Diner Reviews
  • "On an Iron Chef tour, we chose Jeff Zakarian's Lamb's Club. They seated us on the Mezzanine ( not by request) & handed us a limited menu. We asked for a full menu & the "manager approved our request". We shared the hamachi crudo- delectable, with a light lime flavor, a roasted carrot salad & the lamb entree. While the preparation was beautiful & tasty, the lamb itself was poorly butchered, a bit tough & tasteless. The carrot salad was also tasteless. The wait staff was attentive & pleasant, the space was attractive & it was easy to converse. The cab by the glass was Merryvale- which was divine! Overall a pleasant evening, but had higher hopes for the food."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere, cocktails, and menu. Surprisingly quiet early on a Saturday."

  • "Great for Restaurant week. Bread were fine. Close to Belasco theater."

  • "Unlike many reviews, the service was nice maybe because there were only 2 tables during lunch time. My colleague and I went for restaurant week lunch. It was so empty. The food was not as extraordinary as I expected and my duck was quite salty."

  • "Lovely, sleek setting with excellent food, creative menu items, good service and drinks. Pricey, so Restaurant Week is a good deal."

  • "The Lambs Club was decent but wasn't what I expected. The staff was friendly and the food was ok, but nothing to comment on. We were seated on the upper level which is more casual than what we wanted for dinner, it's more of a bar/small plates scene. (But be warned, the drinks are very expensive.) Apparently the lower level doesn't open until later in the evening? Also, I know the atmosphere was going for vintage modern but it just felt old to me. I was expecting something more upscale based on what I saw online."

  • "We ate lunch at The Lamb's Club Bar for my SO's birthday. We went with the Restaurant Week menu, and the choices were fairly limited but ultimately proved delicious. I had the celery root soup that was poured tableside and it was the best soup I've ever eaten. I had the cod as an entrée and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the pomegranates on the side added just the right amount of flavor. We had the charred broccoli as a side ($9 extra), which was the only thing I wasn't completely crazy about. Chocolate flourless cake was our chosen desert and it was very good. The service was great and the décor is beautiful. We will definitely go back!"

  • "We loved the ambience and small plates upstairs on a wintry Friday evening. The cheeses, veal meatballs, cocktails and deserts were all wonderful! Pricey if you're not used to Manhattan."

  • "Climbing the stairs to the Lambs Club Bar,music is what you'll notice first- not the very clubby, well-appointed "1930's-ish" decor. That won't cease unless you ask nicely, as we did this Friday evening pre-theater, for a lowered volume to the "soundtrack" of after-work cocktail groups around the room. Definitely not the venue for "low talkers" and the hard-of-hearing, the food is well-presented and, overall, delicious; service is slow-an overassigned/undermanned wait staff handles duties with grace and professional carriage. Even with Restaurant Week, our table of four racked up a $300 bill (finding a relatively inexpensive bordeaux for $55 in an extensive wine list) Portions are small, and there's the $5 cup of coffee at the end. Really?"

  • "The music max in the Bar level was great but consider a lower sound level"

  • "Outstanding menu, and great decor, but if you expect service for your $$$$$ meal, go somewhere else."

  • "We sat in the bar area, which I often prefer, and it was perfect. It seemed a bit more casual than the restaurant part downstairs. The menu was very unique and everything we ordered was delicious from cocktails through dessert."

  • "Went there pre theatre with someone who was there many years ago. The decor and ambiance were great. The menu was lovely and well executed. The service was just a little snooty."

  • "It was like dining in a Baz Luhrmann film. Lots of red lights with beautiful art deco rooms and a few modern highlights. The food was quite good, although overshadowed by the ridiculous overprice, and the service was very good. (No vegetables or starch with the fish dish? It was one big hunk of protein and a little bit of sauce...sides were extra. I dine in NYC a lot but this was too much.) The music was very loud, and it was an odd mix of Beyonce-esque rap and modern and Van Morrison. Dine there to see the interior or for a drink at the bar before or after an event, but don't eat there. I would like to try the main dining room once but I'm sure it will also be way overpriced given the quality of the meal."

  • "First, the good news. The food at the Lambs Club Bar is outstanding. It's delicious and distinctive. The decor is very impressive. You feel like you are in the middle of a glamorous '40s movie. All of the staff who we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Now, the bad news. On the recent Saturday night that my husband and I dined there, the Lambs Club Bar was terribly understaffed. There only seemed to be one bus person and two waitresses. The manager and host helped out but there just weren't enough staffers to adequately serve the nearly full room. Our water glasses were not refilled the entire time that we were there. One patron actually followed one of the two waitresses around and almost dragged her to his table to take their order."

  • "Every time I've gone to The Lambs Club-Bar I've had a most pleasing experience. The drinks, atmosphere and great food are the perfect accompaniment to spending time with someone special or a group of friends. The service is outstanding."

  • "Good food. VERY slow service. Love the ambiance. Front of house needs to get its act together, and fast, or nothing else matters."

  • "Went for my Dad's 92nd birthday with theater across the street. Food was fabulous and pre fixe theater menu a great deal. Chef Zakarian was even there. My Dad can't eat salt and they modified his dinner to accommodate him."

  • "over priced waste of time. go to a restaurant that care more about the feeding you than looking and acting cool. I would not go back and would not recommend this place."

  • "Food was excellent, but the service was slow and a bit disorganized. It look quite a while to get our drinks."

  • "We were seated upstairs in the bar area. Perhaps we needed to specify a nicer table downstairs, rather than a small bar table. Overall, not very impressive. My chicken was dry, limited menu, not up to par as far as a "nice" manhattan dinner. Oh well, it was convenient for theater. Would not return."

  • "For whatever reason, when we arrived at 5:30 for pre-theater dinner, we were seated in the 2nd floor "mezzanine" area (aka the bar). If there are other patrons present, the bar may not feel like an airport lounge, but it was empty. So what was supposed to feel like an elegant dinner felt like quick snacks before a flight. That said, the food was really very good. And the service was quick and friendly. But I honestly don't know if I would recommend this to a friend, and I can't decide if it was a hot spot, romantic, etc. Whatever you do, request the dining room downstairs. I made the reservations months ago, so I'm not sure why we were shuttled to the annex, but it was not a great experience."

  • "The atmosphere and seating were excellent. Felt like a private club. The food was so-so. I liken it to going to foreign country, recognizing some favorite dishes on the menu but when fork meets mouth, you realize 'oh, wait. Not the same dish at all.' I was there on business and our server was very short and quite unpleasant. This is never a comfortable feeling when you're entertaining clients. Would go back for drinks only."

  • "I've walked down itsstreet hundreds of times, but I'd never heard of Lamb's Club until I saw it on the Restaurant Week list. What a fantastic find! The clubby atmosphere felt very exclusive, but the service could not have been friendlier or more solicitious. While most restaurants offer poor service and aggressive upselling during Restaurant Week, Lamb's Club made us feel like valued customers. This will be my new go-to place for pre-theater drinks, and I would happily return to pay full price for dinner. I ate the burrata, a heavenly duck confit, and an absolutely delicious chocolate mousse on top of a high-end, Kit-Kat-like crust that I just can't forget. The wine paring of Gavi, Sangiovese, and Port that went with it was perfect."

  • "Loved it and definitely will return. The restaurant week menu was sensational; portions were ample. Our server, Henry, was outstanding. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. His recommendations were spot on!"
