  • Good but disappointed

    Dined on 10/25/2014
Overall the food was good but took a long time to arrive. After an hour our waiter came by to apologize and said we'd be waiting another 20-30 minutes. When we said we couldn't wait that long because we needed to be somewhere he left and came back saying the food would be out right away. My husbands steak wa cooked perfectly, my daughters shrimp was good but the vegetables were cold. I had ordered my prime rib medium rare but it came looking and tasting more like medium to medium well. There was a big table next to us but we had ordered before them so we didn't exoect such a long wait. While the manager took 50 percent off my meal the visit was disappointing since we've come to expect more from the Ivy.

I had not been to the Ivy in several years, but the food and service we're better than expected. My companion's trout was excellent while I found the Jambalaya a bit hot but still delicious. They ran out of duck rolls appetizer but we still had chicken livers which was well cooked in a balsamic vinegar sauce. We we're very happy with the service level from our waiter. He was very attentive yet gave us plenty of privacy to enjoy our meal.

We enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere amidst the Scottish pipes from the people arriving for their event. We thoroughly enjoyed the pipe music. We agreed that your venue may have good food for lunch and so we may be back again. Thank you for The Ivy experience.

Excellent food, great wine, exceptional service and when there was a problem with how a steak was cooked (the second time!), the cost was promptly removed from our bill. It was the right thing to do (but most restaurants don't do it!) so we were impressed that we didn't have to suggest it. We felt very well looked after and will be back.

Hi there! Overall, our experience at the ivy was great! We happened to come on a night that was hosting a wedding party though so it was quite loud. (but no fault of their own!) I had made my reservation online and had asked for a booth if possible, but we ended up in a seated area that wasn't really as romantic I'd say. It was still nice, don't get me wrong, but I would've loved a booth in the main area..but hey, there is always next time! Our waiter was excellent (best we've ever encountered actually!) so we tipped him quite high. His name was Colin I believe. The food was delicious. My significant other ordered the prime rib, and I ordered a steak. VERY good food & service, no complaints! We will definitely be coming back! :)

I recently took out my staff to the Ivy, and we had a great experience. We were greeted with pleasant and humorous staff who were knowledgeable in their menu. The food was super delicious. Try the Moroccan Shrimp appetizer; we think the best appetizer in Saskatoon. The ambiance was fantastic for visiting with little traffic by our table to interrupt. We came early and were nearly the last people to leave. It was a very nice way to unwind and celebrate.

Second time there and attended with family members. The first time was great but the second time was equally as enjoyable (which is hard to do). The first experience was as a couple and thouroughly enjoyed as a couple night out and the second was with extended family in a group and all thought was excellent. Family members stated they would go back on their own (usual keg patrons) and enjoyed more than their usual spots. Some comments were 'I always forget about coming here." We will be back and I will encourage my next office outing for a group of 20 -30 to use the large rooms there.

We have been constantly impressed with the consistent quality of the menu items we had over the past couple of years. Even though we had a new server who was a bit nervous, he was friendly, attentive, and strived to do a great job. Overall, well done! My favourite was the lamb and the filet mignon. Salads were fresh with plenty of choices to pair with a good selections of wines.

We had the first part of a bachelorette party at The Ivy. As we had a group, they put us into a separate room, which was perfect for our needs. The waitress was excellent at making sure everyone had drinks and we happy with their meals. I had just wanted the bruschetta instead of a meal, but ran out of bread before finishing my bruschetta mix. The waitress gladly brought me a few more so I could finish. All the other comments about meals at the table we positive as well. The menu is definitely a higher end menu, so if you are a picky eater, you may not have many choices to pick from.

Our family have had several evening meals on special occasions over the years. We have found the staff to be attentive and personable. The ambiance is nice and it has usually be reasonably quiet on the visits which makes visiting easier. Overall we were haapy with our experience. My wife was disappointed with her pasta dish (quite oily) so unfortunately ate only a few bites the server offered her something else but she declined and the server took this food off the bill. It seemed as though there was somebody diiferent preparing the food on this evening as it was not as good as we have had in the past.

So impressive! Server Jaylon was so helpful and most efficient. Our shrimp appy was delicious with a bite. Our caesar salads prepared perfect with crisp romaine lettuce & just the right amount of dressing, plus soft croutons. My chicken was very tasty with rice cooked perfect and veggies too. My husband's s 8 oz. filet was cooked to perfection. Better steak than at The Keg! Ended with vanilla creme broule which we shared. Coffee was very good, strong and dark, just the way we like it. I had the Ivy Coffee. Great way to end the evening. Most enjoyable for my husband's Birthday. We will definitely be back. We will definitely bid for Jaylon. Very reasonably priced for such fine dining!

We always enjoy The Ivy, however on Saturday night the service was extremely slow. It took over twenty minutes to take our drink order, and then once we ordered the food we received the appetizers in good time, however the remainder of our meal took a long time. We arrived at 7:15 and did not leave until 10:15 pm (just after we finished eating the main course) and we had two teenagers with us. The restaurant was very full, not sure if there was a staff shortage or what. The food was still very good. We bring our curling team here every year because of the Prime Rib but you were also out of prime rib, we got over that. It was just very out of character for service based on our many many past experiences.

I cant believe that The Ivy has never been recommended to us before. The service for start was impeccable, our server was courteous and prompt with all of our requests. The food from appetizers to desert was by far in the top 3 meals I have ever had. The amount of quality and Substance to each course is the best for my dollar in Saskatoon. We had an amazing evening and will be back on a regular basis.

Menu was limited on NYE, which was our 1st experience at the Restaurant. This would have been helpful to know prior to dining. We viewed the menu online before making our reservation and were looking forward to trying some of the dishes. On the website, there was no mention that the menu would be limited for NYE. My husband and I have food allergies and discovered that of the 4 appetizers offered, 3 were off limits. In addition, no substitutions were allowed on the side dish. I wanted to d substitute the rice for the potatoes with a chicken dish, but was not allowed. Our reservation was for 6 pm, early for NYE and the restaurant was not busy at all. A small substitution of a side dish could have easily been done before the NYE rush

It was my first visit to the restaurant, and I was very impressed. Our server was excellent in understanding our needs and being patient with us, for English isn't our first language. Our server recommended a bottle of wine which I thought was just perfect. We ordered Moroccan Shrimp and Calamari as our appetizers and I would recommend having the calamari first before the shrimp because the Moroccan Shrimp has a stronger taste to it and is kind of "overpowering" the calamari. For our main courses, both my friend and I had the Prime Ribs and we both agreed that so far The Ivy probably serves the best Prime Ribs. For dessert we tried the Mud Pie which wasn't on the menu, and it was very impressive. We will definitely go back.
