The Keg Steakhouse & Bar - ThurlowOutstanding service - on busy SatA manager, Richard, came to our table to apologize after my wife's steak was overdone . As I was already eating my steak (which was excellently prepared), he offered my wife's steak to be on the house, and a complimentary dessert so we could actually share something together that evening. Second steak come quite promptly, and was served by the manager, who again apologized. Then came the settling of bill. I had a $50 gift card which I used to cover the the bill. However, with tip, the amount would have exceeded the gift card amount. She did not ask to be paid more in tips, as I originally planned to do, just the amount left over on gift card.

The food took a while to get to our table, but the wait was understandable (busy Mother's Day!) and worth it. The filet mignon was glorious - extremely succulent and tender. The oscar was legendary with the hollandaise sauce and perfectly cooked scallops. It made me beg for more! The tiger prawns were a tad bit chewy, though I would not say it is rubbery. I will take the garlic mashed potatoes over the renowned twice baked potato any day. Overall experience was superb! Portions were generous (the starter salad could serve as a meal itself), and service was pleasurable. The Keg was one of our best choices in the years we've been getting together. Although it's a 'steakhouse' we found there was plenty of variety on the menu. Only one of us actually had steak - a good one. The atmosphere was great for chatting and the service was great; we never lacked anything but we weren't aware of the waiter hovering over us too obviously. All in all, it was a great outing for the 'geezers'.
