  • "Hands down this is by far better than any visit I have had at The Melting Pot. Staff is awesome and food is AWESOME!!!!"

  • "We had a group of six that included adults, kids, vegetarians and carnivores, and we all had a ball! It's also very reasonably priced. We ordered three dinners and shared, and then ordered a dessert fondue to share and we were stuffed! Great full bar with fun cocktails, kids had a ball, and it was very quiet. You can request some of the tables in the back for a more quiet atmosphere - we will definitely be back!"

  • "There were three of us at the table and we went for individual entrees. We also had the option of an entree for two plus a $10 plate fee for the third person. This increases the appetizer size and salad count. A nice option if you are looking at eating a little lighter or to reduce the cost. We ordered the Pork, Chicken and Italian Vegetarian entrees which have three different types of meat/poultry/ravioli and mixed vegetables. Each of our party ordered 3 different dipping sauces. The serving size for the pork and chicken appeared to be about a 4oz serving and the vegi had 12 ravioli. All in all a reasonable amount to share between us and see how each tasted. We plan to go there again and would recommend it to others."

  • "Overall this was a great experience. First time at such a place and enjoyed ourselves. It's a little close quarters but u don't hear others convo to much. Staff was great, even met the owners."

  • "I find every excuse I can get to go to the Little Dipper. The food is delicious (and you get so much!), the ambiance is colorful yet romantic/relaxing, and It's far less pricey than your average fondue restaurant. Don't plan on rushing this meal - you'll want it to last! A great place for a group hangout with friends, family, or a special occasion."

  • "First time there - brought our son this past Saturday night for his eighth birthday. Had been asking to eat at a fondue restaurant. Perfect choice! I was a little worried since he can be a menace at times (a cute menace) and a very picky eater but the staff was wonderful. The inside is beautiful - Eli had a blast spinning the pictures on the walls (they've got really neat frames above some of the tables that spin and have liquid and things inside that are a lot of fun). Above is an incredible night sky hand done with tiny fiber optic lights on a black board that spans the length of the wall. Service was wonderful, food outstanding - we will be back for sure (according to our son we'll be having dinner at The Little Dipper every night! Ha!)."

  • "Wonderful restaurant with delicious food and great service! The setting is beautiful, with fun sand art on the walls and beautiful tiled tables. Definitely recommended!!"

  • "Bustled inside the walls of brightleaf square, this cozy restaurant exceeded our expectations. My wife loves fondue and we have always gone a few miles down the road to the melting pot. I'm glad we didn't this time. The Little Dipper had better service, a more relaxed feel, and even gave us a nice seat near a window. I always feel rushed when we go to the melting pot but did not feel that way at all at the Little Dipper. Our waitress was very friendly and gave a great cheese recommendation. The Little Dipper also supports local small businesses. The prices were much more affordable than the melting pot as well. We will definitely be going back for more fun and fondue!"

  • "This was a great place to go for fondue. I went with my friend for ladies night and we got cheese and chocolate for $9 each! Amazing and plenty of food to eat :)"

  • "You start out with cheese fondue, where you pick a cheese and your server melts it at the table and answers any questions. Then you're given bread and fruit and veggies, and you can ask for more of your favorites--we enjoyed grapes and apples with the cheese. For the entree, you are brought raw meat that you cook in a broth or oil of your choice. Very good, you can decide your own level of doneness and have a lot of fun with friends. The sauces are interesting but most are very salty. Also, more veggies would be good. Staff was very attentive, they even brought out wrong order and corrected it and have it to us for free. Overall a good-value, for the twenty five or thirty bucks you spend a person you spend over two hours with your meal."

  • "great for friends or family who have never done this type of dining before. I had a friend in from out of town and the atmosphere, service, and food all combined for a fun, energetic, and unique evening. I adore our server. (and the food)"

  • "For those of you new to the fondue scene, the food is amazing, but it will take you some time to experience the process. I would allow at least two hours for this meal. The staff is very helpful and explains how the fondue works. We had show tickets and only had an hour and a half to eat, so the waitstaff guided us to the quicker options. We had a great meal and were out in plenty of time to make the show."

  • "My husband and I ate here for a belated Valentine's Day dinner, and it was outstanding. We had an intimate corner booth for two. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining the menu choices. They were out of the wine we wanted, so our waitress brought us three samples to help us select an alternate. The food was really good, and fondue is just plain fun!"

  • "The service was not great this time. Our waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time. However, our food was excellent as usual!"

