The Ivy Inn Restaurant
Delicious! The food was amazing! The waitress suggestions were to die for, but my favorite part of the meal was the chef's gift. Isn't that weird the free spinach and filo dough was my favorite! Can't wait to come again. Just wish it weren't so expensive so I could come all the time!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent local favoriteWe find the Ivy Inn a consistent value, and easily comparable to (often better) than many restaurants in larger cities. The noise level does not hinder conversation with friends. One never feels rushed or cramped. We have had many items off their menu, and have not been disappointed.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but very noisy!Great food but very noisy! Every conversation in the room could be clearly heard making for a less than pleasant meal when one is seated near a constant loud talker. The service was OK and the food was great.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Top Restaurant - Ivy InnOne of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Everything was perfect !6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a pleasant surprise! My brother from Chicago was visiting and my wife and I took him to the ivy Inn. He eats out a lot and we were hoping to meet his expectations. The Ivy Inn was a pleasant surprise. The service was attentive without being intrusive ... the local wine was very good ... the food was extraordinary. The cheese sampler as an appetizer was very nice, including the printed information explaining the background of the cheeses ... the entrees were excellent and desserts just right. Our waitress offered suggestions and recommended the shrimp and grits. My wife mentioned a bad first experience with shrimp and grits in Charleston, SC.. Within minutes, she returned with samples of shrimp and grits and the presentation, texture and taste were superb!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dine here whenever possibleWe dine here whenever possible when we visit Charlottesville. The food is outstanding. Service is attentive without being obtrusive.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIvy Inn does it AgainWe have dined at the Ivy Inn many times and generally for speicial occasions such as anniversarys or birthdays; and when good friends who enjoy a wonderful meal in a nice comfortable setting visit us in C-Ville. As usual, the food was excellent, service attentive and just right. The servers are always familiar with the menu and make solid recommendations. And besides the ambiance, the chef is consistently on his game; he never a disappointment.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinner was a success!Ivy Inn is a wonderful restaurant. Family of 5 ranging from 11 to 22 & parents celebrated my wife's birthday. The food choices were pretty hard to deal with...everyone wanted everything on the menu! We ended up getting 5 different appetizers & entrees and shared! The food is exceptional and portions just about perfect! No sense of rushing and our server Nicole was the best!
I'd highly recommend the Ivy Inn to anyone! Well done!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming SpotPleasant ambience combined with efficient, friendly service. All our courses were well prepared and imaginative. The local cheese plate was excellent.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantWe were in Charlottesville for a wedding. TripAdvisor listed Ivy Inn Restaurant as No. 1 in Charlottesville. There were 4 of us and we all chose different menu items. All of us were extremely well pleased. Excellent restaurant.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent RestaurantI dined at this restaurant on two succesive nights while attending a conference at UVA. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable. The people who run this restaurant really care about food. I only wish the retaurant were closer to Washington, DC!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat job and great mealWe celebrated our 25th anniversary there and they had specially designed menus just for us celebrating our big day. They also prepared a special desert with Happy 25th written in chocolate. Outstanding meal.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb food artfully presented.Superb food artfully presented. We dinned on a Monday evening and there was a large group occupying the entire ground floor so we had to go up a steep flight of stairs to the second floor. Our service alternated between two different servers, one very good and the other fair. Perhaps the big group on the ground floor was overwhelming them. Ample self parking in a lot right beside the building. There is a extensive wine list by the bottle and a small list by the glass. RGinTally5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply Perfect! We chose to eat at the Ivy Inn to celebrate Mother's Day. It was simply perfect. We've eaten at the Ivy Inn before, but every time it gets better and better. The food was outstanding, service attentive and courteous, and atmosphere relaxing and quaint. Will definitely be back again (and we live over 2 hours away!).5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA memorable mealWe had a very special Mother's Day meal at The Ivy Inn Restaurant. The food was stellar -- not really a single dish was lacking or unsatisfying in the five courses, and their take on dishes was creative and tasty. We were all very pleased with what a good meal it was. The only negatives were: a slightly higher noise level (making it a bit hard to hear over a large table); the service was a bit slow in tending to us in a couple of spots; and our two children didn't really have many choices on the menu. But overall, having never been there before, we were very happy with the meal and would certainly go back again for a special occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BESTWe have dined at The IVY INN several times for our Anniversary celebrations and it has always been perfect. For Mother's Day we had three teens with us. We were a little concerned that they may not find something on the menu to enjoy!! WRONG! They loved everything and want to go back there soon!! Everything was just perfect. Chef Angelo in fantastic, as always. We will be back!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ivy Inn is our most favoriteThe ivy Inn is our most favorite spot in Charlottesville. As with several prior visits,we were not disappointed and enjoyed the evening thoroughly.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect in every wayAs if the Chef's masterful preparation of quality local produce weren't enough, the staff is also superior; attentive yet not overbearing and our server was knowledgeable of the dinner menu and wine list. Each plate is well-presented and well-timed. Ivy Inn is fine dining done properly. We look forward to another great meal soon!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. I always make it a point to dine at the Ivy Inn when in the area.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group of 9 senior citizensOur group of 9 senior citizens visiting Charlottesville had a wonderful evening. The salmon, scallop and chicken dinners were excellent. Those having appetizers instead of the dinners had plenty to eat and everything was delicious, especially the one with the crispy egg! It was especially nice having a private room where we were not disturbed by other dinners. Our waitress was efficient and very pleasant.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I would have known sooner! The Ivy Inn is the most incredible restaurant's in Charlottesville, without a doubt! Having travelled a decent amount, my wife and I have enjoyed some great meals in New York, Chicago, New Orleans - some of the truly great restaurants in the country - and our meal at Ivy Inn has been our favorite.
