Diner Reviews
  • "Our second visit was disapointing. The menu had not changed with theseason, the food was over salted nd the service slow."

  • "If you are looking for great food from great people then The Kitchen is a must dine. The staff was very friendly and professional. When we had questions about the food on the menu, our server was very knowledgable and helpful in describing where our food came from. The Kitchen really brings farms and people together for magnificent food and drinks. "

  • "We couldn't have picked a better restaurant to celebrate 6 years of marriage. The service was friendly and insightful. Great food and drink recommendations. The atmosphere was energetic and fun. The food was out of this world. Our seafood entree was just right. Celebratory after dinner champagne was on the house!"

  • "The Duck Confit was wonderful, better than the one we had at Z cuisine a few months ago. The goat gouda gougere was disappointing. Wasn't sure what to expect, but got about 6 balls of dough that had some goat cheese mixed in with it- had been hoping for a ball of goat cheese melted in the middle. Needed a sauce or something and really should be an appetizer to share, not for one person- too much of one thing. The cherry/almond tart was to die for!"

  • "The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. The ingredients were fresh. Indefinitely recommend this place."

  • "Yes, the food is amazing and the service is great, but the icing on the cake for me is the interior design and how it impacts one's overall dining experience. I love the look and feel of the space so much that I renovated my kitchen based on The Kitchen's whole design concept. Bravo!"

  • "We tried the pig ears but weren't huge fans. The duck confit and scallops were excellent but not the best I've had. Overall though the food and service were great."

  • "Not my favorite restaurant. Nothing bad, but didn't meet my type of place. We went there to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. It was suggested by a friend. It seemed pretentious, and over priced for the quality. It felt like it was for the young professional single crowd. I doubt I will go back."

  • "Food was great, service was weak. Waiter and hostesses rude and inattentive."

  • "Great food, service and ambiance. Will definitely go back again."

  • "I loved my lamb burger which was perfectly done but my guest- not an adventurous eater- ( and who I found out does not eat salt-ever) thought there was too much on the fries and scraped it off the bun. Perhaps a description of the bun or a choice of buns?"

  • "The Kitchen Denver is consistently good. We had a delicious lunch."

  • "Great food and great service - enjoyed my experience at this location better than the one in Boulder, I like the big bar with lots of room to move around. Beautiful space and delicious food to match! Will definitely return to dine soon!"

  • "We moved from Boston to Denver three years ago and have dined at pretty much all the "cool" and highly rated restaurants around Denver. We missed the fun, eclectic, and exciting foods we found at restaurants in Boston, but The Kitchen filled that void the other night. We had fantastic martinis and cocktails, a dozen Island Creek Oysters (our favorite), the pickled sardine, pigs ears (amazing!), and the special of the night a duck egg on top of toast spread with lardon and sauteed greens. We thoroughly enjoyed everything! We will be returning again for dinner and the happy hour, which had great discounts on lots of their small plates, seafood, and drinks."

  • "My son introduced me to The Kitchen in Boulder several years ago - both are outstanding. The Denver location is closer and has become a favorite - the food and staff are both 5 star. They make dinning out a real pleasure."

  • "Took my wife there for our Anniversary dinner. The food, drinks and service were excellant. It was a loud in the resturant, but overall our experience was great!"

  • "Definitely a great spot to stop after an evening on the 16th St Mall. A lively crowd on Friday night created an atmosphere of privacy-via-din but never got annoying loud, for my taste. Food was a bit on the eclectic side, but delicious and expertly prepared. I got the chicken, and the seasoning wasn't at all what i expected, but I finished every bite. The wife got the ribeye and loved it. Exhaustive beer list, exhaustive wine list, we didn't dabble in cocktails on this particular night. Parking may take some extra time, so arrive early and try to secure street parking (metered)."

  • "This was a wonderful place to celebrate with friends! Wonderful food and impeccable service."

  • "Decided to check out The Kitchen during their special anniversary deal. Let me say this was my first time and I'm looking forward to going back. The food and service was amazing! The Ambience was great and very different than what I expected based on their website. This restaurant is a must try!!"

  • "My friend and I both have food allergies, and our waitress was so gracious in dealing with them. Ordering can be complicated, but Sascha (I think that's how her name was spelled) was never flustered, annoyed, or anything but helpful and delightful. We had a great evening and wonderful dinner."

  • "I love this city/industrial chic eatery. The menu has choices for everyone with a delicious little twist that sets it apart from the everyday. Love the lamb burger with its crispy fries!"

