it.

I'm afraid they have not upgraded the Tea Room in 20 years! It is looking very dated:-) The Tea sandwiches were fancy but the bread was stale. They did not offer a very large selection of tea. I have been to tea at the Langham many times and this was, by far, my least pleasant experience. The service was poor; the food was below average. Our party of six was seated at two tables of different heights that had been pushed together. So, 2 of us were sitting on a fairly low couch and the other four were sitting in regular chairs. It was very awkward. And, of course, this is not an inexpensive dining experience. Not sure I will return.

The service was very slow, had a late 2PM Tea Reservation, and other then a menu we received no attention for a half hour, the tea was brought and we did not receive our tray of food, for a hour it was after 3PM and we still did not receive our tray . Other who came in and were seated 20 minutes after us, were served before us. We were we hungry because we did not eat lunch since we were going to a afternoon tea, but the flow of the afternoon was ruined as we were almost ignored, they were only serving about 6 tables between 2 servers, so I have not idea what the hold up is. The tea should be left on the table so guests are not left at the mercy of the servers coming back and pouring..by the time we had our 2nd pour the tea was lukewarm.

We have held our annual holiday tea get together at the Langham for several years. This year did not disappoint. This property is beautiful and the ambiance in the Lobby Lounge is wonderful. We love that we are not rushed out and have time to chat and catch up. The food is always lovely, however, this year it seemed a little ambitious and we left several pieces on the server. Loved the tea choices and we will be scheduling again for next year.

From the moment you're seated you've entered into a world of classic luxury. There's low classic jazz playing in the background, warm & inviting natural light, & best of all it feels private. The staff was friendly & attentive. We did the Traditional Tiffin Tea. The Langham blend is perfect if you like black teas, & the Kyoto Rice tea is also very good. The table spread, assortment of pastries, & savory sandwiches are displayed beautifully. The smoked salmon, shrimp, & prosciutto sandwiches were my favorite. All the cakes with berries & chocolate, especially the passion apricot cone were so good. I'd definitely go back again for a special occasion with close girl friends. It's truly a special experience every girl should try AT LEAST once.

I have read about the Chocolate Afternoon Tea at Langham Hotel for years. It is very expensive - $59/person. I had great expectations about the quantity of choices and the quality of the food . My friend took me there for my 45th birthday, but I have to say, we were both disappointed. For the price one pays, it seems, the food tasted like leftovers from brunch, the sandwiches were dry, the toppings on the sandwiches were dry as if they had been sitting out for quite some time. The chocolate sauce that was used for the fountain tasted like Hershey's bottles liquid chocolate you place on ice cream - in other words, cheap and very artificial. The place is beautiful, but the a quality of the food was just not up to par for such a hotel. :(

I took my Mom and sister here when they visited for my Bridal shower weekend. We had tea service at lunchtime and it was completely dead in there. It was beautiful, but almost too quiet. I would recommend for small groups since there was no lack of space or tables. It's a little pricey for tea, but the tea was exceptional. The finger sandwiches were tasty and plenty of desserts!