I am not sure where to start or how to describe the food other than just saying it absolutely blew us away. We started our meal by splitting a salad and appetizer, which was the single best appetizer I've ever had. For dinner, my wife had scallops and I had beef - both of which were cooked to perfection.
But as much as we enjoyed the food, I think the service was even better!
I am out of characters or I would keep going!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to ivy inn for ourWe went to ivy inn for our anniversary. They did a nice job, from the complimentary glass of champagne to start off our meal to the special menu we could take along with us. My meal was outstanding (scallops) but my husband's meal was ok (pork chops). Our salads were good and desserts were great. It was a good choice for our celebration.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMbetter than expectedold house on country lane. Tableclothes/ well dressed patrons, some birthdaying and anniversarying. Quiet/ staid, but not stoggy.Young, knowledgable, personable staff. Expertly prepared/well presented, short, "foodie oriented" menu (available on Website) emphacizing local and obviously high quality ingredients. Good cocktails, extensive/ample wine list &"wine by the glass" selections. Entrees as good as appetizers. Fine vegetable preparations/ sauces accompanying both my wife's steak and my scallops. I started with a great version of shrimp and grits in an unusual (I think country ham oriented) sauce. Chef taking well conceived, but not "crazy" risks. Sensational English Toffee "thing" dessert. $125 for 2 w/. drinks, coffee, shared dessert.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Find in CharlottesvilleMy wife and I met up with friends and had a very enjoyable dining experience at the Ivy Inn. Food was very nice, wine list offered both quality and choice, service was terrific and the staff found us a quiet corner for catching up without having to raise our voices. Everyone had a great time.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTop ShelfThe Old Ivy was a tip from a friend and we came here on a anniversary trip. The waitress said the menu changes everyday and I asked what stays on the menu all the time. She said the filet, the lamb and the salmon. The lamb dish was 4 lamb chops on some coucous accompanied with half gyro sandwich. Sounded unusual enough to give it a try even though typically I am not a gyro fan. Buddy let me tell ya it was off the hook. really really good. Also had Shrimp and grits which was very nice as well. great food, good people, great memory of the Old Ivy Inn.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ivy Inn is fantastic! The Ivy Inn is fantastic! We've eaten there every time we visit Cville, and it is consistently excellent each time. In our most recent visit, we've eaten at the Inn 4 nights in a row, each had different entrees each night, and each to be delicious.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Decor needs upgradeNice old house. Interior needs refreshing, as it has too much patine... Service is courteus but not exceptional.. Food was excellent. Wine list only sells American wines. It is worth for the food!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my 2nd time at THEThis was my 2nd time at THE IVY, and it was fabulous again! A bit noisey for a romantic dinner4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ivy Inn Restaurant foodThe Ivy Inn Restaurant food was incredible, it is gourmet food with classic Southern influence. When we got there we were seated immediately and the waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. We received our appetizers and salads in a decent amount of time but received our en-tree approximatively an hour after being seated. The waiter apologized and tended to us as needed, but explained that there was a large party who got their orders in before us which forced everyone else at the restaurant to have to wait.
I got the Spinach Ravioli and my wife got the Chicken with Country Ham, both were impeccable. Overall, great choice for romantic night and excellent food. Would highly recommend to anyone else.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Beautiful SpotVery romantic spot. The food was delicious and different. I had a very enjoyable time. We had our first anniversary dinner at the Ivy Inn and received congratulations from just about everyone on the staff. A complimentary champagne toast and customized "Happy Anniversary" printed menus were a nice touch!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCOCONUT CAKE!!! Toffee Pudding!!!My daughter,11, and I picked the The Ivy on a whim but once we noticed the Coconut Cake on the menu, we were hooked and booked the table. A huge fan of Coconut, my daughter would eat anywhere that has this menu option but she was also excited about the pork chop. We had a 6:30 reservation but my daughter was declining fast as we finished up the UVA tour after a full day at Montpelier plus the two hour drive from home. I called and they got us in at 5 with no problems. We order a beautiful salad, she has the pork chops (TERRIFIC) and I have the Salmon (FABULOUS) and then dessert! She has been waiting weeks for this dessert! Christian, our waiter comes back to tell us that they are sold out! Bummed but recommend the Toffee Pudding!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCharlottesville Gem!This is going to be a favorite from now on in Charlottesville! We could not rave enough even with six out-of-town return visits for one of us and three for the other.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe trout was exceptionalThe trout was exceptional and my Dad said the Osso Bucco was better than at his fave restaurant in Alexandria, VA.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but dated......Good food but could use some 'updating' to attract a younger crowd. Although having 'regulars' is good for business, the younger crowd will be eventually be the regulars if the menu and the vibe it right. I've eaten her over a course of 20 years and can honestly say the place itself hasn't changed.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the Ivy Inn. TheWe love the Ivy Inn.
