A word from The Kirkland Tap & Trotter
Welcome to The Kirkland Tap & Trotter Our food is simple, hearty and approachable. It is how Chef Maws cooks at home for friends and family. At the center of the kitchen is our hardwood grill where you can find us cooking up any of our options to share as well as other grilled fare. Tony has designed an affordable menu, making it easy to eat here often. Keeping with the theme of The Kirkland Tap & Trotter being an every night of the week establishment, beverage choices will also be representative of things we like to drink. We invite you to drop by after work to try something from our expansive beer list, a straight forward and delicious cocktail or one of our many wines by the glass with our usual preference toward wines with a bit of funk. We’re open for dinner seven days a week.

geat meal; great service. unfortunately not very comfortable tables and chairs and much too noisy. Why on earth do they play music in a restaurant with not sound dedening?

We had brunch at Kirkland Tap & Trotter on a recent trip to Somerville. I picked the restaurant from reviews online, but my daughter who is in grad school in town, really enjoyed the food, as did her 90 yr old grandmother. The food was great, the service as good, the noise level was not bad and the Bloody Mary was nice and spicy. I would definitely return for lunch or dinner!

We've been to KTT for dinner before, which is great! And it turns out brunch is great too! We enjoyed the Mediterranean brunch (eggplant yum!), hot dog hash (they make their own hot dogs yum!), burger (love their burgers yum!), and french toast (didn't even need the syrup yum!). It's a kid-friendly atmosphere, and the staff were very accommodating and attentive.

Squeaked into K T&T for a late Saturday night dinner. The place was hopping, but we managed a quieter table in a corner near the bar. My companion had a lamb (chop and homemade sausage) special--exquisite--and I had my usual fire-roasted chicken, as juicy and tasty as ever. We shared the country pate as an appetizer and it was both subtle and full of flavor, with two perfect seedy mustards and grlled onions. Always a treat to go there.

I was disappointed with The Kirkland Tap & Trotter. My experience at their Sunday Brunch: Cons: The kitchen lost/forgot about our order, even though the restaurant was not nearly full. When the food did come out, mine was a little cold. Small portions considering how much you pay. Cocktails were tiny as well. Our waitress was sweet, but not very knowledgeable or attentive. Pros: The hostess was very nice and did her best to accommodate my party when we were a bit early for our reservation. Great décor. We were given a complimentary salad when our food was late. (Except when you're starving and you've ordered hot dog hash smothered in hollandaise sauce, the last thing you want to eat is a kale salad.)

This was my first time having brunch at Kirkland Tap & Trotter. I love the dinners, so I figured brunch would be the same. I have to admit, I'll probably stick to the dinners. There was nothing terribly wrong with our meal, I just think dinner is a much better deal and I've always been very happy with the food.

Had a 7:30 reservation, actually seated at our table at 8:15. We put in our orders quickly and the appetizers came out fairly fast, but it was 9:30 by the time our entrees were served. The food itself was very tasty (appetizers: OK Kale & Apple Salad & mushroom side; entrees: wonderful Persian Stew, the burger, and the Loup de Mer; desserts: fantastic poached pear & ice cream sundae) but it seems the restaurant is working out some timing kinks.

I really enjoyed this place, mainly due to the friendly and knowledgable server. The food was excellent - I had the fixed price "neighborhood special" (a mussels appetizer; kielbasa (perfectly grilled) with very spicy mustard, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes; and my choice from the dessert menu (Bourbon-caramel banana split). As has been reported, the prices are high, but the portions seemed more than adequate. My husband and I each had some questions about the type of gin and type of bourbon they had, and in addition to the report of the server on her experience, we were shown a complete list of the brands available. They have a kids' menu and there were at least two tables with kids being served when we were there.

The food is excellent. The service is excellent. It can be really loud when full. Very hard to have a conversation with someone sitting across from you without shouting even though the tables are cozy. Not a good place for a first date. Great place to dine with your significant other, especially at the bar. Since you can sit close you don't have to shout.

I like this place for a creative take on simple ingredients. Speaking of which my hamburger was heavenly. grass fed juicy beef full of flavor. As soon as I bit into my first morsel, there was no stopping. interesting take on pickles pears, peanuts and such, Crinkly pickles that accompanied hamburger were rather unsatisfying, nothing inside only the skin, I found cut too hard. Side dish of turnip was heartwarming tribute to the fall. Music selection, Sunday night was rocking !

The service is professional. The portions are silly. Especially for a place the bills itself as a "tavern". To charge me standard price for a cocktail half the size is just silly. We started ordering two at time, they are just that small. And the food? Good not great. My "entree" burger was only slightly larger than a slider. I asked for it medium, it came out medium rare. Halfway through the bun is a soggy mess. So it was ok, but money vs enjoyment vs portions this place is EXPENSIVE, and not in a good way.

