  • "Nice place over all but the food is really lacking in flavour, execution and originality. I would go back for a beer but give the food menu a pass."

  • "salmon overcooked. caesar salad mediorcre - lettuce seemed old and wilty. wine, however, was just right."

  • "I'm a regular at this spot. The food, the staff, the location are all top notch! I will definitely be back"

  • "Arrived for a 12:15 reservation and was served quickly but our food took 55 minutes. Our server was good but y steak was tough when it finally arrived. It's a downtown restaurant that should know how to prepare for the lunch hour"

  • "After an hour our lunch was finally served - and the food was underwhelming. this was a surprising disappointment based on previous experiences - but won't go back for lunch after this experience."

  • "The burgers are super tasty and has a nice beer menu. Down side the service is terribly slow. Its not the first time I've had lunch at this place and it consistently takes around 30-45 minutes for your food to arrive. When the average person only has 45 min. to an hour for lunch that's a big no no. If you got time for a bit more relaxing lunch or after work bite you can't go wrong with this place but if your crunched for time I wouldn't recommend it."

  • "Great place to grab a good lunch without breaking the bank."

  • "Libertine has a small but acceptable menu for lunch. The salads are tasty but the presentation is a bit sparse. A silver bowl with handles seemed a bit constrained, like eating leftovers out of a Tupperware container. The lunch atmosphere was lively, I was there for a business lunch so it was maybe a bit too loud at times. That said, it also assured me that no one was listening in on our conversation. I would go back again but not to impress anyone with my choice of a food venue."

  • "Our reservation was for 12 for a birthday but we had over 20 people show up, the tables pushed together for us were very large and the hostess was quick to go find more chairs and make sure everyone had a seat. I chose this place for its pubby yet modern atmosphere so that people could come and mingle rather than be glued to a formal dinner seat. Several menu items were out of stock but there were enough options to choose, except for our gluten-sensitive friend. The nice big windows make it feel like alfresco and less like a dark pub. Overall, good place for a group to have a good time."

  • "Great food and service as always! Always enjoy coming here for lunch :)"

  • "Service was slow, order was incorrect... Food was just ok. Some odd ideas in the kitchen really. Sour cream on top of the poutine? No thanks."

  • "We went over our lunch hour on a Friday at noon and got seated right away but our food was still not on the table by 1pm. Our server said our food was still 5th in line in the kitchen. We did get a couple free drinks but our lunch was over 2 hours which is not okay for the downtown lunch rush. The restaurant itself was very nice, the food ended up being really good but the service was just okay. I recommend the gluten free pizza!"

  • "Enjoyed the burger and fries. The rest of the menu looked very delectable. Next time I plan to try out the duck confit poutine!"

  • "The look of this place looks really nice and the beer menu is decent, but the menu is not great. The food choices are unusual (maybe that's what they are going for) - but it was not for me. I would not visit this place again unless it was for casual drinks."

  • "I really enjoy this restaurant and find the service, food and beverages generally above par. On this particular occasion I ordered the wedge farmers salad with steak. The steak was tender but on the small side. There was very little else other than a quarter head of iceberg lettuce, a few sun-dried tomatoes, two or three crushed and candied pecans, an egg and a few bacon bits. Definitely not worth $22.50. The new menu still needs some work. Bring back the trout salad."

  • "I enjoy the Libertine and will be back, though on this occasion, our service was exceptionally slow."

  • "Have gone several times. The food and service has been consistently great."

  • "Lunch took 2 hours and we had to take our food to go as we did not have time to eat it. We hardly saw our server and had to involve the manager several times. The carry out food was terrible, most of it was thrown away, and they forgot one meal. Never again!"

  • "I love their burgers in general, but the top of top is absolutely 'Damn good burger". As its name tells us, it is amazing!"

  • "The Libertine is consistent in prompt service and fantastic food. The menu seems to change seasonally which means you have to keep going back so you can try everything. The menu always offers a variety of items and options for every type of diet. They are exceptional at accomodating any food intolerance or allergies and take every precaution to make sure that your meal is delicious no matter what alterations have to be made. Amazing."

  • "Popped in for lunch. Easily made the reso on Open Table, seated right away. Server was very prompt and accommodating to my GF requests. Made suggestions and let me know my options. I enjoyed the winter spinach salad very much with add-on steak. Cooked perfectly. No steak knife provided but it was not required. A few more chick peas than I would have chosen but enough if you were not having a side of meat. Hubby wolfed down his crispy chicken Cuban sandwich and Caesar salad. All delish and satisfying."

  • "I took my daughter for a birthday lunch the day of the Canadian Women's Olympic gold medal hockey game. The place was packed and everyone was having a blast. Service was quick and efficient, the food was ample and excellent (try the Confit Chicken). At the end of the meal my daughter was given a complimentary shooter for her birthday. Nice touch! We had a great time. I hihgly recommend The Libertine."

  • "Busy pub lunch during the Olympic games. Food was good pub fare, service was friendly. The noise level was high because of it being so busy."

  • "First time for lunch with a group from the office.the good out as ordered and timely but our server was less than friendly"
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "It was busy so maybe the food problem was a one time thing but they gave me raw bacon on my poppers order, wrong soup to two people at my table and soup was cold. Told the server she was great about it so good service just really unfortunate food scenario."

  • "The manager and her staff were very friendly and accomodating finding a way to handling a big rush due to the teachers convention. Several of the beers on tap had changed since I was there last and the butter chicken special was both surprising and excellent."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and friendly. I ordered a steak sandwich, medium-well with the salad. The salad was quite delicious, but my steak was well-done. It was still tasty, but not what I ordered. It came topped with breaded, crispy onions which was a nice touch. Had my steak been done properly, I would have increased my rating by one star."

  • "We dined at Libertine for a colleagues birthday lunch. There were 11 of us and we had no trouble booking or our group. The staff were very friendly and efficient and sat us quickly and took our drink orders. We I'd come a bit prepared with per chosen items from the menu on their website - but only because some of us only had one hour to dine. The food came out right away and was to all the group's satisfaction. We had others join us later in the meal and they too were tended to quickly and with all staff portraying a welcoming attitude. I had the mushroom flatbread and it did not disappoint. The addition of the whole pine nuts to the pesto sauce were delicious! Would recommend to others!"

  • "My guest and each had a salad; the server even helped with some indecision by suggesting adding smoked salmon to my salad, which turned out to be a great idea. Food was very good for public house, service was prompt and attentive - appropriate for lunch."

  • "The Libertine never disappoints. A great restaurant for a casual lunch, or social group dinner. Lots of choices, some unique, some the reliable stand by."

  • "This was our first visit to Libertine on a Saturday night. Quieter than expected. A lot of wait staff seemed to be on shift but our waitress took some time to come to our table (she just got on shift after all), and then proceeded to spend the entire time gossiping at the bar with the other servers. Didn't come check on our food; didn't offer us water. Didn't even attempt to make eye contact. Other server staff seemed to be working hard. I finally had to go up and interrupt (god forbid) the obviously interesting story, to ask for some water. I kept looking around for a manager but no one looked to be in charge. Food menu was limited; salad was pretty good though. Wouldn't go back due to the service though."

  • "Great spot for a booked or last minute luncheon. we had a great table in the upper bar - lots of room and decent for a quick meeting with clients as well. Our server was exceptional and the food and drink were great. There was no pressure to eat and run, and we enjoyed the afternoon."