  • "We ate here about 6 months ago when we were last in Denver. We liked it so much we came again the next time we were in town. Same manager who remembered us. Same great food and atmosphere."

  • "Went with a group of four for the anniversary dinner. The service was great, the food was great and the spot is awesome."

  • "Attended their 10th anniversary, which consisted of a special menu. We were expecting top of the line cuisine and what we received was unseasoned dishes. We were hoping that some salt and pepper were on the table. For a first time at this restaurant, we were very disappointed and will not be returning."

  • "Everything about The Kitchen Denver is well done, exceeding expectations. Attention to detail is insanely good. There isn't a more comfortable restaurant in town, I would order anything off the menu and not wonder for a second whether it would satisfy."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "Went for a friends birthday and will definitely go back for other special occasions. The food was amazing, the wait staff and somalier were very knowledgeable. Not one thing about the evening was a disappointment."

  • "Ambience and location are first rate. The servers were wonderful and friendly. The pig's ears and oysters for starters were also first rate. But the leak and potato soup was mostly cream and it was served lukewarm. I think a restaurant's soups are reliable indicators of the quality of the kitchen, and so it was in this case. The trout on lentils and the wheatberry dishes were also served lukewarm. The wheatberry dish was also too sour and tasted like a leftover you'd fix at home with some hot sauce. The cassoulet was served hot, but it was very dry and didn't have the slow-cooked consistency of a cassoulet. There were three of us and we all agreed that we wouldn't recommend The Kitchen - Denver."

  • "This was probably our fifth or sixth time at The Kitchen. Quality of food is consistently high. Fresh seafood is a real plus. Love the smoked mussels with a hint of chili for a little kick without losing the taste of the seafood. Wine list is excellent and waitstaff were knowledgeable and helpful in pairing. The scallops were outstanding. Loved the lamb burger too: herbs were perfect. Staff seemed a little stressed/distracted on the latest Friday night that we were there, but still did a very good job of timely service and adjusting to our wish to slow the pace between appetizers and main. We will definitely keep this restaurant on our list for downtown dining."

  • "This was my second time at the Kitchen. The food was excellent - I had the quiche both times and each was differently delicious. We were down near the bar this time, and it was pretty noisy. My friends both had the pulled pork sandwich, which looked wonderful. We shared an apple crisp that was fabulous - biscuit dough top with tart apples with just the right caramelly sauce underneath. It was a great lunch."

  • "Just had another fabulous experience at The Kitchen. We went for lunch to celebrate my upcoming move and it was wonderful. Definitely makes it hard to leave this area. I live in Boulder and frequent The Kitchen and The Kitchen Upstairs, which I just love. The Denver location did not disappoint either and it is amazing how the owners can keep such high quality food, service, ambience alt all of their locations. Kudos to them and Boulder and Denver are lucky to have you. I hope I can find something as good in Boston!"

  • "We are from New York City and this is a great restaurant - could be put up there with any of our top restaurants. The scallop entree is worthy of Daniel. Wines by the glass are just ok - would have liked some better wines. But all the food was great, including oysters!"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "Food was too simple and too salty for the price. I can cook that type of rustic fare. Beets were undercooked. Two of four entrees were too salty. Just heard a friend agreed (not in our party and had same experience). Wondering how they have the reputation- maybe Boulder is better? Won't be back to spend money there."

  • "Have been to the Kitchen in Denver twice now. It's a good location and vibrant bar spot at happy hour. The beer list is extensive and the cocktails are inventive, another plus. The service is good but could use some polishing. It's like they don't quite hear or understand what you're asking for- maybe a down side of the ambient noise overflowing from the bar area? I don't like a lot of salt on my food and both times we've been here the salt has been heavy-handed. Mashed potatoes and side of greens don't need a ton of salt. I like a good medium rare steak. I even asked the server for their definition of medium rare. It came out well-done. A disappointment. I'd try this place again, but maybe just for happy hour, not dinner."

  • "I took my mom here during restaurant week. Niether of us ordered off the restaurant week menu though. The oysters were so good and the waitress was helpful at describing the different types of oysters so even for new oyster lovers, it was easy to make a choice of what to order. The food was all delicious and the desserts were also amazing. I would have liked our server to be a little more attentive; it was late and my mom had just gotten of a plane so stretching dinner out by not having our order taken promplty was a bit of a downer. I'd definitly go back here- hopefully they're consistent!"
