The Leopard at des ArtistesYummyWent for brunch at 11:30 on a Saturday morning. Having eaten at the original Cafe des Artistes and also at Il Gattopardo I expected to be very pleased, and we were. The ravioli was especially delicious.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMouth watering dishesThis is truly a neighborhood gem, tucked in 67th street near central park west. The food was absolutely delicious. The chef had the right idea of the combination of foods and herbs.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot!Went here for brunch on Sunday and had a great meal. The room is beautiful and the menu was varied enough for everyone to find something they loved. The fish special was a huge hit!
A VERY relaxed atmosphere, do not go here if you are in any hurry. We arrived at 11:30 & left after 2pm. Service was good but not incredible since we had to flag them down to order, to get dessert, to get the check...
They say they have a dress code & we dressed for it since we were heading to the theatre but to see others in extremely casual clothing, shorts & tee shirts was a bit surprising since it is such a elegant spot.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMa great, unexpected findi dreaded to think what might have happened to the beloved cafe des artistes...but the leopard is an entirely worthy followup. great service, great food...and close to lincoln center without engaging that before-performance crowd.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOf all components of a restaurantOf all components of a restaurant meal, the service stood out here most. It seemed as if there were three waiters to take care of us, all of whom were respectful, observant and unobtrusive.
My seafood ragout was quite good as was my husband's branzino. The appetizers were a bit small, mine being fried balls of lentils, cheese, etc. and my husband's of octopus salad. Our curtain for the ABT at the temporary venue of the Met Opera House curtailed our ordering desserts, so no comment there.
Location to Lincoln Center was ideal. The ambience was pleasant with their striking murals from the former Cafe des Artistes. Expensive but a treat.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionWhatever the Leopard does, it does to perfection. The service is quiet but unobtrusive. The food couldn't have been prepared better: tender, flavorful, moist, seasoned just right. The restaurant has always been beautiful and elegant, but as the Leopard, the quality of the meal now matches the beauty of the rooms. I eat out often and usually at restaurants where at the end the bill is higher than it was here--but this was as enjoyable as any. A very satisfying experience!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly New YorkThe Leapard is old world dining with a hip and up to date flair. The value for your dollar is as good as it gets. The diners are New Yorkers affirming the quality and understated elegance this restaurant exudes. Excellent menu selections and consistently good dishes. Do book a reservation. You will be very satisfied.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways beautiful spaceThese restauranteurs smartly retained the glorious naked lady murals from Cafe Des Artistes. The food is very good.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Italian in the areaExcellent Italian in the former Café Des Artistes. The rooms now have a more open feeling; but the beautiful murals are still there to excite the eye. Eaten there twice - excellent on both occasions. From antipasti through dessert choices we've enjoyed everything. The wine list is intelligent, and very fairly priced.
The service is accommodating and warm. We split a past course three ways just to get a taste. They brought out three plates presented for each person. Branzino boned at the table, without a bone to be found on the plate. Swordfish, Milanese, the house meatloaf, all prepared perfectly. Desserts have also been very good.
Highly recommended. Not another Italian restaurant on the Upper Westside in the league of The Leopard.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful service and atmosphereThe food was very very good but the service was exceptional. We dine out regularly and this was a really special experience. A problem was handled beautiful and I highly recommend this restaurant.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live nearby and had delayedWe live nearby and had delayed trying this restaurant after the initial reviews were so mixed. However, now we are sorry we delayed so long. Service can still be a little disconcertingly 'Italian confusion' but otherwise we really had a nice evening. The space is beautiful with the restored murals and lightened floors. Pastas are interesting and different from the norm. The entrees could use some work but we both really enjoyed our fish---Branzino and Swordfish which were both done perfectly. Don't miss the Zabilone and fresh berries made at the table.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLeopard is great !!!Fantastic food. Great service . nice wines.decent ambience and loved the murals.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEddie OMy 2nd time having dinner here and still great! Service always excellent. Food as tasty and presented as well.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous night out!!!Ahh, the lovely restaurant with softly lit rooms allowed the lush nude paintings to glow throughout the evening. Martinis and Manhattans were done to perfection. Adrian, our waiter, was knowledgeable, offering suggestions when requested, but deferring to our tastes when required. Caprese salads were excellent, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and balsimic vinegar, but the mozzerella, so fluffy, was what made the salad exceptional. My sole, lemon/olive oil basted and deboned at the table was sublime with swiss chard the perfect complement. Others had carbonara, scallops, and pasta special, which were all pronounced "very good". Lava cake and profiteroles were delicious. Coffee, Drambuie, and B&B brought our lovely evening to a close.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCafe des Artistes reborn,Cafe des Artistes reborn, the food is excellent, serves & ambience outstanding. Glad The LEOPARD maintained the standers
of the original restaurant.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated dining & serviceGreat food. Amazing service. Attentive but not intrusive. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable without any air of superiority.

