Diner Reviews
  • "My daughter and I take an annual Mother/Daughter trip to New York City for a show and one special restaurant. We chose The Lamb's Club this year and will DEFINITELY choose it again! The service was fantastic, the food...I don't think there are enough words in the English language to describe the food! I have never had such a good-tasting, unique meal and with the regular menu changes, we will definitely not be waiting a year to go back. Comprehensive wine list and excellence from appetizer to dessert."

  • "Going to the Lambs Club was an absolute treat. It is often hit or miss with restaurants run by "celebrity chefs" but Geoffrey Zakarian's menu did not disappoint. Celery soup had wonderful texture and flavor, as did the butter lettuce salad. Pretzel bread was outstanding. The signature lamb was done perfectly as was the salmon. We had to run to the theater, or we would have had dessert! Next time..."

  • "Very disappointed in the service. Despite available tables in other locations for a party of 4, the hostess only offered us a table right in the entryway of the restaurant with the excuse that others had reserved those specific tables. Also, we were going the the theater, and told the server, but there was a very long delay between the appetizer and the main course. While they realized their responsibility by offering complimentary sides and desserts, they still caused us to gobble our food to make our curtain."

  • "The Lambs Club has a great feel to it. We have been there several times and previously the food and service has been fantastic. However, on this visit we were disappointed. The service was slow and the food was less than average."

  • "From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you will be completely satisfied. Food was everything and more than we were expecting!"

  • "Very "meh", as someone who considers myself a foodie i was excited about the intriguing ingredients and pairings and platings. But the dishes we had all were unbalanced - too many competing flavors, slightly odd textures etc. Just not so impressive. Truly annoyed over the grandiose show the waiter made of the fact that we had requested a substitution due to an allergy and the fact that chef "permitted" it. ugh."

  • "Quiet elegance and grace with excellent food and service. Good place for quiet conversation. But very expensive."

  • "more of an evening place. beautiful and sexy but prices kinda high for brunch for what you get."

  • "We live in Williamsburg, Virgina. We are deprived of restaurants that offer great food and service, consistently. It is so nice to escape to New York City, where we can find what we are paying for. We defiantly found what we were looking for at The Lamb Club!"

  • "The food was amazing, easily the best meal I've ever had. Cote de boeuf may be pricey but absolutely worth it! Our waiter John was great as well. Only thing that could have made it better would be a chance to meet GZ."

  • "Our server was so knowledgeable and attentive. I can't remember the last time I had such incredibly perfect service. The food was outstanding. Love the space too. Highly recommend!"

  • "My husband had the salmon with pork belly. Loved it. I ordered the amish chicken, it was fantastic with forbidden rice. Wow! We had two similar looking cocktails. I wanted another and the waiter came back with my husbands. He made no apologies and my husband said he would take it. No effort was made to address the mistake. We were charged for both which thought was not right. The chocolate creme brûlée was delicious. It as very expensive but was the best meal i've had in a long time. Service should have been tighter for the price and type of restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed our brunch at the Lambs Club. While I would have liked the 3 piece band to quiet their playing a bit, it was enjoyable to have live music during lunch."

  • "Had reservations for two for 7:15 on Saturday. We were excited to eat in this famous restaurant and were on time for our reservation. Upon arrival we were greeted by the Maitre D', who asked us to seat and wait. After 25 minutes we noticed we were not being seated. When I got up to ask what was going on with our table I noticed that not only there were plenty of tables available, but also that the Maitre and assistant were handing coats and not taking care of us or other people waiting for a table. We sat down 10 minutes later (~35 min after our arrival). I have NEVER experienced this in any other high-end restaurant in NYC. The food was good and the wine excellent; however, I doubt I'll go back because of the lack of good service"

  • "This is an art in fine dining. The staff fromfront to back makes the experience like the ambience. The glory days of the 40's. AND it is not pretentious. Quite a perfect mix."

  • "The restaurant is in the middle of the theater district and supposedly offers a pre-theater menu. Our reservation was for 6pm, we arrived at 6:05pm, and were told we couldn't order off of the pre-theater menu because it ends at 6pm. We let the waiter know we needed to leave at 7:30 to make our show, yet our entrees weren't served until 7:25pm. The service was incredibly slow and everyone seemed confused. They were not equipped to handle the busy pre-theater crowd on a Saturday night."

