The libertine never disappoints.
Great drinks and great food. It is loud at times but I enjoy the atmosphere. It's a great place to go. For a meal me and my wife generally spend about $100 - $150 including the tip."

Unbelievably good place! My wife
and I spent our four year anniversary night at The Libertine, and I must say it was a great choice. The service is perfect; very friendly and quick. Food is superb and the drinks are world class. I had a Screw and Bolt which is very similar to a drink I had at Le Bar inside the Four Seasons George V hotel in Paris, and I must say that the Screw and Bolt was just as good as the much pricier, internationally recognized drink from Paris. Overall, a great experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting or living in Indianapolis."

Entree portions were a little
small (or else a bit expensive for small plates). Food was delicious. Waitress was excellent. Attentive but not hovering."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Ambience and decor remind me of
edgy bars that I have experienced in New York and Seattle. Great vibe and energy. Food selections are unique, so be adventuress try something new, and served tapas style. So great way to share the dining experience with someone special or a group of friends. Drinks are just as adventuresome as the food...unique flavors and combinations...fabulous! We will definitely be back."

Libertine is an excellent watering
hole with some good snacks but they struggle to truly be defined as a restaurant. Excellent Okd Fashions. Great service. We had to send back the octopus as it was rubbery. Mussels were very good."
Dined on 2/11/2014
Started with the bacon flight and
bread which were both fantastic. The wings and meatloaf sandwich were tremendous entrees. Didn't care too much for the chocolate dessert but the french toast was much better. Love all the local beers on tap. Will certainly be back!"

My husband and I went to celebrate
with some friends. It was a great place for cocktails and an app. We chatted the night away. Server was very well versed in the cocktail selection and gave great recommendations. Can't wait to go back."

Had been wanting to check out the
libertine for a while. I am 35 years old and a professional but I do not like a boring quiet spot. Also not to noisy and crazy good food, drinks, nice modern looking atmosphere. Great drinks and service had to use the opentable app because when we got their they told us the wait was for two hours. I went on OPENTABLE and was able to get a reservation. Then the hostess ask us if we did not mind sitting at the bar, reason we were there. So opentable great option to see if their is really and open table."
Dined on 1/24/2014
The bacon flight with 3 dips is
amazing and so are the mussels! Great cocktails to go with a sophisticated atmosphere!"
Dined on 1/24/2014
We had a great time and enjoyed
the bacon and cheese plates. Both were amazing and I would recommend them. I also had a cocktail-the name escapes me-but it has mint, cucumber, sugar, lime, and vodka. Tasty! Service was a little lack-luster especially since it was my first time."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Had a buddy in from Detroit and we
decided he had to have the Bacon Flight. As always it was a hit. My drink was the Screw & Bolt and the group decided that it was the best one."
Dined on 1/18/2014
I had a large group here for
cocktails and bar snacks. Excellent. Very attentive to our needs. Thanks"
Dined on 1/15/2014
Our group of 6 friends had a
wonderful evening with wonderful food. There was no rush, courses were served in a prompt but not pushy fashion. The variety of drinks is to die for...so many options, so small a liver! I picked a few very tasty ones. The Mai Tai was perfect and the Sharpshooter was not what I would normally order but I was delighted by my choice. We had the roasted bone marrow and lump crab to start. I'm sooooo not a foodie, I'm more a meat and potatoes chick, but WOW the taste combinations in all the food including the main courses was just perfection. Definitely see us going back for more, new, interesting tastes!"

I absolutely love the Libertine. I
try to go there with my friends whenever they are in town because it offers such a unique dining experience. The drinks are delicious and the food is amazing! Although, if you are not an adventurous eater, I would not recommend going there. You'll be able to find something to eat there for sure, but your options will be limited. In my last two visits I have enjoyed meatloaf, several different kinds of bacon, hot wings, chicken fried duck, braised pork belly, pork tenderloin with lardo, and bone marrow. I highly recommend the bacon flight. just ask for it if it is not listed on the menu. The Libertine is reportedly the only place in Indy to find bone marrow and I would suggest trying it at least once!"

giving cocktail suggestions"

I loved everything about this
place. Great food, fantastic cocktails, wonderful staff. Looking for an excuse to get back to Indianapolis!"
Dined on 11/15/2013
The menu contains small portion
plates to share and you order as a group and share various tastes. All are unique and fantastic!"
Dined on 12/13/2013
Great spot. Great find. Food was
very unique and made you think. Bacon flight and fried potatoes were fantastic. Well presented with spot on service. Really like the drink offerings, on a cold night. We were there at 5 and the place started to fill up fast. Our drinks and food came out without delay."
Dined on 12/7/2013
Reminds me of some of the great
small Chicago restaurant/bars around Hubbard Street. The little plates here are great and I need them because I try to work my way through the drink menu every time. I have never had a bad drink here and the mixologist has a 20-page book of different libations with about every base alcohol you can think of - awesome! Great place to hang out and drink good cocktails in a cool atmosphere. More adult than the new Mass Av spots."
Dined on 10/22/2013
What else is there to say? The
food is fantastic and it is just part of the overall experience. Just a great spot for a drink and "small plate" meal...with lots of small plates!! It is a visual as well as a culinary experience!! And it's FUN!!"
Dined on 11/29/2013
Missed the deviled eggs and no
green salads available. Great menu choices for foodies."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Really good food, well prepared.
Definitely get the bacon flight. The drinks were stellar; I love cocktails and everything from the mixed to martinis to the Moscow mule was delicious. Will definitely be back!"
Dined on 11/16/2013
I've been here several times
before and have always been really impressed with food, service and drinks. This time the food was disappointing. I found the flavors of sauces to be bland and lacking in flavor. The cheese fondue with the potato wedges had no flavor whatsoever, and the dips that came with the bacon sampler did not compliment the bacon at all, they totally overwhelmed the meat. The service was outstanding, and has consistently been so, and the cocktails are also excellent. I always go really early (4-5 pm) because it's quiet then but it gets loud and crowded by about 6 and later."
Dined on 11/14/2013
My husband and I were really
excited to try the Libertine, but left a bit disappointment. The atmosphere and decor were great. We sat at table and our waitress was very attentive. We were underwhelmed with the food and drinks we ordered though. The cocktail menu was huge and I really liked how it was organized by type of liquor, but I had trouble understanding what the ingredients were. When I didn't like the cocktail I first ordered, our waitress was very helpful in finding me something I would like better. The food menu was very interesting, but we just didn't love what we ordered."

