A word from The Lazy Goat
The Lazy Goat is a Mediterranean-themed restaurant with a menu featuring global influences from Spain, Morocco, Italy, France, Greece, Africa and the Middle East and a relaxed atmosphere where taking the time to "linger and share" is encouraged.

The diverse menu was created to accommodate a variety of diner preferences with meat & cheese plates, small plates to “graze and nibble,” and main dishes.

Guests are invited to take their time while "trying a little bit of that and a little bit of that" or a "whole lot of whatever they like".

Diner Reviews
  • "I am a huge fan of The Lazy Goat and have enjoyed experiencing subtle changes and exciting additions to an amazing menu with the now former Executive Chef, Victoria Moore. With Executive Chef Michael Kramer at the helm, the food is still delicious with complex flavors, but the menu lacks the former variety and refinement that I came to enjoy. The "Share or Not to Share" portions - particularly the Kobe Flank Steak - are a bit larger, making me feel less inclined to be adventurous and order additional nibbles throughout the meal. The toughest part for me - no more Porchetta. I encourage Chef Kramer to stretch his culinary wings, but to be mindful that frequent diners, much like the goat, can be stubborn when it comes to too much change."

  • "How is it possible to have a ordered a medium rare steak but to get it cooked well done except for a very cold, very raw center? After sending it back to the kitchen it was obviously microwaved to "fix" it which then just made it chewy. Terrible in every possible way - this was our second and last time trying this place. It's too bad because it is a very nice space but they just don't deliver."

  • "We ordered a pitcher of Sangria and had noted on the web site and told by our waitress it was a happy hour special. When we received our bill the Sangria was charged at regular price. We questioned our waitress and she graciously went to check with the bartender. The bartender told her that this was changed a couple of weeks ago and no longer was a part of happy hour. I felt as though we were mislead by both the website and staff. Several days later, the web site has still not been updated and states that pitchers of Sangria are $5 off during happy hour."

  • "First time at the Lazy Goat and I was very impressed! The food, atmosphere, cocktails...everything was wonderful!"

  • "Our reservation was honored with only a few minutes wait. There is not a bad table in the dining room, all have a wonderful view of the river and wooded trail. Our waitress greeted us warmly and explained the menu as this was our first visit. She was overly pushy to get us to commit to beverage and meal choices. The timing of each course was perfect. Our server checked with us often during the meal. Our food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The meat/cheese tray took me back to Rome and the Very Lazy Paella was the best. Toward the end of our meal our server kept refilling my wine glass, giving me the impression that I needed to hurry up. I noticed that most tables lingered over their meal which created a dining experience"

  • "We had lunch outside on a Saturday. The atmosphere and view are outstanding. My wife ordered the steak and I ordered the seafood special of the day. Both dishes were good, but not outstanding. For the price we expected larger portions. We were both actually still hungry when we left. The service was great, we just wish the serving portions would have been a little larger."

  • "Dining on the river, close to the downtown energy yet with a view of the river. Food always delicious, mediteranean inspiration, lamb burger excellent"

  • "This restaurant has a great location, full of windows, allowing views of the passersby while enjoying wine from the restaurant's great selection. I enjoyed the burrata -- if you haven't had it, try it! You'll never want to eat 'normal' mozzarella again. I also ordered the appetizer special, which was disappointing. The overall ambience made it for it, though. This was the exception, not the rule."

  • "We had a fabulous experience here, so nice to see a Mediterrean restaurant that doesn't have all the generic dishes on it. Our 6 year daughter loved the lamb app."

  • "A consistently great place to eat for all occasions..date night, pre-theatre dinner, or just a stroll by the river....stop here for great food and service! Occasional new menu items make it tempting to come back to see what's next. The graze and nibble menu is always a winner. The service is always professional and personable!!"

  • "Had great expectations, however the evening was time wasted. The service and management did try to apologize and rectify, however the Lazy Goat seems to be a forgotten child as it is now part a restaurant group. Original Chef and food passion missing."

  • " I love the Lazy Goat. Good food, ambiance, and just a fun place. My only "problem" if you will, is it is always loud. It is difficult to have a conversation."

  • "Had some quiet drinks at the bar. Met our friends for the meal. Gave us a table by the window as requested. Aaron was a great waiter. Roasted Brussel Sprouts were outstanding. Mussells were delicious and the Extra lazy Paella was great for sharing. Very scenic views. My wife and I have been twice (since we are not from Greenville and get there only occasionally for plays at the Peace Center) and both times were wonderful. We highly recommend the Lazy Goat."

  • "We had a large sampling of your small plates and all were excellent. My husband doesn't like brussel sprouts...but he liked yours! The cheeses and olives were yummy. Will come back during next visit to Greenville."

