Diner Reviews
  • "Enjoyed the drinks and dinner. Our appetizers showed up before our bottle of wine - but the food was really, really good."

  • "We were six and the table was set for four. Took one hour for our appetizers to arrive. Tables were not wiped down after entree and before dessert was served. Food was uniformly very good to excellent. Service was pleasant but very disjointed."

  • "The quiet classy ambience of the Lambs Club Bar was such a relief to the noisy crowds of summer in the city. Food was outstanding and service was impeccable."

  • "Packed during the week, we were delightfully surprised to have a near private dining experience at 8pm on a Saturday, before heading to the 10pm Hedwig showing. Gracious, humored, pleasant and accommodating, the staff - from the bartender in training to the hostess - were an unexpectedly delicious part of the evening... as was the amazing tomato tasting menu!"

  • "The food is outstanding. Absolutely delicious. We asked for the Restaurant Week menu and therefore had to sit in the bar. I HATE loud music when I'm eating (guess I'm in the minoirty), but even for a bar, this was excessively loud. Had to shout at each other across a small table. Somehow, this is not my idea for a fine dining experience. I will go again because of the food and the absolutely beautiful art deco decor. Except for the noise, very comfortable."

  • "We arrived early and sat at the bar to have a couple of drinks before dinner. The bar staff and drinks were both excellent. However when we sat down to dinner it was a different story. First we were not given RW menus and had to specifically ask for them, that took over 15mins as no one came to check on us. It took even longer before we could order as no one was attending to us. There was no consistent member of staff serving us and each one seemed surly and disinterested. We ordered another glass of wine that we had at the bar and it came in in much smaller glassware and was probably only 2/3rds of the size of the one received at the bar for the same price. The food was ok but not exceptional"

  • "I made a reservation for a party of three for a pre-theatre dinner during restaurant week. I confirmed the reservation the day before, mentioning that we had theatre tickets. My party arrived on-time only to be told they did not have a table ready. I reminded them that we had theatre tickets and a reservation and checked in with the completely apathetic host staff three times over the course of twenty minutes before we were finally seated. Thankfully, while waiting, we had taken a look at the menu and were prepared to order the second we sat down. We were rather pressed for time, however, which made the entire dining experience incredibly unpleasant. The food was delicious. But difficult to enjoy when rushed."

  • "We went for dinner on a Monday night, when it seemed unusally quiet. The room is beautiful and tables spaced nicely apart. We dined off the restaurant week menu, which was limited but very good (of course, it was not offered to us until we asked for it even though we made the reservation through restaurant week). I had the arugula and pear salad and cod, both of which were excellent. And the chocolate dessert was very good (a bit unique). Be warned that the regular menu is very expensive, which means items like cocktails and/or wine are as well."

  • "The slow service took away from the nice atmosphere & gourmet food offerings. Wait staff changed and they did not communicate requests that had been made upon seating for checks to be split."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "The bar has lovely ambiance. Especially like the big windows. Understand they have jazz on Tuesday nights and definitely want to try it. The food was good and the service was friendly. Would like to go back and try the regular restaurant."

  • "This restaurant speaks to quality, class and impeccable attention to detail!!"

  • "Have been meaning to visit so decided to try for Restaurant Week. Slightly awkward from the start with positioning of hostess stand. It obstructs the entrance for guests, entrance of food delivery and end of bar, therefore we were in many people's way while waiting to be seated. We were not seated for a while. Items on RW menu decent but vegetarian substitutes we requested were disappointing - butter pasta with a medley of vegetables lacking in salt, herbs and flavor. I'd expect more creativity & flavor from a renown restaurant. The core of my unpleasant experience was the service, however. 2 of 3 courses were simply plopped in front of us, requiring us to pass appetizers & entrees to the rightful diner. One plus, beautiful live jazz band."

  • "The Lambs Club Bar is a gorgeous art deco bar in Midtown. When I visited for the first time last year, it was considerably more quiet and the service was more attentive. The food is quite good, but you're really paying for the ambiance."

  • "Fantastic art deco decor. Mediocre food (except the lamb meatballs, delicious!), great drinks, & very good service. There honestly weren't many people in the bar although our server was a little difficult to flag down she was exceedingly friendly when we were successful. I suggest you sit at the bar and have a drink but go across the street to Un, Deux, Trois for food"

  • "Made a reservation in the Bar and were up-sold upon entering to their main dining room. I suspect the Bar would have had a little higher energy and perhaps a lower tab(?). Service was quite slow."

  • "As the old joke goes the food was bad and the portions small ! The prices can't be justified Lovely place and the staff was nice if you serve a well done hamburger (!6 oz and $22.) instead of medium rare as requested you should hire a new cook. the place was empty except for 6 patrons Friday night. "

  • "This was a very attractive bar room in a very beautiful hotel with windows looking down on 44th St. The waitstaff was very attentive. They make great and generous Manhattans in nice glasses and with solid, clear ice. We enjoyed our burgers before heading off to a play. Most of the theaters are within easy walking distance, so this bar would also be great after a play."

