The Listening Room CafeBest venue in town to watchBest venue in town to watch a songwriters round! The acoustics are great! Larger space than their last location but it didn't lose any of it's charm! Limited menu, but very good food...not your typical "bar food". Free valet parking with validation so you don't have to worry about finding parking downtown when you go here!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat local spot for music & foodWas in Nashville for just one night with my two kids (ages 13 & 10) and another family (with kids as well - ages 16 & 13). Wanted a local spot with good food and live music that was appropriate for all ages. The hostess at The Bluebird Cafe recommended this spot. Boy was it a great recommendation - we hit the singer/songwriter night and were treated to some fantastic young artists singing their own songs. The kids (and adults) loved it. It was wonderful to see aspiring songwriters, maybe one day we'll hear one of their songs on the radio! Food was fantastic - burgers, ribs, pork, fish tacos - all terrific. The fried pickles were phenomenal and the mac and cheese was delicious. I would go back in a second and I highly recommend it!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGemI have been to The Listening Room Cafe many times. As usual, I was pleased with my recent visit there. Great table near the stage as we requested. Great food and drink! Great music! Fun seeing friends there.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Place in Nashville! We visit Nashville a lot, and this is definitely our new favorite place! We loved the food, and the bands were superb! Can't say enough good things about it!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat people and wonderfulgreat people and wonderful music
would go again and again6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat music cafe!It was great to have dinner and great music to go along with it. It felt similar to Bluebird but larger and you don't have to be quiet the whole time. They offer complimentary valet if you are having dinner, which being right in downtown is a fantastic plus! The burgers were awesome! Food was a little on the expensive side but since we were there for a special occasion we had planned for that. We loved it and will definitely be going back! We have already recommended it to several of our friends!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeWish it was just a LITTLE bit quieter. But definitely enjoyed it. Great music every time I've been and the food is good too. Waiters are always very nice. One of my favorite places to go in Nashville to hear songwriters. Sometimes I just feel like they're up there singing their hearts out and everyone is at their tables talking and laughing and eating, not really listening. But like I said, its still a great place. I'm not sure there's really a way to control the noise level in such a large space. It's good!! Definitely the BEST place to go downtown, by FAR.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat music, great locationWent here on a Wednesday night so pretty quiet, however, really enjoyed the four performers we saw. The food is ok, typical bar food with a few interesting choices thrown in. The room itself could use some better decor/atmosphere but our waitress was excellent. I really enjoyed the option in downtown Nashville of a more laid back environment to listen to some great new siner/songwriters!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticA group of us from Minnesota wanted to experience what Nashville had to offer...we foud The Listening Room. It was a great experience! We had the best time listening to music and taking in the Nashville scene. The food was great and wait staff kept our drinks coming. What a great venue for us to experience what Nashville has to offer.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMvery entertainingIt was wonderful to see and hear a songwriters interpretation of their work before it becomes a hit. The atmosphere and acoustics were wonderful.
We also enjoyed the food. The sweet and spicy pickles were great. I had the burger which was very good. It might not hurt to expand on the entree offerings.
My only negative was our server got a little overwhelmed with his tables and was lost at times.
This will be another destination for us next time we visit Nashville.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood local fareVery interesting space with enthusiatic staff and very interesting dishes. We tried a little of lots of specialities and liked everything. Really good service and pleasant experience. Would love to go at night.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MusicMy first trip to The Listening Room was quite memorable. Since we had just one night to go we were gambling that we would hit it on a good night as far as the entertainment. We were not disappointed. The first thing that struck us was the decor. It was very relaxed and comfortable. The americana theme was done just right. Not overbearing like a Cracker Barrel or similar restaurant. But enough charm to give ambience but not distract from the main attraction- the music. The old phone booth inside was particularly charming and great for photos. The service was attentive but not overbearing. We really enjoyed the open feeling that the building had. The music was great! It was a nice break from the Broadway bar scene.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Love Love it..........My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary there and absolutely loved it. The music was amazing. Every entertainer was wonderful. The food was delicious and the prices couldn't be beat. We will definitely be back!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMusic and FoodWe hit a gold mine here. Wanted to hear live music and eat a healthy meal and we got both. Had the salad with strawberries and then the ribs - wow the ribs were great. Coming from Chicago, we know ribs. Not greasy, I didn't feel weighted down after eating them.
Listening to live music and eating without my ear drums bursting was great. I never felt rushed, the wait staff was super and we will certainly come back next time we're in town. I'm recommending this venue on my blog - Nashville Nancy.
