Welcome to The Kirkland Tap & Trotter Our food is simple, hearty and approachable. It is how Chef Maws cooks at home for friends and family. At the center of the kitchen is our hardwood grill where you can find us cooking up any of our options to share as well as other grilled fare. Tony has designed an affordable menu, making it easy to eat here often. Keeping with the theme of The Kirkland Tap & Trotter being an every night of the week establishment, beverage choices will also be representative of things we like to drink. We invite you to drop by after work to try something from our expansive beer list, a straight forward and delicious cocktail or one of our many wines by the glass with our usual preference toward wines with a bit of funk.   • "My husbands and I enjoyed a great meal together on a random Sunday night. I had the cheese burger beer combo and he had the 3 coarse menu. The burger was literally perfect!!! His 3 coarse started with a whole wheat pasta containing peas, fava beans and other seasonal extras, it was dilish and each flavor showed through. The meal ended with the oatmeal chocolate ice cream sandwich and a great espresso. We could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. Matt the waiter was wonderful, he was attentive and knowledgeable. We will for sure be coming bake and I will be recommending to friends family and clients!!!"

  • "My fiancee and I went here this past Friday. We had a seven p.m. reservation but arrived 45 minutes early (woops). Luckily they had free apps in the bar area until 6:30 and a great drink/beer/wine list! The steak brochette was amazing, tender and very delicious, and the duck was cooked perfectly. I'd definitely recommend this place and will return!"

  • "Dinner with my 23 yr old foodie son,just wonderful! Janelle, our waitress was delightful, answered questions, explained the menu & made sure night went well. Started with a great drink,Peace Pipe-the cocktail list is entertaining & unique, followed by the Spanish Octupus Salad over pea hummus & the most delicious spicy green chile chicken wings - finger licking good. One salmon special and the house made kielbasa were our entrees - flavorful and different! Can't leave without one of their house made desserts or in this case two - the bread pudding with milk jam ice cream and the warm buttermilk bisquit with rhubarb compote - would go back for any of the food! I took advantage of the House Special Prix Fix - appt, entree & dessert $35."

  • "High energy place (if not a bit loud) and great food and drinks. Waitress was exceptionally nice and good. Pour a top notch old-fashioned and an interesting beer list as well. Had the burger (last one of the night!) and it was really, really good. Recommended!"

  • "We visited this restaurant for the first time last week, and we could not have asked for a better experience. We made a reservation for my boyfriend's going away party (he's in the military and is leaving for his next assignment.) When we first arrived, the manager personally came over to shake my bougriend's hand and wish him a safe trip—which was so kind of him. That was just the beginning of the excellent service we received. The food was fantastic. Everyone in our party of ten could not stop talking about the delicious appetizers and entrees—literally, everything we tried was amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great atmosphere, wonderful food, and excellent service!"

  • "We absolutely love Craigie on Main and we couldn't be more thrilled that Craigie now has a daughter restaurant! The atmosphere is rustic chic with a casual attitude fit for hipsters and foodies. The pork-fried rib appetizer was to die for; I almost ordered another one! The burger as my entree was incredible. The quality of the grass-fed beef was superb and the bun was mode locally at Iggy's. Absolutely wonderful! We can't wait to go back :-)"

  • "I expected a lot of this restaurant. Our entrees were interesting and well prepared but both appetizers were disappointing. The grilled oysters were simply warm and I have had amazing grilled oysters in New Orleans so I know what is possible. The fried fish was good but not memorable that I would order again. The banana split dessert was recommended by our server and was great."

  • "Long story short- had dinner the night before in one if Boston's better restaurants. It was quite good. Kt&t's food though is what you get from a world class chef. Just plain outstanding. 3 people, we had 7 items. Each one perfect. The previous night(again, one of Boston's highly rated joints) was merely very good. This place though was near perfect. The platonic ideal of a good dinner."

  • "At KTT for the third time, I brought a friend who ordered the veggie stew. Once it arrived she asked the server if there was cilantro in it, saying something "tastes like soap." The server asked if she'd like something else and said the cilantro was in the rice. Moments later the chef came out to explain that a cilantro-free stew was on its way. My friend is picky (I explained that they don't typically list every seasoning ingredient on a menu). She was delighted with the new stew and walked away much more likely to return."

  • "This is a place to hang out with friends and enjoy the same type cuisine as Tony's upscale version at Craigie on Main without the attitude and stress. Really interesting appetizers and beer selections. Big entrees and great fish and meat entrees. The service was slow on a Friday night with a big crowd but they were right on top if how this was landing on guests and comped us drinks. Really cool place for 30-40 somethings."

  • "Nearly so. Only one trip, so; hard to form a permanent opinion! Only lapse were the steak-tip skewers; a bit under cooked, and tough/chewy. The fish (can't remember the type) was spectacular. Virtually flawless. The garlicky bean pasta app was also beautifully done. Extremely smart, well priced wine choices! Every pic, every bottle great, and correct temp! The bread could've have been transformed with a quick minute or two in the oven, but as was, was cold & chewy."

  • "The lamb ribs are "to die for"! My only complaint is that the espresso was undrinkable and served in a wide coffee cup so it was lukewarm when arrived. Surprising for a place with top notch food, drink and service and nowadays, most good restaurants in the states have decent espresso. I swear I'm not a coffee snob but this stuff was really not drinkable."

