A word from The Junction
The Junction is the first full service restaurant in Asheville's River Arts District. We feature Southern-inspired farm to table fare and seasonal craft cocktails with fresh ingredients. We brine our fried chicken, smoke our pears, handcraft our soups and visit tailgate markets weekly. We make our own bacon and ketchup, squeeze cases of citrus each week for cocktails and work with other local, small businesses whenever possible. We invite you to join us after work for a casual beer and a burger at the bar, or to bring your beloved or whole family for a unique dining experience. Our menu features a combination of soups, salads and sharing plates as well as hearty entree options so that every dining experience is unique.   • "We sat outside and started with a glass of wine and shared the Fried Barcat Oysters, which were delicious and enough for two. For supper, my wife had the Brisket with collards and horseradish risotto, while I had the Bouillabaisse. The risotto was served cold, which we initially found to be a bit odd, but the flavor was excellent. My Bouillabaisse was also very tasty, particularly the oysters. The shrimp were "tails on" which required me to work a bit for my meal. Two trains puttered past while we were eating, providing an additional point of interest. A neighboring table had a Charcuterie Board - the house smoked meats, cheese selection, and sauces all looked wonderful and we will enjoy that on our next visit!"

  • "This was our first time going out of downtown ashville for dinner. It was a nice surprise. Charles and the staff were warm and inviting. It was long going to a long lost friends home. Each item we order brought a new taste to a typical food. We started with two appetizers peaches and fried oysters both I would highly recommend. For our main course we had brisket and fried chicken. My son had the fried chicken and he said he would not eat fried chicken again because it was the best he'd ever tasted. The brisket was served with a horseradish purée and collard greens that balanced the flavor of the meat perfectly. For desert we had the chocolate torte and key lime pie which were both incredible. The entire experience was delightful."

  • "A gem of a restaurant in the still evolving River Arts District. The restaurant is funky (befitting its location), something of a "joint" with a small bar, inside and outside seating. Quite casual in style and decor the food is innovative and on a par with any "fine dining" establishment. Menu selections are limited, small plates are available and the food is excellent. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a radish appetizer followed by bouillabaisse (shrimp, redfish, mussels, etc.) for my wife and the hamburger for me. The burger was exquisite with pork belly layered over the meat patty and covered by jalapeños and a red sauce--flavors exploded on the palate! Leave room for the Mexican cinnamon chocolate torte for dessert!"

The iced tea brined fried chicken is a marvel, but everything I've tasted on the menu is equally well done. The staff is professional, accommodating and engaging. The bar handles their business well. The only complaint would be that the dining room is on the small side and it gets a bit loud in there. Otherwise, just comfort food for foodies done right."

A relative from out of town flew in on his birthday and we brought him directly to the restaurant, where the staff seated him facing away from the door and phoned the rest of the surprise birthday party to tell them he had arrived. He was shocked and thrilled when family and friends started to file in and sit as his table. Many restaurants will comp you with a piece of bday cake. Nowhere else I know would become coconspirators. AND altho though the brunch menu is s little limited, everything was carefully prepared and very tasty. We will definitely return often."

We were in town celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary and had brunch reservations at The Junction during Studio Stroll. The food was fabulous and the staff was incredibly attentive and kind - even accomodating our special request for outdoor seating so my sister's dog could join us (they even had water set up for him outside by our table). The atmosphere inside is cool, funky and intimate - great music and fabulous eclectic food. Even my two young daughters loved the pulled pork on southern biscuit topped with a cheese/bacon sauce and pineapple salsa - YUM! Highly recommend!"

  • "One would never look at this restaurant and divine the quality of food to be found inside. Located in the River Arts district, the building is best described as a "joint"--with a somewhat small interior space as well as outside dining. The tables and chairs are "rustic", diner style and not inviting for a lingering evening. The staff is quite welcoming and friendly. We went for lunch (a special opening for the galleries) and were quite pleased to discover a menu which, while limited, contained very sophisticated selections. My wife had the chicken gumbo and I had pork cheek. Both were excellent with complementary ingredients. The sangria was quite tasty as well. The dinner menu looked even more intriguing and we plan to return."

  • "Had a great anniversary dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was not very crowded as we arrived for our 6:30 Reservation. We were seated promptly by the owner. Had a very friendly server/bartender who explained the menu and took our drink orders. I had the fried oysters that came with pickled okra/onions and jalapeno peppers.For the main course i had the snapper both were excellent. My wife had a vegetarian dish of scalloped radish and other veggies that she raved about."

Last night we had lightly fried oysters with a pickled okra, jalapeno, onion relish for appetizer, red snapper in a pea puree and potato fingerlings.   • "Our group enjoyed fried oysters with olives as appetizer -nice combo- and a varied meat and cheese plate , all good, and entrees of fried softshell Crabs with olives, again, adding a little piquant flavor (sauce a little lackluster however and one patron thought dish too salty )but overall successful dish. Delicious key lime pie and chocolate cheesecake pie for dessert. Very friendly good service. Ambiance is pleasantly casual but is always a Bit of a gamble depending on how busy and noisy it gets in the somewhat cramped space -and chairs uncomfortable for sitting any reasonable length of time... But overall we are Not disappointed when we eat here. Recommended!"

  • "We'd heard good things about the Junction, so on one of our rare date nights, we tried it out. The entire night was special - from the warm greeting and recommendation to sit on the great patio - to the cocktails - to the thoughtful and nicely executed menu. I think they have the best staff in town. Everyone from the host to the bartender to our wonderful server was friendly and attentive, without being weird and hovering. The food was incredible, especially the oysters and mussels. It definitely ranks up there with the best of the best in Asheville. Another nice thing - the patio is kid friendly for an early dinner, so we're looking forward to coming back with baby. That's kind of a rarity - kid friendly with an interesting menu."

  • "We have been going to Junction for several years. If you are visiting for the first time the menu might be somewhat challenging. Once you have tried ah few items you realize anything the kitchen team puts together always works. We have never had a meal that wasn't top notch. The owners , Charles and Tonya are truly a special team and they seem to manage to always put together a special team of people in the kitchen, behind the bar and waiting on tables. The restaurant itself is not located downtown but in the up and coming River Arts District. Search it out you won't be disappointed "

We were there at sunset and the host was very accommodating, adjusting shades to keep the sun out of our eyes without being asked. However, the food was a terrible disappointment. All very hearty, even heavy with no lighter options for those in our party who wanted lighter fare. However the biggest problem was that everything was incredibly salty. I was still thirsty and chugging water mid-afternoon the next day. Even my twenty-something son who loves salty food thought it was overdone. "