Thanks again.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat conceptThe Listening Room was exactly what we were looking for in the way of a pretty decent meal but with fresh live music to enjoy while dining. The artists were young fun singer songwriters trying to make their way in the Nashville music scene. The audience was pretty respectful and permitted us to hear the music easily. We're it not Vandy graduation for our son, we would most certainly return again. Our 3 20'something kids all enjoyed the venue and meals.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEvening Dinner & SongThe Listening Room is a nice quaint showcase dinner theatre. The acoustics were great for the music, there was plenty of room in the restaurant, and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend you get the Grilled Stuffed Jalapenos. The Listening Room and their staff obviously work hard to provide a great restaurant and showcase theatre customers that enjoy a good meal and a show while they are eating.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChris Blair has outdone himselfChris Blair has outdone himself in the new Listening Room Cafe experience. The cozy yet cool ambiance has an understated vibrance that permeates. I loved the tasty and mild goat cheese charred jalepenos. My Makers Mark Salmon was cooked perfectly -- great temperature and delicious glaze that didn't overpower. My new favorite cocktail is the Blueberry mint julep that definately packed punch. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful with specific suggestions according to taste. Then there was the music! Marcus Hummon and son Levi performed together in a rousing set that soared effortlessly--- perfectly suited to the space that somehow manages openness and intimacy simultaneously. I absolutely intend on a second helping.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favorite spotI went to this place for lunch last week and LOVED the food! This new location has been completely renovated and is absolutely beautiful. After enjoying the lunch menu, I had to go back with friends and see what all the hype was about for dinner. I'm so glad I did! We all enjoyed it so much. Marcus Hummon was one of the performers who wrote Bless The Broken Road for Rascal Flatts, among many more. He was fantastic. I ordered the Whiskey Salmon and my boyfriend ordered their "famous" Smoked Pork Steak. My salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection and neither of us had ever heard of a smoked pork steak, but WOW! Delicious! Bar drinks took a bit of time, but that's because they are made with real fruit and worth the wait. We will be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I are vegan diners,My wife and I are vegan diners, and the staff was extremely helpful. The chef made us a dish of sauteed vegetables and grilled portabella mushrooms, which was very delicious.I would highly recommend visiting this place if you are in Nashville.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a really good mealWe had a really good meal and saw two great music sets.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent location in NashvilleExcellent location in Nashville and a great spot to hear some good music. The food has always been amazing and I look forward to each visit there. The free parking helps, as well!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good, no doubt,The food was good, no doubt, just a little expensive for salad or a burger.
The waiter was very helpful, good service. The people some times too noisey to be able to enjoy the band. It would be helpful if the customers did not have to pay to park:
$8 for two hours.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fried sweet pickles wereThe fried sweet pickles were awesome! Had a great time listening to some of the local singer-songwriters. We even got to hear the two girls from the show Nashville sing their version of Ho Hey by the Lumineers! Had an awesome night.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for lunch. Great menu.Went for lunch. The building looks great outside and I loved the interior as well. Music was great! David Smith and friends....enjoyed them immensely! I will be returning!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMade a reservation on a whim,Made a reservation on a whim, and have heard good things about this location. I was not disappointed in the least! The live music was wonderfully enriching to the dining experience. Although we were seated right in front of the stage, and a bit loud (to be expected), it was an overall fantastic experience. Our server was friendly and outgoing to make sure my partner and I were taken care of.
I will say that the restaurant side leans towards being "safe" with their food. We ordered the turkey/apple sandwich, cajun fish tacos, and stuffed jalapenos. In hindsight, something seemed to be missing... that extra "pop" that would have me order it again and look forward to a return visit.
All in all, they have gained a new regular.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat great, talented singersWhat great, talented singers were here. All singer song writers with huge talent. Service was really friendly, great fried pickles appetizer & fish tacos were good too.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Jason Connelly band wasThe Jason Connelly band was amazing! Wow pleasantly surprised. incredible talent, food was fantastic, great
Evening out!!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRelax and enjoy great music! This is a great venue in Nashville to listen to original music performed by very talented singers and songwriters. The food is way above the standard bar fare, and their beer and wine selections are good. The servers were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was laid back and fun. If you appreciate good music and want to venture away from the Honky Tonk scene on Broadway, walk a few blocks south to this gem in Nashville.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Listening Room is a greatThe Listening Room is a great venue, and an improvement over their old location in Cummins Station because of the layout of the room. There's enough of a variety on the menu to please any taste. I didn't drink alcohol but they have a nice selection if you do. They did seem a bit short staffed for a Friday evening, but the service was fine.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome venue. I decided toAwesome venue. I decided to take my fiancé to the valentines day event and we had a wonderful time. Food was excellent, the servers were all super friendly and did their jobs very well (8 years exp on my end). Definitely earned my repeat business!2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful butEverything was wonderful but the thing that makes it is the sound. The music was loud but for some reason never interfered with conversation. The food was amazing and the drink pairings were perfect.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Spot, Wonderful MusicWe only had one night in Nashville and really feel fortunate that The Listening Room Cafe was where we spent it! The ambiance was relaxed, the music was incredible, and the food was great. We also appreciated that it was easy to find and that the parking was very accessible. We could have listening to Brandon Calhoun all night long. The band was so fluent and flexible, with members of the audience coming up to join the band and play their own songs. Each person was a great performer with a great voice. Very enjoyable! Thanks for the great taste of Nashville!2/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