Such a fun place. Great service.
They were very accommodating to our large party! Can't wait to go back!!"
Dined on 11/3/2013
The Libertine has all of the
potential to be a GREAT place. Although the space has limitations in size, it is made up for by a dynamic atmosphere, amazing cocktails and superior food. What cannot be made up for though is service that does not even come close to being acceptable for such a small place. The place is made up of 10 - 4 tops, 20 bar stools and standing room for 15 people waiting. Two servers were trying to handle all of the tables as well as the cocktail area. We were the victims of the lack of staffing. 20 minutes to be greeted once sat, 30 plus minutes to pay, no water refills and not a single finished plate cleared all night. At least the server apologized all four times he "forgot" about us."

We had a reservation for 8:30pm on
a Saturday. We got there and were seated right away. Then, it took 20 minutes for the waiter to see us. The first thing he said when we asked how he is doing is: busy... That should have been a warning sign for us to leave. It took another 20 minutes to get our first drinks. The rest of the night was just poor to average service. We ordered a bottle of wine and we had to take care of it the whole night. On the positive, it is a really trendy place with great drinks and pretty good original food. With just average service, we could have had a great night."
Dined on 10/6/2013
We had a great time and the food
was outstanding. We will definitely come back. The only negative, it was very very noisy so at times it was difficult to have a conversation across the table. If we had been sitting at the bar, no problem."
Dined on 9/21/2013
Great place for dinner and drinks.
Friendly service and delicious food."
Dined on 9/19/2013
... and food too. Not only are the
bartenders skilled in heir craft, they only use ingredients from craft distilleries. Their menu philosophy emphasizes exactly what it should... GREAT FOOD... not a long list of choices. My favorite place in Indy!"
Dined on 9/19/2013
We went for dinner and drinks, and
were happy with the cocktails, but the food selections (3 total) all had disappointing aspects. We also had to get the bill corrected twice to arrive at the right things we ordered, and this on a night it was not busy in there (still to loud for normal conversation to happen easily)."
Dined on 9/13/2013
When we moved here a year ago, it
was not possible to get a table at the libertine, unless you planned for weeks in advance. I was totally surprised then, when I could reserve a table for friday on thursday morning. We were taking my friend there, who is a bit of a cocktail snob, him being a trained bar- tender and a foodie. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable, he took good care of us, checking in regularly without it being too much.My friend loved it, as did we. One thing I am not too happy about: my partner is vegetarian, and there are like three items he can eat, because even some of the vegetarian items are made with duck fat etc."

Going back next week when my
daughter comes in from New Orleans. Libertine's cocktails is what she is used too!"

Good to drop in and explore, many
liquor options, and great service. A joy to watch the staff make drinks..."

Every time I've been to The
Libertine, it has been a great experience. Cocktails are superb, the food is even better, and the service is friendly and attentive without being pushy. Love going there."
Dined on 8/7/2013
Great drinks, delicious food,
friendly and knowledgable staff...will definitely be coming back"

We had heard about this spot from
several friends and wanted to give it a try. Great "cubby-hole" wall decor, long narrow bar and professional staff made it feel very good. Had reservations for 7:30 pm but probably didn't need them. Solomon our waiter was hipster cool with tight jeans and big beard. Explained everything to us, and never uttered the phrase "absolutely" which every other wait staff says without regard to it's actual meaning. Cheese plate, cheesburger and roasted cauliflower graced out table.Excellent taste, and great proportions.Good value for price. Cocktails were excellent. Mai Tai for her, something with Rye whiskey for me...All in all an excellent evening."
Dined on 7/21/2013
great for amazing drinks, food was
good but menu could be expanded"
Dined on 7/12/2013
This is a great spot downtown for
an innovative cocktail, in a hip atmosphere. We do not live in Indiana, but there does seem to be a lack of independent restaurants, in Indianapolis at least. So it's great to see the Libertine in that sense. But this is a great bar, with better than chain restaurant bar food. BUT it is NOT a great restaurant. The food tries, but doesnt succeed. It's a limited menu, and not great execution. Sorry."
Dined on 7/5/2013
Restaurant's name says it all:
it's primarily a liquor bar, which happens to serve some pretty good food. Atmosphere of the place is designed to appeal to young, trendy, hip types -- totally black and noisy. "Music" was inexcusably loud; and even with very few patrons, the joint was too loud for conversation. Server never asked whether we liked anything we ordered, which was somewhat off-putting, especially since we ordered drinks from the website menu which are no longer on the menu presented. While this place would definitely appeal to a particular clientele, it does not deserve mention as of one of the 25 best restaurants in town, per Indianapolis Monthly."