  • "went here for valentines day date and had a great time! we had the pre-fixed 4 course menu which was great. the only thing is that i am both vegetarian and gluten-free and my options were extremely limited for the main course. It would be great if the restaurant would at least have gluten-free bread, as that is something most restaurants have by now. But other than that, the restaurant, food, and service was fantastic! Great date spot"

  • "I have always loved fondue and the Melting Pot has always been my good go to place to get it. However, after finding this great neighborhood gem I much prefer this over Melting Pot. Don't get me wrong, both places offer high quality food at an expensive price but there is just something about The Little Dipper that I love. It feel more "homey" (is that a word?). They use a lot of local ingredients and have some of the best service around. I highly recommend The Little Dipper to anyone looking for a unique dinning experience and great food."

  • "My boyfriend and I just did cheese and chocolate fondue on valentines day and it was perfect! Beautiful decor, friendly waitress, and food came out promptly. We were both stuffed by the end and it was so delicious!"

  • "It's a great fondue spot, with pricing to match. Service is friendly, helpful, and prompt. Really, there's not much else to say about the food and service, other than the fact that you get what you pay for, here; it really is worth the price. Something else to consider is Little Dipper's devotion to supporting locals. The cheeses, meats, breads, even veggies were all locally sourced; from farms, bakeries, and other local suppliers. For a place like this, that could easily get by on its own charms, to be that plugged-in to the local food scene is AWESOME! I would absolutely suggest Little Dipper to anyone I know."

  • "The Little Dipper is BY FAR the very best restaurant in the Triangle area!! Wonderful ambience, incredible service, a fantastic value for what you get, and absolutely delicious food! Some very unique local ("919 menu") selections are especially intriguing. They actually use local farms to get much of their food. HOW COOL IS THAT! GREAT SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "I am a frequent patron and BIG fan of the Little Dipper in Wilmington so it's sister store in Durham had some big shoes to fill. I am happy to report that they did just that! The experience was amazing. Even with my reservation, I had a little bit of a wait due to happy patrons that just didn't want to leave. The owners handled my wait respectfully and professionally. Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

  • "I made this reservation for an anniversary dinner. When we got there, we realized that there was a (super well priced!) Restaurant Week deal going on, so the place was busier than expected. We had to wait a little while for our reserved table, but the staff was very nice and gave us a glass of wine while we waited. The food was exceptional, and our waiter was very nice and attentive. There was a bit of delay on getting drinks from the bar, but not too bad considering how busy they were. I would definitely recommend The Little Dipper to others, and plan to return soon!"

  • "It was nice, for the experience, cooking your food, course after course. So, a good place for private conversation on a date or with friends. As far as fondue, the experience is fun. Yet, the taste is just nice- not as exciting as food can be like tapas. I think that is just fondue- the restaurant is good for what it is- personally, I guess I am just not blown away by fondue- meat cooked in broth, fruit dipped in chocolate sauce. But pretty good."

  • "OpenTable reservations will really come in handy for this gem of a restaurant. It has a sister restaurant in Wilmington, NC which has won awards through TripAdvisor and OpenTable. We've been there several times so we had high expectations and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant had just received an extremely positive review from a local critic plus it was restaurant week so it was very crowded. I expect you'll want to make reservations in the future based on what they've seen lately. We chose the Cheddar Ale appetizer with Yuengling beer, Cesear Salads, chicken, tuna, pork, and filet for the entree, and then the peanut butter and dark chocolate supreme dessert. WOW, these were great and of course expertly cooked (by US). Hungry yet?"

  • "Went here with a few friends for their restaurant week dinner menu and had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and they great flavors for the cheese, entree, and dessert courses. Also, they have awesome sand/water artwork on the wall that you can rotate to make new sand scenes."

  • "The only negative thing about the place was that drawn out nature of dinner. We were there for 3 hours, and at times, it took a long time between courses."

  • "Have been to the Little Dipper in Wilmington before but tried Durham for Restaurant Week with a group of friends. The service was outstanding -- more than accommodating, pleasant and friendly, warm and not too intrusive. The flavors were excellent and the meal more than ample - don't fill up on the bread in the first course! The restaurant week menu was reasonably priced, and the Thursday night date night menu with wine pairings looks like an excellent evening. And don't forget to check out the cocktails!"

  • "A nice fondue experience! Food was ample and of good quality, with attentive service. Plenty of choices. We visited during restaurant week, which had a special menu but one could also order from the traditional menu offerings."