  • "I recently discovered this gem while traveling. It came to my attention from a write up in Esquire Magazine, and the experience did not disappoint. While the service was a little too slow for my tastes, the food was top notch. My friend and I split a field green salad, Brussels sprouts (minus the pork), and polenta cakes. Everything was fresh and tasty. I would order the polenta cakes again in a heartbeat--they were light and comforting, all at the same time. Beyond the food, the space is modern with organic industrial touches; the view of the river walk is very pleasant and people are definitely there to enjoy good food and company."

  • "Another great experience at the Goat. Very interesting menu, including the "build your own hors d'ouvres plate", picking different meats, cheeses, breads, etc. One in our party raved about the salmon. Kobe flank steak was just OK."

  • "Me and some friends went to the lazy goat to celebrate my birthday. We picked it because of the view but told ourselves we'd come back because of the food! I got the risotto and it was just beautiful! I will go back!"

  • "Lunch was lackimg in my ipinion. Pizza was good and bloody marys were great, but the sanwiches were less than yo be desired. Served wrapped in paper, they were very small and no garnish or side or anything. For the price paid ut was lacking. Ill stick to dinner from now on."

  • "When I booked he reservation I was hoping there would be a performance at the outdoor stage across from Lazy Goat so I asked for an outdoor table. When I learned later there was no show that evening, the hostess calling to confirm my reservation graciously changed to an indoor table for us."

  • "Wow! What a memorable and affordable way to celebrate our daughter's 28th birthday with family and friends. Lots of interesting dishes to share. And, also, when we didn't like one of the dishes, just our taste not the chef's fault, they insisted on bringing us a replacement dish! We have always enjoyed our meals here and will be back!!"

  • "Dinner at the Lazy Goat outside on the patio was great as always. What a great place to sit and see the beautiful sights and sounds of downtown Greenville as well as enjoy a great meal with some fantastic wine. The Lemon Cheesecake is the best I have ever had! Will return again and again!"

  • "The food was fantastic. Grilled Calamari: well grilled and the sauce was wonderful. Burrata: The mixture of cream and mozzarella was delicious. Add to this the slight bitterness of arugula and the combination was divine. Moroccan lamb: Talk about moist. This was probably one of the most delicious lamb shank dishes I've ever had. The meat was succulent and the sauce was the type of sauce that you ask for more bread for just to sop it all up! We had a grouper dish. Just wonderful and served with a bechamel sauce that was great. Dessert consisted of a creme brulé and tres leches. Both were OK. The only negative was that the restaurant was so loud that we couldn't enjoy a conversation at all. This was on a Wednesday night too."

  • "We enjoyed a late brunch with friends on Memorial Day. We dined on the patio overlooking the river. We could hear the laughter of children playing in the fountain below us. The weather was perfect, as was the pitcher of Sangria! My husband and I had the yellow fin tuna wrap as a salad, and it was amazing! Great flavors, texture and presentation! We recommended the lamb burger to one of our friends, and he thoroughly enjoyed it! We have to give kudos to our waiter, Drew! It was the end of a busy day and he was pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. Fabulous place to meet friends for a delicious bite or drink,"

  • "Everything was wonderful. We were quickly brought to our table with a view of the river. It was quiet when we arrived at 10pm. Our server was perfect, very friendly and told us tidbits about the restaurant. The food was perfect, right down to the French Press coffee. We'll be back, on another trip from Charlotte."

  • "Distracted and overwhelmed front of house, waiter who insisted on reciting the menu, good starters, very weak mains--I had the paella, where the secret ingredient was salt; my wife had the pasta "special" where everything was overcooked by half. Not special, and not worth returning to."

  • "Great for small group up for something out of the ordinary. Our group of four had a great time trying all the unique starter plates! "

  • "Have visited the Goat several times before; last Saturday the server seemed distracted (restaurant not packed); had to ask for water refill and tea refill; the "cup" of soup was a ramekin for 6$ The veggies that came w/the hummus were swimming in water on the plate. The lemon chicken was so over cooked my friend could barely cut it. Overall, doubt I will revisit...so many other options!"

  • "My husband and I ate at The Lazy Goat before going to a show at the Peace Center. We had eaten there once before. On that occasion we were just looking for a small bite so we only had one small plate. It was very good. This time we had an entire meal and everything was delicious. We had a cheese plate to start. Everything was yummy. We then had the Saffron Risotto and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Both were out of this world. As our main dish we had the Crispy Mediterranean Branzino. It was quite different but still very good. We finished the meal with the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee. So good! The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean and well established. A must do if you are in Greenville."
