The Kitchen RestaurantThis is not just dinner itThis is not just dinner it is a night of entertainment Randy Selland owner and host and staff tell stories give cooking lessons and treat you like you were in a kitchen at a friends house that is a great cook. This fixed price meal for June had the best salmon all of us had ever tasted. The salad with its fresh ingredients was dressed so the freshness was enhanced. All the five courses were notable. We had people in our party with food allergies and the dishes made for them were just as well done. Be prepared to spend three to four hours there with breaks in the lovely garden area6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRandall is backAt least fro now. Waht a great show and a great dinner.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experienceThis was a true dining EXPERIENCE. People compare the food and service to some of the top tier restaurants like French Laundry and then come away saying that the Kitchen isn't on the same tier. And while some of that may be true, the Kitchen still ranks as one of the best dining experiences I have ever (and yes, I have been to some nice restaurants including French Laundry). The food is nothing to laugh about either. Inventive dishes with plenty to go around. It may be one of the more expensive meals in Sacramento, but the value is exceptional. Chef Selland was fortunately moderating/entertatining for the evening (note: I don't think this will be common when he finds a replacement head chef) so that was an extra bonus.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMONCE IN A LIFETIME TREAT!I booked my reservation nearly five months in advance for my husband's 45th Birthday celebration. We drove more than two hours, and stayed in a Hotel for this, literally, once in a lifetime event. Every second spent on this incredible event was worth it. The presentation was fantastic, the food was by far the most unique and {ok most expensive} I've ever had in my entire life. That being said, this will be held as one of my most memorable experiences I've ever had in a restaurant - EVER. My absolute favorite part was the fresh salmon which later became our sashimi, sushi and then a salmon dinner course ... I can not begin to explain how good this was - it was beyond good! The wine flight was a fantastic option - we loved the Kitchen!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceIt was a fabulous dining experience. It was like being at a Iron Chef competition with only the winning team present.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA family momentWhen your kids are grown your "family moments" are scarce compared to when they are little. Celebrating our sons' 26th & 28th birthdays as well as our 29th anniversary in May was perfection at The Kitchen! My wife and I and our sons’ will always cherish this fantastic night of incredible food and lively entertainment by Chief Randall and flawless staff. This restaurant is by far the best place I have ever eaten from coast to coast and country to country. Watching my sons' only pick up their iPhones to take pictures of our family, the food preparation and to capture every moment in the gem was bliss. Thank you to all who allowed our family to share your restaurant and experience a rare family moment which will be etched in our minds forever!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great 4 Hours Well SpentThe evening was fun and delicious from the opening at 5 'till we left at 9. Every course was presented with a great introduction by Randall or one of his chefs. Eating was fun, quiet enough to be able to talk to our fellow diners while having enough background conversations to make the whole place reflect the enjoyment going on around us. Every course was a delight. The most EXCITING part of the evening was when a diner and Randall just about took off their eyebrows with a major flaming off of a goodly amount of my favorite Whiskey, Makers Mark! I have it all on video - great watching it over again and again. It was a relief, though, that nothing beyond a rather large ball of flame occurred. All in all, a great evening.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMopinionEverything was wonderful. However, I think the sushi course needed more food. When we went outside, most of the food was gone.
Otherwise,I loved sitting at the demonstration ? table and watch all the activity. Hope to return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDining experienceThe Kitchenis truly a dining experience with wonderful food and atmosphere.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMonce in a lifetime experience!!!Very entertaining and incredibly delectable tastes!!!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA super "show"It's all about the "show", which was superb. Very pricey. Our bill was $453 for two of us sharing one wine flight. For those who love food and are at least interested in it's preparation, this is an experience to enjoy at least once. We were surrounded by those who come with some regularity. We won't be doing that, but will consider giving it as a gift (as was done for us) or taking guests who we know would enjoy it. And we'd certainly recommend it to other foodies.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMmy wife and I had a great time!what a beautiful experience my wife and I had at the kitchen for my wife's birthday, too bad we have to leave early.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMost enjoyable meal you'llMost enjoyable meal you'll ever have. Both food and ambience are unparalleled.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at The KitchenFirst time at The Kitchen and I found every dish to be superlative and service had an impeccable attention to detail. All the dishes is enthusiastically explained and it is clear anyone working there has a real passion for what they do.
"I am easily satisfied by the best" as Churchill once said.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Kitchen isn't just a restaurantThe Kitchen isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. Don't go to expect a nice meal and go home. Plan to spend 4 hours experiencing amazing cuisine and go home happier than if you were at Disneyland. (Can you tell we loved it?)4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI've only had better foodI've only had better food one other time in my life, that was the last time I was at the Kitchen. Last time the food was amazing, this time it was only outstanding. The detail that they put into each dish is amazing. The service is excelent. The price reflects the service and food. My girlfrind and I got the wine fight. She isn't a really big drinker, so this was not worth the $85. Next time I'll get the wine flight and we can share. And yes, there will be a next time. Hands down, the best food I've ever had.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the experience! If youLoved the experience! If you want to learn about food, try new food and/or be apart of the kitchen experience...this is the place to visit. Staff was energetic, knowledgeable and friendly. Can't wait to go again!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHands-down best dining experienceThe Kitchen was an absolutely remarkable experience! I was fortunate enough to also dine at the French Laundry in Yountville earlier in the week, and I considered it my most memorable dining experience. This accolade lasted all of four days, as The Kitchen's experience eclipsed it. The food was creative, fresh, and fantastic, and I thoroughly appreciated the attention to detail in every respect. Chef Randall was most entertaining, and the theatrical theme was quite appropriate. The sushi/sashimi (with genuine wasabi) during intermission was the best I've ever had. I loved how you are able to go pretty much anywhere in the restaurant at any time- we felt very welcomed. All in all, an experience I will be sure to repeat again!1/1/0001 4:00:00 PMThe chef was the most personable,The chef was the most personable, open and friendly individual I have met in a LONG time. His wit and interaction with the diners was a major reason this was such a great experience. The food was excellent.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
