"A great special occasion location. scones were delicious - light and flaky. the salmon tea sandwich and crab tea sandwiches were also noteworthy. the complimentary custard was a delightful and delicious surprise. noteworthy dessert was the lemon macaroon."

"By far, most exceptional afternoon tea I have ever been to. An overabundance of finely crafted tea sandwiches and pastries. I could hardly finish all that there was to offer. A bit pricey but well worth every penny. Would go again in a heart beat"

"My two girlfriends and I went to The Lobby at the Peninsula for the Chocolate Bar. The selection of desserts - which weren't all chocolate - was superb. There was a made-to-order crepe bar, as well. The jazz quartet was the perfect touch for background music. The service was just right - attentive, but not overpowering. Our tea and coffee were refilled at appropriate rates, and our plates were cleared promptly. The waiter even warned us to pace ourselves, and let us stay a little bit past closing time. I would definitely go back - it was a great place to chill over great chocolate with the girls."

"This is my favorite Chicago place by far for afternoon tea. Food offerings were different than last time, so that was nice to see some variety. LOVED the tiny sandwiches, espec seafood ones. The desserts this time were just so-so: not my cup of tea, pun intended!"

"This is a warm and welcoming lobby dining site at the Peninsula Hotel. While it is pricey, no request is too trivial, the food is excellent and service top notch. It is, the most civilized place to have lunch in Chicago. The view is "urban scenic" with large windows that even make a overcast day seem bright with a view of Michigan Ave. We had menu service on this occasion but tea service is work the trip as well."

"My family and I went to the Lobby for English Afternoon Tea. I studied abroad in London and have been trying to find the perfect place for tea in Chicago. I haven been to the Ritz and the Drake, and the Lobby is by far my favorite. The had the best scones and sandwiches. The staff was very attentive yet kept their distance so you could enjoy your time there. I would highly recommend the Lobby to anyone who is interested in Afternoon Tea."

"My best friend was visiting from Seattle and we decided to take her two daughters out for a very special tea at the Peninsula. The Lobby restaurant was elegantly appointed and musicians played classical music from a balcony. All of us thought the food was exceptionally tasty and very pretty. We had a wonderful time! The two little girls were charmed by the kindness of the staff, and they love the Teddy Bears in their Peninsula hotel uniforms."

"What a disappointment for brunch. First, there was no brunch - just a breakfast menu. Second, seriously, toast made from bagged, sliced bread like you'd pick up at the grocery store; hashbrowns that tasted frozen, poached eggs served on a hard-as-rock english muffin, etc. Third, service that seems all upscale but then refills the coffee of one diner and not the other, doesn't know the menu well enough to know what goes with what, etc. All for that price?"