We were seated immediately and our server was very attentive. Varied and interesting menu. Drinks and food excellent and served promptly. Nice decor (if you like to dine surrounded by naked women), cosy atmosphere, excellent food (the branzino special was great) - although quite pricy - and good/reasonably affordable wine list. Great experience overall.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was very goodThe restaurant was very good overall, but it was slightly disappointing. The food was good but not fabulous, the best part was the Chocolate Lava Cake. We arrived around 8pm and yet the restaurant was not bustling until 9pm, so it felt empty...and a bit lacking in atmosphere.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMJust like anything in service,Just like anything in service, it comes down to people. They treat you well at Leopard!!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTwice we have enjoyed brunchTwice we have enjoyed brunch here.Welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful setting. We will be delighted to go again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIf the noise level was lowerIf the noise level was lower it would have been a more memorable experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely historic place. ServiceLovely historic place. Service was very good but not too attentive. Allowed to take as much time as we pleased. Food could be a notch better. Also surprised about the noise level in such a cozy looking place.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service howeverGreat food and service however the decor etc was very dated as was the clientele, more of aplace your mother and not a date4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely perfect diningAbsolutely perfect dining experience each time I've been there. Exceptional wine list.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMCame here with the familyCame here with the family for Easter Sunday, 2:15pm dinner after church. We had a great time! The wine list was great, sorted by northern, central, and southern regions of Italy. Waiter recommended the Nero D'Avola "Feudi del Pisciotto" and we very much enjoyed it. Everyone ordered lamb, so we were glad they were offering both the regular menu roasted lamb, and the special Easter menu lamb chops. It was nice we never felt rushed, since the four of us were there for maybe 2.5 hours even though there were many people in the restaurant for the entirety of our meal. We really splurged on dessert and ordered the special Italian spongecake, the cheesecake, and the profiteroles. All three were fantastic! Neighborhood gem - definitely coming back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood place to eat before showService was very good, seemed like there were too many wait staff, thought not overbearing.
Food was very good - on par for a restaurant at this price point. Wife's seafood special was well portioned, my lamb slightly less so.
Ambiance is nice, though the physical layout is a little odd - steps and more steps. Murals on the wall a little over the top with frolicking nudes. Front area is comfortable, but prepare to be warm the farther back you go. Front area has entry to hotel next door which are used quite often (take out).
Proximity to Central Park is nice if you happen to arrive a little early.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance is old worldThe ambiance is old world Cafe des Artistes. It makes me happy that charm and style has been preserved.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice atmosphere and a pleasingA nice atmosphere and a pleasing menu selection. Would go back to try other items.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service!!!The service was most friendly, the ravioli dish superb and the wine excellent!!!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent;table of four; myExcellent;table of four; my cousins from Europe absolutely were astounded by the authentic preperation and presentation.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious, and weFood was delicious, and we had a beautiful bottle of Viognier. Pleasant atmosphere but too loud.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! Delicious SouthernExcellent! Delicious Southern Italian in a wonderful setting. The Leopard is located where the old Cafe des Artistes existed for many years. They gave the setting an update but kept the legendary murals. The food is inventive served by knowledgeable, professional waitstaff. Everyone is friendly and attentive which makes for a special night of dining.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time.....lots of funI dined at The Leopard at des Artistes for the first time last week. While it is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, it had more of an Upper East Side / Lincoln Center crowd.
The food was very good. It was fresh and innovative and I will be going back.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a relatively new incarnatioThis is a relatively new incarnation of this restaurant fondly remembered as cafe des Artistes. The ambiance and atmosphere of the former place has been largely recreated and the food and service are both of high standard. It is certainly not a budget restaurant and mostly for special occasions but well worth the bill. The menu is interesting and the wine list for a restaurant of this class has an affordable side. The restaurant can get a bit noisy but this is unfortunately so in many places and is often more because people seem to have lost the art of speaking in a normal level and have a need to shout at one another.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