KTT is a really fun little place. It was laid back enough to take the kids and hip enough that we felt good about being there. And the food is really amazing. We had the salmon head - gross and yet so delicious! I need a moment to recover! The pate de campagne was excellent. The duck for two was juicy and perfect. And the banana split should not go by such a mundane name. Soo good!

I liked it. Decor is sweet, lots of mechanical/dirty hanging objects, but lots of natural light keeps it all looking clean (and of course it is actually clean). Tasty food, including the most gently poached egg I've had. I'd come back. BONUS POINTS: Waitress didn't flinch when we showed the free entree coupon. I'm always anxious about the staff being cranky when I use those, but not so at Kirkland Tap & Trotter!

We've been to KT&T four times and the first three were in the 3 or 4-star range, but this time was not good at all. All of the food was WAY over-salted - from the octopus app to both entrees (burger and swordfish)- all we could taste was salt. I'm also disappointed that the chef known for his burger cannot get French fries right. They've changed them a few times and the most recent version are a soggy, salty mess.

I thought the word complimentary meant something else for just a second... but this is true, there are free bar apps everyday from 5:30-6:30. Everything we had was delicious: whipped ricotta flatbread, chicken, burger. You name it, all amazing! The bar was energetic and the staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming. I went twice in one week for dinner if that tells you anything!

The Kirkland Tap & Trotter is just like their sister restaurant, Craigie on Main - excellent food, great atmosphere. You really see the influence, but KT&T is definitely their own restaurant. It's more affordable than Craigie and menu is unique. Service started off great, but a big party came in and we started to see it slack, but understandably so. The mussels and the amazing sauce with the corn is great, prefix menu with the housemade kielbasa is a must try - and I loved my sirloin tips! The grilled corn and green beans make great sides. I can't wait to go back! It's a must try

We tried Kirkland for brunch recently, we got the burger and the house-made spaghetti. The burger was ok, the meat was cooked a little too rare (I asked for MR and it was rare); I've had better burgers in Boston, so I won't go running back for this one. The spaghetti was delicious, as always. We also split a sticky bun which is out of this world good. Coffee was excellent and bloody mary was good if you like cumin (note, if you are not a cumin fan, do not get the bloody). I would certainly come back for the spaghetti and some cocktails, and perhaps a sticky bun or two. Note: Apparently this is a very kid-friendly brunch spot (so maybe avoid if you're looking for a quiet meal).

I brought my out of town relatives here for a first visit because I had heard good things. The food was quite good and the staff was attentive and helpful. My wife and I got the duck for two which was delicious, and a lot of food (we didn't finish it, but cold duck is lovely!) My Aunt got the sardines which she was very happy with and my uncle made a meal from sides with the crispy pork ribs (fantastic) and the grilled corn. The corn was so good we got another order for desert. Pro-tip, you can ask for four cobs instead of three on the corn side-dish. I started with the pickled peach salad, good and interesting (I really liked the pickled peanuts,) but not exceptional. The heirloom tomato salad, on the other hand, was perfectly executed.

What a FIND! What a pleasant surprise, we weren't "in the know" about the name and were kind of skeptical. Boy did they set us straight! FANTASTIC cocktails that I'm drooling about as I write(at 7am) bar aged bourbon and creative concoctions! Then, the food intrigued as well, each course! This was a first try, we'll be back asap, hopefully this week, in case it was first blush. I'm willing to try repeatedly to make sure each subsequent visit lives up to the first!

The selections are inventive and not what you'll see everywhere else. Interesting cuts of meat and the freshest vegetables are prepared and presented beautifully. There is not a lot of seafood on the menu and just one veggie dish. I loved the homemade whole wheat linguine in ham ragout. The beer and wine selection was varied and interesting. The servers were enthusiastic and friendly. It was a delightful evening.

Corn is in season, and grilled corn is one of the side dishes. You are obligated to order it every time you go there because it is that good. I'm addicted to their grilled oysters. $2 grilled oysters every Wednesday. Nuff said. I ordered their special this time around...a whole bass cooked on their wood-fired grill. Maybe the most tender grilled fish meat I've ever tasted. Coupled with a large format Clown Shoes Russian Imperial Stout off their underground beer menu. No matter what you get here, you'll be satisfied. If you're looking to get something to go or if you want to have leftovers, their wood-fired grilled chicken reheats quite well and retains all its smoky flavor...even more so after reheating. Yeah, this place f***ing rules.

I'd make this a regular dinner out with friends but it is WAY overpriced for pub fare, even wonderfully prepared pub fare. We went for brunch and were really pleased. The selections are creative and really well prepared - not the fare found at most brunches. A special mention of the waitstaff is in order. They set just the right tone - very helpful, but never hovering. The noise level is a bit high because of the all the exposed concrete and high ceiling, and could use improving, but we'll definitely return.

We enjoyed dinner there recently but I can't help but notice that their pricing seems to have escalated from what was originally intended to be a great place for interesting, well-prepared, casual food to what now seems to be priced to compare more with a finer dining focus. We will come back but not as frequently as we might otherwise if it were viewed to be a more casual place for regular dining.
