The Lexington RestaurantUpdated menu retro feelI liked the selections on the menu, different from memories of past lunches. Keeping the decor essentially the same is very smart.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not have improved onCould not have improved on any level. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent & very attentive. The brunch offered a wide array of items: salads, fruit, excellent pastries, egg dishes (with sausage or bacon), and the usual dinner items (ham, pork, beef, mashed potatoes/gravy, and vegetable). The food was quite good. This is a great place to go for a special occasion, with good, solid food and service to match. I would definitely return.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent time. My fish was great, but my partner said her fish was "fishy." We had the $30 special for Rest. Week it was a great choice. Our waitress was fab!!3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMJust the right amount of service.Just the right amount of service. They were there when we needed them, but not obtrusive. Great for a special birthday dinner.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIts a cool older restaurant. Its a cool older restaurant. The have a free coat check (but tip the nice lady anyway)which is really nice in the winter. The food was excellent and the service was great. They paced the meal very well, waiting for us to finish our appetizers before bring the main course. I would recommend this a a date option as there were a god number of 2 person tables.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very impressed withI was very impressed with the service! The food was excellent. We had three courses and the waitstaff had each course to us in perfect timing. The waitress came just when needed, without hovering. Everything was excellent.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lex - almost backWe wanted to try the Lexington after reading reviews about the new chef and new menu so we went there during Restaurant week. We had mixed results. The appetizers were underwhelming. The flavors of the "roasted" cauliflower were good but they must have roasted it in boiling water since they were watery. The loaded potato chips were OK but not special. The main courses were excellent to average. The seabass over mashed caulifower was OK but the fish itself was old since it had an unwelcome fishy flavor. The special pork medallions were amazing. The pork was perfectly cooked and the sauces and goat cheese mashed potatoes were incredible. The black bottom banana cream pie and cocoa roulade were very good for dessert.2/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI have wanted to go to TheI have wanted to go to The Lexington for thirty plus years. We took advantage of the Restaurant Week promotion. The decor is a bit over the top leaning toward a very elegant setting with much touches of nice woodwork. The service was excellent. We had requested a booth and it wasn't quite ready so we were directed to the cozy, masculine feeling bar. The bartender was very professional and efficient in preparing our cocktails. We paid for the drinks and the hostess came to the bar to tell us our table was ready. We had an L-shaped booth that easy would have seated four diners - there were two of us. The food was very tasty and well presented. My only complaint was the dry, hard, white dinner rolls.2/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was wonderful. Our server was wonderful. We enjoyed our food very much and had a great time. We will definitely be coming back. Perfect for date night!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA classic fine restaurant.A classic fine restaurant. Where to take your grand parents. . . unless you are a grandparent, in which case it's perfect.2/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing history involved inAmazing history involved in the Lexington. I don't know ow what the bad reviews were talking about best dining experience of my young life. (25 years old) Would not hesitate to come back2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOld fashioned dining at its best.Despite not having what I wanted (Prime Rib), my experience at The Lex was fantastic. My ribeye was exactly how I expected it, the salad was better than anticipated, and my sides were great. The desert was not our first choice (they ran out of the creme brulee) but the chocolate assortment their pastry chef put together was amazing. Sometimes things work out of the best. The star of the show however, is the dining room and bar. It is one of those places that would actually look better were smoking still allowed in restaurants and bars. So if you are up for experiencing what dinning was like 40-50 years ago, look no further.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time reservingThis was my first time reserving online and was that ever easy! Adam Bangert's mom is my best friend and with his new promotion to executive chef and us coming for the George Strait concert, this was meant to be on our list of "to dos". We were so happy with everything. My husband and I both had the sea bass and it was so delicious. My husband raved about it and didn't even realize he was eating a cauliflower mash that accompanied it. We ordered desserts to go--the carrot cake is to die for and the red velvet cake is a close second. We look forward to bringing some of our foodie friends in the near future. Thank you, Adam, for a great experience. By the way, the service was superb!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lex was on my bucket list-ItThe Lex was on my bucket list-It was everything I wanted it to be! Friendly, helpful, delicious (pot pie-hmmm) The old wood-the inviting bar-I want to go back NOW!!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Delicious lunch and a very good server (can't remember her name!). A bit noisy even tho' we came at 1:00. We will definitely be back.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered the Chilean SeaI ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband and I shared a Creme Brulee for dessert. Both were excellent! He ordered the Turkey dinner for his main course and was somewhat disappointed that the meat looked like it was pressed and the stuffing was nothing special. Fresh rolls were served before the meal. I usually skip eating them, but these were very fresh and irresistable. We each had a white wine with our meal. His was a Monterey something and I don't remember what mine was, but both were very good. We noticed they have a jazz venue that we will check out neat time!2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was great. SomeoneThe service was great. Someone was checking on us about every 5 minutes. The steak that I had was tender & moist. My wife's Prime Rib was excellent. I would highly recommend the Lexington to family and friends.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was served hot and ourFood was served hot and our waitress was excellent. She knew we had tickets to the ballet at 7:30 and took care of our needs so we weren't late.2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery friendly and efficientVery friendly and efficient staff, including the lady who checked our coats. We had the turkey dinner which was excellent, but other people seemed to enjoy their dinners also. We ate in the bar, although with reservations we were offered the dining room also. Thr bar was loud, which was expected, but the group next to us was so loud that we really had difficulty talking and could not avoid overhearing them. Of course, this is not the fault of the Lexington.
