A word from The Little Door - Santa Monica
The Little Door - Santa Monica is located in a charming historic building on the border of Santa Monica and Brentwood. Wrought iron gates open into a courtyard where the villettas within are being lovingly restored with careful attention paid to the original detailing. Built and occupied by
renowned architect John Byers, this landmarked gem has previously been the home to two successful restaurants.

It is too bad, but money talks and
everything else walks. We were at Villetta on Wednesday night. The staff informed us that this Friday, today, would be their "last day". The restaurant emerged from Bankruptcy and the Ago People are taking over. The restaurant will be closed for 60+ days and will re-open with a different name, menu, chef, staff, etc. We have enjoyed Villetta for it's 3 year existence and want to thank all of their excellent personnel for making it a terrific dining experience for us."

Only downside was that the music
was a bit too loud. We were sitting next to the back door in the front room and when the music was turned on it was definitely too loud. It was turned down but then crept back up again. Otherwise, delightful dinner."

Another lovely night at Villetta,
except for a group of 3 women patrons who were so noisy and inconsiderate that we had to move our table. It was a chilly night. We decided to dine in the bar. Unfortunately, 3 unattractive, very loud women came in about 15 minutes after we sat down for our meal. We could not stand it and moved back outside. Lynn our regular server was just as delightful as always. Franco, the bartender provided very interesting discussion of drinks and wine. The cuisine was spot on. A great time marred by some ugly guests, but we will, of course go back often."

From the bruschetta amuse-bouche,
to the funghi pizza starter to the linguine fruitti mare main (even to the bartender chatting in Italian), this place has the feel of a genuine Italian restaurant. Excellent food and good service."
Dined on 3/3/2014
The ambiance was romantic, the
service over the top wonderful... but the food left much to be desired, especially for the hefty prices we paid. The beet and endive salad came out without endives, and we had to search for the artichokes in the artichoke salad. The pasta bolognese was delicious--absolutely wonderful--but the ribs (recommended by the water) were tender but tasteless (served with bland mashed potatoes and boiled carrots). The wine was good, the waiter was amazingly sweet and attentive (giving us a free chocolate mousse for the lack of endives in my salad), and the manager attended to all the customers. The outdoor dining was beautiful, private, romantic, and fresh. If they work on the cuisine, I'll go back."

Had a lovely evening with good,
simple food and wonderful service."

They did a great job on a
challenging night. Our waiter was awesome. Wine selection was superb. Pasta dishes were amazing."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Though we usually don't like
dining out on Valentine's Day, Villetta changed that experience. There was nothing rushed about the evening, the food and service were outstanding. We love this restaurant."

will probably book a wedding
rehearsal dinner there!!"

Our evening at Villetta was
wonderful. We had a fabulous server named Pietro, and the maitre d' was most accommodating to our wishes for a private area where the ten of us could wander around before dinner and enjoy the room after dinner too. The food was spectacular. It was a lovely New Year's Eve. Many thanks to the staff at Villetta."

One of our favorite spots; the
staff is always pleasant and the food delicious. Antonio is always very welcoming and accommodating."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Everything seemed to be
overpriced. The wine per glass was outrageous. We didn't feel that we got value for our money. Very attentive staff and nice ambiance but it didn't measure up. Definitely won't be returning there."
Dined on 12/30/2013
The service and food were
excellent. The last time that I dined at Villetta it was for a Girls Night Out Christmas event and the staff went out of their way to make sure it was an enjoyable night, even helping us carry in our gift bags!"

Perfect evening great service
attentive owner beautiful decor"
Dined on 11/30/2013
Everything was better than we had
ever expected. We will definitely be back."
Dined on 11/13/2013
The outdoor patio seating is so
comfortable and inviting and the meals are always superb. But best of all, Francesco is an amazing waiter that always makes the evening memorable."
Dined on 11/9/2013
We had a wonderful time. Giorgio
was so patient and kind in explaining the specials and wine. He allowed us to "taste" before deciding on our vino! The attention to detail and personal attention was outstanding. The ambience incredible as we were set right before a gorgeous burning fire! I would say this is one of the BEST places I have ever been. The food, wine and service! Total 10! The squash ravioli was a melt in your mouth....delight! Best!"