  • "On an Iron Chef tour, we chose Jeff Zakarian's Lamb's Club. They seated us on the Mezzanine ( not by request) & handed us a limited menu. We asked for a full menu & the "manager approved our request". We shared the hamachi crudo- delectable, with a light lime flavor, a roasted carrot salad & the lamb entree. While the preparation was beautiful & tasty, the lamb itself was poorly butchered, a bit tough & tasteless. The carrot salad was also tasteless. The wait staff was attentive & pleasant, the space was attractive & it was easy to converse. The cab by the glass was Merryvale- which was divine! Overall a pleasant evening, but had higher hopes for the food."

  • "Unlike many reviews, the service was nice maybe because there were only 2 tables during lunch time. My colleague and I went for restaurant week lunch. It was so empty. The food was not as extraordinary as I expected and my duck was quite salty."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "Lovely, sleek setting with excellent food, creative menu items, good service and drinks. Pricey, so Restaurant Week is a good deal."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "The Lambs Club was decent but wasn't what I expected. The staff was friendly and the food was ok, but nothing to comment on. We were seated on the upper level which is more casual than what we wanted for dinner, it's more of a bar/small plates scene. (But be warned, the drinks are very expensive.) Apparently the lower level doesn't open until later in the evening? Also, I know the atmosphere was going for vintage modern but it just felt old to me. I was expecting something more upscale based on what I saw online."

  • "We ate lunch at The Lamb's Club Bar for my SO's birthday. We went with the Restaurant Week menu, and the choices were fairly limited but ultimately proved delicious. I had the celery root soup that was poured tableside and it was the best soup I've ever eaten. I had the cod as an entrée and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the pomegranates on the side added just the right amount of flavor. We had the charred broccoli as a side ($9 extra), which was the only thing I wasn't completely crazy about. Chocolate flourless cake was our chosen desert and it was very good. The service was great and the décor is beautiful. We will definitely go back!"

  • "We loved the ambience and small plates upstairs on a wintry Friday evening. The cheeses, veal meatballs, cocktails and deserts were all wonderful! Pricey if you're not used to Manhattan."

  • "Climbing the stairs to the Lambs Club Bar,music is what you'll notice first- not the very clubby, well-appointed "1930's-ish" decor. That won't cease unless you ask nicely, as we did this Friday evening pre-theater, for a lowered volume to the "soundtrack" of after-work cocktail groups around the room. Definitely not the venue for "low talkers" and the hard-of-hearing, the food is well-presented and, overall, delicious; service is slow-an overassigned/undermanned wait staff handles duties with grace and professional carriage. Even with Restaurant Week, our table of four racked up a $300 bill (finding a relatively inexpensive bordeaux for $55 in an extensive wine list) Portions are small, and there's the $5 cup of coffee at the end. Really?"

  • "The music max in the Bar level was great but consider a lower sound level"

  • "Outstanding menu, and great decor, but if you expect service for your $$$$$ meal, go somewhere else."
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "We sat in the bar area, which I often prefer, and it was perfect. It seemed a bit more casual than the restaurant part downstairs. The menu was very unique and everything we ordered was delicious from cocktails through dessert."

  • "It was like dining in a Baz Luhrmann film. Lots of red lights with beautiful art deco rooms and a few modern highlights. The food was quite good, although overshadowed by the ridiculous overprice, and the service was very good. (No vegetables or starch with the fish dish? It was one big hunk of protein and a little bit of sauce...sides were extra. I dine in NYC a lot but this was too much.) The music was very loud, and it was an odd mix of Beyonce-esque rap and modern and Van Morrison. Dine there to see the interior or for a drink at the bar before or after an event, but don't eat there. I would like to try the main dining room once but I'm sure it will also be way overpriced given the quality of the meal."

  • "Every time I've gone to The Lambs Club-Bar I've had a most pleasing experience. The drinks, atmosphere and great food are the perfect accompaniment to spending time with someone special or a group of friends. The service is outstanding."

  • "Good food. VERY slow service. Love the ambiance. Front of house needs to get its act together, and fast, or nothing else matters."

  • "First, the good news. The food at the Lambs Club Bar is outstanding. It's delicious and distinctive. The decor is very impressive. You feel like you are in the middle of a glamorous '40s movie. All of the staff who we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Now, the bad news. On the recent Saturday night that my husband and I dined there, the Lambs Club Bar was terribly understaffed. There only seemed to be one bus person and two waitresses. The manager and host helped out but there just weren't enough staffers to adequately serve the nearly full room. Our water glasses were not refilled the entire time that we were there. One patron actually followed one of the two waitresses around and almost dragged her to his table to take their order."

  • "Went for my Dad's 92nd birthday with theater across the street. Food was fabulous and pre fixe theater menu a great deal. Chef Zakarian was even there. My Dad can't eat salt and they modified his dinner to accommodate him."

  • "over priced waste of time. go to a restaurant that care more about the feeding you than looking and acting cool. I would not go back and would not recommend this place."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "Food was excellent, but the service was slow and a bit disorganized. It look quite a while to get our drinks."
    Dined on 11/8/2013
  • "We were seated upstairs in the bar area. Perhaps we needed to specify a nicer table downstairs, rather than a small bar table. Overall, not very impressive. My chicken was dry, limited menu, not up to par as far as a "nice" manhattan dinner. Oh well, it was convenient for theater. Would not return."