Parking can be a problem at the Lex on Saturday, but we had no problem at 6pm. There are two parking lots on Lexington Ave, and parking is allowed in the lot across Grand Ave, so that may help.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AM. I had dinner at the Lex. I had dinner at the Lex approximately 3 weeks before with a friend and last Friday with my husband. (We had not been there for several years). Both times I/we had excellent service, ordered the fish of the day along with 3 sea scallops--beautifully seared and served hot, oh so tasty; spouse started with a bowl of clam chowder that was warn, not hot, but he stated that every spoonful was packed with lots of flavor and clams and he would have it again; I had a Caesar salad that could have had a touch more flavor but was tasty, the greens were fresh. the Lex also has one fantastic Rusty Nail cocktail--all I can say is WOW--oh so good!!! Definitely will go back.2/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff make you feel comfortableThe staff make you feel comfortable and welcome. The food also provides real comfort.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe quality of the food isThe quality of the food is good. The ambiance is nice. But the steaks menu--the priciest item on the menu--has few choices and the meat is ruined with the addition of a garlic butter that frankly is better suited for shrimp, lobster, or really low grades of meat. Green vegetable servings are small and we found the green beans (beautiful French haricots verts) to be undercooked. We like a bit of life and green left in our green beans, but if I wanted them raw, I'd ask for them that way. COOK your vegetables.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for business lunch or gatherThis is a good place for a business meeting and we have also gone there for late night drinks (granted sometimes it closes if no one is there late night). The food is fine, but I struggled to find a salad that didn't have meat on it, so it's not the best place to go if you're a vegetarian or vegan. I'm sure they would have made changes had I asked, but I didn't want to come off as too picky to my companions. The service was excellent (our guest was a regular there) and the staff is always nice. We've eating there for Thanksgiving, hosted post-funeral luncheons and other gatherings. All is all a solid place to host others.1/29/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff was great, friendlyStaff was great, friendly and fun greeting. Waitress had fun banter, good wine suggestions and ensured that we were served in time to get to our event. She also took care to ensure that our gluten-free guest had several good options and offered easy substitutions if needed so she was served well. Very enjoyable.1/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the first time thatThis is the first time that we have eaten at the Lexington where the food was not as good as before. My husband had a Reuben and it was grizzley and he couldn't chew it. My walleye sandwich could hardly be found in the bun. The walleye was tasty but it was mostly bread.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVaried menu selection to pleaseVaried menu selection to please almost everyone. Prompt, efficient service. Reasonable prices. I had the mini-chicken potpie and salad combination, which I ordered because I planned to take some of the pie home and eat for a second meal. The only way the chicken pot pie made it home was inside of me because I ate every bite before I could ask for a to-go box.1/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful First Visit! This was our first visit to The Lexington. Servers were very friendly - worked very well as a team. Prime rib was some of the best we've ever had. Highly recommend it! We were celebrating a birthday - and the complimentary Chocolate Wellington was a wonderful treat! Many restaurants go with one of their "cheap" offerings. Not The Lexington! This was the speciality of the house! We'll definitely be back!1/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest kept secret of Grand Ave.Love this traditional fine dinning spot. Will be back again.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMLex has reestablished it'sLex has reestablished it's original cachet! Dependable, understated class is lacking in restaurants today, but the Lex stands out.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMCelebrated at the Lex withCelebrated at the Lex with an early New Year's Eve dinner. Wonderful! Their onion rings are awesome. Had the lamb chops and they were tender and flavorful - the best I've had. The short ribs are back and they are great!! The service was wonderful.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMloved it!Such a great dining experience--we love the "old school" types! The chefs and their servers know their menu well. It was so good we made reservations for a return visit within one week of our first visit.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMGreat value, I'd go backEnjoyed jazz room w/ Connie Evensen performing...exceptionally excellent, as usual. Sound system could be improved.
Meal #1: Seafood Linguini was good, great sauce & not overcooked. Could have been a little more zippie ie. more garlic &/or peppers.
Meal #2: 1/2 Cajun Chicken w/ Cajun Hash was good and also unique, but bernaise over top of Cajun was too much on top of a good thing. I scraped it off!12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMHelpful and friendly service.Helpful and friendly service. Romantic live jazz music. We were all satisfied with our meals.12/15/2012 12:00:00 AMHave not been to the Lex forHave not been to the Lex for years but went back after reading good reviews of updated menu. Scallops small plates dish was excellent. Prime rib also great. Server was excellent and had appropriate suggestions for wine pairings. Would love to take older relatives to celebrate a special event, but it would be too noisy for conversation.12/8/2012 12:00:00 AMWe made reservations on-lineWe made reservations on-line through OpenTable, yet the host acted like he was doing us some kind of huge favor by seating us. Not clear on what the issue was. Otherwise, every else was exceptional, as usual.12/8/2012 12:00:00 AM
