Acerca de este restaurante

  • Ideal por sus vistas panorámicas
  • Bueno para ocasiones especiales
  • Encantador
North Carolina native, award-winning chef, and New York Times best-selling author Vivian Howard will introduce her latest culinary concept, Theodosia, at The Sanderling Resort, slated to open Memorial Day weekend. Every element of this new dining destination will reflect the culture and history of the Outer Banks, creating a connection to a distinctive place and time.

Named for Theodosia Burr—daughter of the infamous Aaron Burr, wife of South Carolina Governor Joseph Alston, and the subject of centuries-old folklore about a ship lost at sea near the Outer Banks—Theodosia will evoke mystery and intrigue. The waterfront setting invites guests to ponder her fate as she journeyed from SC to NY in the early 19th century.

The dining room will feature rich, feminine textures, soft lighting, and views of the Currituck Sound’s endless horizon. The menu will celebrate the region’s salt marshes and fishing heritage, blending tradition with Howard’s signature innovative Southern cuisine.

While the menu is creative and the execution was very good some of the food items were not top tier. The crab claws were very small as were the shrimp. Given the price point the proteins should be premium. The service was terrible. Unlikely to return.

So I really wanted to like this restaurant! I waited a long time to get a reservation and trust me there was A LOT of hype around the opening as it is Chef Vivian Howard, that has a show on PBS. The hostess was nice but not flexible on seating, our waiter acted like he was bored to be there and just wanted to clear dishes and get ready for more bookings. I ordered the tuna tartar, which should be titled a chevice because it tuna (didn't taste fresh) drenched in lime. Not a tartar. I also ordered what the restaurant calls a shrimp/scallop slider...it was a filler based tiny patty with no taste of shrimp or scallop. My friend ordered the bluefish "balls" - awful. So it's really a shame as I am local to the restaurant but will not be going back. Sorry Ms. Vivian Howard, but this is my honest opinion.

The food was awesome! Really creative dishes that you won’t find at a mid level restaurant. The chefs are clearly dedicated to what they do and know how to make top tier food. Our server Dante was great too, nice guy and he clearly paid attention during training, he was able to answer all of questions and make great suggestions that really enhanced our experience.

Outstanding meal! The ceviche, Frogmore, tomato pie...WOW!!! The only issue was that the air conditioning seemed to be struggling so it was quite warm, especially by the windows as the sun was setting over the water. Can't wait to go back!

This was our first visit to Theodosia after the change from Kimbell’s Kitchen. We were such fans of KK so we wanted to give it a fair shot. The food and drinks were excellent. Both my wife and I ordered cocktails from the menu, small plates, and an entree. Each dish was tasty and filling. Service was good but nothing to write home about. That is where the good ended. When we were seated, we noticed flies buzzing around the dining room. This awareness only grew throughout the dinner as plates were brought to us. I’m not sure why houseflies were so prevalent in the dining room but it felt like you were at an outdoor picnic. I had to swat flies away from my wife’s dinner when she went to the rest room. Towards the end of the dinner, we noticed it get incredibly warm in the dining room. So much so I was sweating at my table. Once finished with our entrees , I couldn’t ask for the check fast enough.

Beautiful decor and setting, on the water. Food was unique and flavors well developed. Dining room seating was a bit tight table to table and there was a noticeable issue with flies.

Interesting food in small portions so you can order multiples to try a bunch of things. Sat by the window which had a beautiful view but even with the shades it was really hot at least in the section I was sitting in. Also there were numerous flies in the restaurant I think they need to leave the front door closed.

We had a delicious experience at Theodosia. The ceviche was so yummy and we recommend the frogmore red drum and the tomato pie and definitely leave room for the lemon pie - so, so good!
