  • "We went to Indy for a quick weekend get away for my husbands birthday. The Jazz kitchen was an awesome way to celebrate with friends who joined us from Chicago. The acoustics in the venue are great and the band was outstanding. The menu had variety but the quality of the meal and service was average. The amount of food we were given was good for the cost and because of the overall experience, we would visit again when we are in Indy."

  • "The Jazz Kitchen is a great place in Indianapolis to enjoy food, drinks, and wonderful jazz music. We had the paella, and it was delicious! It was made as we waited, about 40 minutes, and it was worth the wait. It came out in a huge cast iron skillet, piping hot. It was jam-packed with shrimp, scallops, tilapia, and mussels, yum! We sat back and had drinks waiting for the paella to cook, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the "Women in Jazz" group to celebrate Women in Music month. The jazz was as hot as the paella!! The jazz artists were cooking! The atmosphere is dark, cosy, and romantic. I love the colorful artwork on the walls of stylized jazz musicians. Definitely a gem of Indianapolis, and worth the trip!!!"

  • "Really Disappointed with this place would like to see more than one act / group playing. The food was ok at best. The Group playing the night we went was ok nothing great. My wife ordered a Martini she didn't care for it took one sip of it and spit it out. I spoke with the server who asked if she would like something different we ordered a bottle of wine. I was still charged for the martini really disappointed that it wasn't taken care of. I asked for the cork to the wine bottle when we went to leave and was told that I couldn't have it. Was worth trying but plenty of other places around that are so much better we will not return"

  • "We celebrated a 26th birthday with dinner on a jam session night. Everyone agreed the food was delicious & this included a vegetarian. The service was fabulous & staff good natured. The music was great with local musicians taking turns with the regular musicians. We all look forward to returning!"

I was not informed before I got there that the first show was $12.00 and the second was $10.00. plus a $1 service charge. And the hostess was rude explaining all this to me."

  • "A great place to dine and hear a concert. Music is the draw, but don't overlook the food. They offer great Cajun dishes and desserts as well as many good drink choices. The only potential downside is that the room gets crowded and you might be placed at a table with another party. Still, the vibe is such that everyone has a good time."

The menu is a bit old fashioned...nothing too inventive, I must say...and the bar holds no major surprises, but as a place to hang out and listen to music, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. And while not inventive, everything I've had there is very tasty. And the prices are reasonable...entrees top out in the low 20s and you can definitely eat cheaper than that."

  • "If you don't mind overpaying for decent food (don't think the cost of food pays the artist(s) because sometimes they have a special cover charge). When I took my lady, we ended up squished between two couples in the back ... I spent the evening with my left side touching some guy. The tables, at least in the back along the wall, are tiny (barely enough room to eat with another). The musician was pretty entertaining though. I just don't like being gouged for a decent experience. Great concept, I just don't want to pay nearly 20 dollars for a small pasta dish. You should go at least once and see if you like it. I generally don't like being in crowded environments ... At a minimum, I want to be comfortable."

Our server, Cory, was very attentive and made our experience even more enjoyable. Only minor complaint is that we found out when we arrived that we would be sharing a table with another couple. Fortunately, we enjoyed each other's company, and pleasantly endured the inconvenience of having four diners at a very small table However, I feel we should have been informed we would be sharing a table at the time the reservation was made. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back."

  • "The Jazz Club is such an intimate venue that it is perfect for listening to known favorites and modestly priced to take a chance on new artists that might be playing. Wait staff is attentive without being intrusive and overall it was a GREAT evening. The only teeny little issue was there are a couple of screens in the "bar" area. The enthusiasm, followed by disappointment of those folks there to watch the game sometimes made it difficult to enjoy the music. There really is no solution that I can see for that problem!"

  • "My family and a large group of friends have tried going to the jazz kitchen and every time the staff calls to cancel our reservation because the kitchen is only serving appetiers and not serving full menu items. Although we were drawn in because of Latin night, we were turned away because we thought this was also a restaurant and they are doing a poor job at meeting expectations. We were very disappointed and unsatisfied as a group."

  • "We attended the jazz jam session last night. These are scheduled on the last Monday of every month. I am not particularly a fan of jazz, but my fiancee is and she loved it. The music was great. There was the bar's band, who were excellent, and then they let patrons go up and play their instruments (I think these people signed up ahead of time or maybe when they arrived, in case you're interested). Everyone who played or sang was good. The music definitely filled the room, but it was easy to talk amongst your table. I had the filet Mignon and my fiancee had some kind of crab cake dish. We were both very satisfied with our entrees and the dessert was excellent. We didn't drink last night, but the selection seemed wide. I give it a solid A."

  • "Food, wonderful as usual. Maitre D', cool as usual. Music, lively as usual. Service, unusually HORRIFIC. Our waitress was a complete disaster. It is very disappointing to watch the other patrons in a restaurant be served with professionalism and proficiency while you cannot even get a second glass of wine or order desert. We had to ask another waitress to ask our waitress to come to our table so that we could order another glass of wine. She did not come back and check to see if how meals were. It was 90 minutes between ordering dinner and her asking, "is there anything else I can get for you". The waitress was so inept she caused me to loose my appetite for desert. She ruined my experience at Monday night's Jam Session."