  • "Our wedding anniversary fell on a work night this year (a Tuesday), but since it was our 30th, I didn't want to just put off a celebration till the weekend. I made a reservation for Kirkland Tap & Trotter for 6:30 Tuesday, noting that it was our anniversary on the "notes" box. What a wonderful evening! No fewer than 3 staff members congratulated us on our occasion, and the manager lit a candle for us when he brought out dessert. The atmosphere is warm, not formal. The food was beyond reproach--definitely surpassed the foodie bar but without being fussy. (And please don't take the pig trotters off the menu or my husband will be very sad. ) Service was attentive and friendly, and the rhythm of the meal spot on. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We enjoyed eating here -- the food and beer selection was very good. However, for the price, I would probably prefer someplace more 'comfortable' - there were three of us at a table that probably should only seat two (and two would've been cramped) so there was no room on the table for much of anything - we had to put many things that we would normally have kept on the table on a chair near us. I felt squeezed and I'm a very average size adult male. The appetizers were good but, unlike many places we've eaten, the entrees were better! Desserts were very good, too. Overall, I liked the casual atmosphere but felt as though the prices of the entrees were hard to justify."

  • "We had a lot of food that was GOOD, well-prepared food. But none of it was outstanding. And for the price, I think there should have been at least one thing that blew me away. They're clearly making much more in house than a typical restaurant would, including the hot dog and the tartar sauce. It's cool, and probably is why the prices are high, but I'm not convinced that it's worth it. Every dish we had had something that was holding it back. They were all good, just not great. So, I'd be less complain-y at 2/3 the price, to be sure. Crab: over salted. Steak tips: served medium, instead of requested medium rare. Pork chop: over brined, too much smoke (but served medium, which was great)."

We loved everything we ate and drank (with the exception, perhaps, of my husband's daring drink that had a raw egg in it!). It's a great-looking space with a cool crowd and crackling ambiance. I'm tempted to go back for brunch next Sunday just to have the wild mushroom scramble, which is simple, but perfect."

Our friends ordered the burger and they loved their meal as well! Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly and answered numerous questions we had regarding the menu with a smile!   • "We love the food and drinks at Tap & Trotter. The burgers are excellent. The waitstaff is thoughtful and extremely attentive. They have comped us appetizers when we had to wait longer than usual for a table. The attention is nice when you need something, but can become overbearing when you just want to be left alone to enjoy your food and company. Our last couple trips there, I don't think we went a full five minutes without someone asking us if we needed something, and it is hard not to get the feeling that you are being pressured to pay your bill and leave. This is really Tap and Trotter's only flaw, and if they improve on this I could easily see it becoming one of our favorite haunts."

  • "What a fabulous place! We have now been here three times and each time we have loved every aspect of our meal and our experience. The place is comfortable and menu is inspired. Cocktails are terrific. Food is among the best you can find. Everything we have had here has been wonderful. The soft shell crab was the best I have had anywhere. I especially love that this is a place I can bring my 75-year-old mother, my 12-year-old son (who is a very ambitious diner), and also my hippest of foodie friends. It is comfortable in every way, and the food is outstanding. I need to try the brunch next."

  • "Our second time at KK&T and we will return again soon. We were a little worried going with a group of 6 who had a lot of catching up to do, since it is noisy, but all restaurants are these days, and we didn't mind the level. The casual ambience and style of serving are in contrast to the excellent quality of the food. We tried a good deal of the menu -- 4 starters, 6 mains, 2 sides and 6 desserts and found no weaknesses. Grilled foods like chicken, pork chops and steak tips were all juicy and tender, never dry. The desserts were outstanding. It's not cheap, but the quality of the food and service make it worthwhile."

  • "Four of us came in for brunch. It was only their third week of being open but people seem to be discovering it. I overheard people saying they had been before and loved it so we were psyched. We weren't disappointed. We wanted to share everything and we did - bluefish rillettes, scrambled eggs and mushrooms, shrimp and polenta, hot dog hash, and bacon. This didn't leave room for dessert but those that walked by looked great. The vibe is rustic but sophisticated if that makes sense. Definitely not same old, same old. Very friendly and efficient service too."

  • "I've been back to KT&T a number of times and still haven't seen their famous pork chop on the menu (I'm told it's now available only at brunch, which I haven't tried yet). But I keep ordering the "fire-roasted chicken," which I think is the single most delicous chicken dish in the Boston area. The chicken, which takes about 20 minutes to prepare, is moist and juicy with an amazing, unforgettable "fire-roasted" taste, perfectly acocmpanied by spinach, an entire half chicken so sides are necessary. We were kept waiting 15 minutes after our reservation (a Saturday night and a couple of tables were very slow to pay up), but the server, to make up for the wait, offered us a scrumptious appetizer as compensation. Very generous. We'll be back!"

  • "I thought the soup on the special which was my entree was pretty ordinary. It was filling but the blend of sausage and white beans with greens was not at all outstanding. My guest had the hamburger, which she enjoyed. The bread that arrived with the meal was also ordinary. The glass of grenache which we both chose was not particularly tasty. The service was fine. "

  • "An electric atmosphere with great breakfast / brunch. Take note however, they open at 10:30 AM on Sundays BUT MA law prevents serving alcohol until 11:00 AM. Therefore unfortunately we had our bloody mary drinks after the food was served rather than as preferred prior to eating. Suggestion is that K T & T not open until 11:00 AM on Sundays or note on their website that alcohol not available on Sundays until 11:00 AM. Sunday brunch is always best with a bloody mary or marmosa. "