My husband, mother and I dined
here for my birthday. It was delicious food and excellent service. The chef sent out a little appetizer as soon as we sat down. We love when restaurants do that! Such a nice touch! The owner is there to greet you with a smile when you walk in. He is buzzing around the restaurant to be sure everyone is happy. He knows the business and I believe this is a neighborhood restaurant that will be here to stay."
Dined on 11/2/2013
This is in a great location - I am
not crazy about how they remodeled the space. I liked the old world charm of the previous restaurant given all of the patios with vines on the walls. The indoor bar area is nice. The food is okay - nothing special - very expensive. Pastas seem to all be over $25. I had a pasta with sausage and mushroom and the sausage was very chewy. Salad of artichoke and arugula again okay but not worth the $15 or so they charged for it."
Dined on 10/18/2013
This restaurant creates an
atmosphere that takes one to the Amalfi Coast. You don't feel that you are in L.A. The food is top notch and the service is impeccable. It is a bit expensive, but worth it overall."
Dined on 10/17/2013
Better portion sizes than
expected, excellent service, great drinks and food. "Dealer's choice" for the drinks is a fun option"
Dined on 10/11/2013
We let our waiter choose his
favorite items, he did not disappoint! It was a wonderful atmosphere, with incredible food."
Dined on 10/8/2013
Although their street front is
quite small, this is a restaurant with a big heart. One is made to feel like a returning family member, even if you only dine there occasionally. The food and service are excellent. The wine list is a little short, so you may wish to bring your own bottle. Overall, a really good choice for an intimate dinner or family gathering."
Dined on 9/30/2013
First time I have dined there and
was very pleased. It may be my new favorite Italian restaurant in Brentwood, and with the competition in the surrounding area that says a lot. Best butternut squash ravioli I have ever had (and I have tried many!) Sitting outside on the patio at night under the trees had a great atmosphere that you don't get at other restaurants."
Dined on 9/28/2013
Fabulous! Different restaurant
compared to the first month of operation."
Dined on 9/20/2013
Had a fabulous time - service,
food - all just amazing - Loved it."
Dined on 9/20/2013
Villetta allows you to relax, talk
and take your time in a way that is reminiscent of a "Mi casa es su casa" philosophy. I loved it and my date felt the same. The Bar Room has a great feel to it. It is like some other restaurants price-wise in the area- if you work at it hard enough it would tend to be an expensive meal. As an experience though, that same reality was fantastic! The filet, the mussels, pasta and right thru dessert was very tasty. Go and have fun!"
Dined on 9/11/2013
My review is very simple and to
the point. Great Food!! Great Wine!! Great service!! Great atmosphere!!"
Dined on 9/9/2013
Perfect romantic Anniversary
dinner spot with my husband. The food and service were outstanding. We felt like we were in a trattoria in Positano, Italy."
Dined on 8/22/2013
Great Service - Great Food. Not a
place for children."
Dined on 8/21/2013
My husband and I wet over the
weekend and had a wonderful time. The restaurant is beautiful and we sat outside and felt like we were on vacation in Italy. The space is very unique, I haven't seen anything else like it especially on the Westside. The food was amazing. We dined on Pizza, salad, pasta, and Dover sole. The restaurant was very busy but our server was very attentive and did a great job. I cant wait to go back!! Its my favorite place to go and relax to have some great wine and great food!!"
Dined on 8/17/2013
A little on the pricy side but
food was delicious and very hospitable staff"
Dined on 8/8/2013
So busy don't know how he kept up
and with a smile! Recommend they get him a bar back! Good was good except for my entree spinach ravioli. Did not like at all."
Dined on 8/2/2013
Reasonably decent Italian but
overpriced for what it is. They try to compensate with excellent service but I'd prefer if they just lowered prices."
Dined on 7/28/2013
We made reservations, and waited
at the bar for a patio table. Bartender was friendly, Franco, and made good drinks. The entire staff was very accommodating. This is our 2nd visit and the food was still good (our party had several dishes of pasta, pizza, desserts, and lots of wine). The only disappointing part of the meal was the Limoncello, but it was taken off our bill per our request."
Dined on 7/27/2013
When Villetta first opened a few
years ago it was very good. Now the food is strictly third-rate and very overpriced. I took three friends for lunch last week and we had salads--really almost inedible! Something must be done or it will close!"
Dined on 7/12/2013
The headline says it all. Antonio,
the owner/GM has put together an excellent team. We sit outside and one of two tables for two along the wall. We are comfortable and the food is terrific. We've found one pizza that we love and try different dishes all the time. On this occasion a rizzoto with assorted shell fish and saffron was outstanding. Lynn our favorite waitress and the rest of the staff are terrific. Monica the greeter/seeter is very experienced and wonderfully hospitable. All around this is a terrific place that we frequent often."
Dined on 7/6/2013
This is a great restaurant I
recently discovered in Brentwood. The patio seating is great, the staff is fantastic, and the food is wonderful."
Dined on 7/5/2013
We took my mother to Velletta for
Mother's Day lunch and she loved it. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable."
Dined on 5/12/2013
While the place has always been
special with the nicest garden dining on the west side, a gracious staff and party atmosphere, the kitchen wasn't always as good as it could be. That has changed dramatically and the food being served to happy diners is now at or above the level of the Villetta experience.A new team direct from some of the best restaurants in Italy has fine tuned old favorites and added specials that actually are special. A new lunch menu may be the best kept secret in town."
