Diner Reviews
  • "I went for the 'burgers n' bourbon' having seen a previous review. Its a nice place. Comfortable. The 'speakeasy' was a cool touch. Will go back again to try the breakfast selection."

  • "Couldn't eat cause they list our reservation . Front desk and manager were oblivious to us."

  • "Doug Katz has proved once again the quality of great food, atmosphere and service in this unique mid century modern eatery!"

  • "We love the Bar Car at Katz Klub! Wednesday night is Burgers & Bourbon. Love the burger and fries. And, of course, the bourbon tasting! We always enjoy the great service and conversation with Eric, the bartender. The wife and I consider this "our spot.""

  • "Hand crafted drinks that are superb. One of the best old fashions I've had ever!! Food is all locally sources and you can taste the quality. There is a reason that Doug Katz is recognized as one of the best in the business. Menu is eclectic yet still retains the old school dinner feel. Will be a regular of this establishment. "

  • "This is the first time for my husband and I to have dinner at the Katz Club. It had to be the worst restaurant meal I can remember in a long time. We ordered chicken-a-la-king and took three bites and left it. It was mostly mushrooms and the meat was dark meat....un-appetizing looking dark meat. It was served over a huge, pyramid stack of waffles.....presentation was immediately a turn-off. We ordered a salad first. It looked as if it were directly out of the plastic bag without as much as a single tomato or cucumber slice in sight. We did order cocktails first ( which were good). We were out of there in 45min, having eaten little and, with tip, we dropped $62. I hope Doug succeeds but, not with that kind of food! "

  • "I was pleasantly surprised to be able to make an Open Table reservation; then was surprised to find that we would be seated in the "club"/lounge section since I did not know that they had finished that section of the diner. I loved the ambiance of a "speak-easy", but although a dinner menu is available, we found it tricky trying to eat at the low, made for cocktails & finger foods, tables. Would definitely go back there for drinks & a quick snack. Will stick to the diner section for meals."

  • "They get it right by paying attention to every little detail. The chilled glasses. The professional bartenders. The unusual combination on the menu. Loved it! wish it was on my side of town, but worth the trip!"

  • "This is a beautiful spot and a great vibe, but the service did not match the surroundings - both bartenders were inattentive and not particularly friendly. It was early and not busy. The service was the same for the party behind us, I don't think the male bartender greeted the table or took their order for what seemed like 10 minutes. The food was great but was spoiled by the uncaring staff, I hope it improves because we won't be back for awhile."

  • "We enjoyed a great Valentine's Day evening and thought Bar Car was amazing and like no other place in Cleveland! The food is, of course, up to Doug's outstanding and unusual standards. The huge selection of bourbons, gins and other types of alcohol are impressive and capable of meeting anyone's drink tastes. The comfortable, relaxed seating and low tables, make this a great place to have a comfortable evening for a couple but also perfect for a larger group!"