  • "My friend and I were seeing a show at 7pm so we didn't have a lot of time as we got there at 530. The wines by the glass are very high prices. Steak tar tar was really well done. Burrata we did not like at. We split the Dover sole but for $70 is was also very high priced for what you get. It was delicious. Waiter came over to take our orde but then was distracted the rest of the time. We finished our meal at 620 and we could hacs has coffee or share a dessert but he didn't come back till 640 so we had to leave. I think for the price it was not worth it. I am a huge fan of GZ so I'm sad that I am writing a less than stellar review."

  • "Given the OpenTable reviews, I was quite underwhelmed and embarassed.I was entertaining an notable out of town author for a pre theater quick meal. The tuna tartare looked enticing but had no taste. Chicken mediocre Bread was good Dessert fair Annoying wait staff, but he was able to to get us in and out in one hour. His suggestions for a quick meal were not accurate."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Lambs Club prior to a Broadway play. We enjoyed our dinner and the ambience of the place. And it is different (for the better) than your typical pre-theatre dinner. Service was great.. maybe a little over the top.. but still very good Our food was yummy, although some portions were on the small side (loin of lamb) but others were fine (winter greens salad + swordfish/pork belly."

  • "Went for Sunday brunch. The Bianco Martinis were playing smooth jazz. The copious amounts of red leather and thoughtful lighting give the room a vintage feel. Frank Sinatra could have walked in and felt right at home. The room is comfortable. Tables have a generous amount of room between them. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. Although our table was 8 feet from the band, the noise level was low. The food was prepared well and was imaginative. I had the mushroom, chard, and gruyere omelet - my wife the apple stuffed French toast. They even warmed up the cream for my coffee. This was the best experience we have had in a New York restaurant in a while. We will definitely be regulars."

  • "When we are looking for someplace special in the forties theater district, we always seem to return to the Lambs Club. The setting is lovely, especially in the cold weather with the fireplace going; the menu always has something unexpected but delicious, and the service is professional and friendly. Our latest visit, on Saturday night, was the best so far."

  • "I took my daughter here for brunch and it exceeded my expectations. The trio was a pleasant surprise and they were outstanding. The food was exceptional, I'm still craving the frittata I had that day. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Was disappointed this time. Saturday nights dinner was a let down. The food was just not as well prepared as my last dinner here. Food seems to have 'slipped' in quality and presentation. I'll try again in six months."

  • "Impeccable from start to finish. Even met Geoffrey Zakarian while dining there, the mastermind behind it all. Exceptional."

  • "There are so many great restaurants in NY,skip this. Went for pre theater. Service was brisk. Food was ok, nothing special. What was a total shock was that there were NO reasonably priced wine options. Many business types loudly "dealing" so I assume the wine prices were absorbed."

  • "We had the pre-theater menu and feel we found a gem. Service was spot on. Food delicious. Dessert was less wonderful . Beautiful room, with the fire roaring on a chilly winter night."

  • "Our waiter, John, was excellent. He was helpful in helping us make decisions and his recommendations were perfect. We can't wait to visit again when in NYC. The Lambs Club is in our top five restaurants we have had the pleasure of dining."

  • "Kudos to Geoffrey Zakarian and the team at The Lambs Club. We bought tickets for a Broadway matinee for my daughter's 11th birthday, then went looking for a nearby restaurant. She was familiar with Chef Zakarian from Chopped and Iron Chef, and we were pleased to find The Lambs Club within blocks of the theater district. Service was outstanding; and the food was spectacular - a brunch menu with many options to please both parents and kids. We have a new favorite in NYC!"

  • "Our brunch was wonderful - I had the Nicoise salad ans it was a bit light but delicious. I am gluten soy and dairy free and they even had bread to accommodate - a very nice touch. There was a fabulous quartet playing jazz - the soprano singer was fabulous. It was the perfect volume - even with the music you could have quiet conversation. It is always a pleasurable pre-theater experience. I highnly recommend it."

  • "Overcooked pork and rubbery fish are not what one expects of a restaurant with a chef/owner of this caliber. Really sad and because we were pre-theatre there was no time left to get our meal. While the waiter tried to make it right and we were not charged, we did not go there to assess how the staff handled a problem, we went there to enjoy a meal and instead left for our show hungry. We'll not return."

  • "I would suggest this restaurant for celebrating a special occasion or just to flat out spoil someone you love. The ambience does not get any better in the city of New York. I've dined and I've looked, this is it people. This is the top for over all dining experience. Mind you, this does come with a sizable price tag. From the moment you arrive at the reception station to when you are fed and your coat is gently placed on your back to re-enter city life you can expect to be very well looked after. My husband and I are so taken with their food and the service of the staff that we are hosting our Northeast Wedding Reception Dinner here in April. So impressed, cannot wait!"
